Stop Making Me Laugh Or I'll Pee My Pants! Go Back! I Lost My Shoe! Trip Report!

I just found out why my boss is in a funky mood.......his mother is having brain surgery this Wednesday. They knew that she had an aneurism (I think I totally botched up the spelling. Doesn't it have a y in it somewhere?) Anyway, they sent the tests off to a brain surgeon who said he could do the surgery but only if it is this week.

We have a full court docket and we can't reschedule our Wednesday trial with this late notice. So, he won't be going with his mother. His sister will. The boss is going to stay home and watch over his Dad who had a stroke recently and can't travel the over 100 miles to the hospital.

From what he explained to me, it is supposed to be a fairly easy procedure and if everything goes okay, she'll be able to leave 72 hours after surgery. But, still, it's brain surgery and he won't be there. Somebody does need to stay here and help calm his Dad's fears since he can't travel either.

Lisa, that is terribly sad for them. Working for the neurosurgeons 17 years we saw a lot of aneurysms. The one thing if they know about them they can get them clipped before they bleed and all is good. When they know and they can't do the surgery right away is risky. Be glad they are getting it done quickly.

No wonder the boss man is funky. We never know what makes people they way they are until we walk in their shoes. I am glad he told you so you can be of help to him instead of just wonder why he's funky. We will all pray for a good response to the surgery for sure. And for you for taking care of your boss while his mom is undergoing this. It would be so hard to be one place and want to be another.

Aneurysms are scary things. We will pray for a positive outcome as well as, peace for your boss and his dad.

Sorry about your boss' mom, She will have lots of prayers from all of us, I'm sure. I bet it will be hard for him and his dad to not be able to be there but at least she has her daughter with her.

FYI- curiosity got the best of me and I looked it up-- you can actually spell aneurysm with or without the "y" according to Wikipedia LOL :teacher:

When I last left off, we had watched the acrobats in China and Hunter had purchased his sword. Next up on the walk around the world was Norway. Our Coral Reef ADR time was for 7:00 p.m. and we knew that we still had to walk all the way to the Living Seas....I mean....The Seas with Nemo and Friends. I don't think I'll ever get used to the "new" name. Anyway, we had about 30 minutes or so before we began our way over to the Coral Reef.

We saw that the wait time for Maelstorm was 20 minutes. We hopped in line and it took us 18 before we were getting on our boat. Just before boarding our boat, I took a picture of the hidden Mickey on the mural:

I tried to take some pictures while on the ride. This is the first one:

Yeah.....not so great.

Just when we thought were about to go backwards down the waterfall, we switched around and I caught a somewhat blurry picture of the troll:

While waiting in line, I had reminded everybody that at the end of the ride, we were going to try our best to skip the movie and go straight to the exit.

When our boat docked, we looked up and there was a line waiting for the theater doors to open. Great....we'd have to wait on all those people to move so that we could make a quick walk through the theater. As soon as the doors opened, everybody walked on in and took a seat. We walked right on in and kept walking.

We spent some time walking around in the store. We absolutely love The Deadliest Catch and it was fun looking at The Deadliest Catch stuff in the store. Last trip, John got a Heely Hansen (probably spelled that wrong) hat. Since the other merchandise was expensive, we simply window shopped.

All of us were getting hungry so we decided not to linger anymore and head on over to Coral Reef. We arrived about 15 minutes early and were given a pager. I went to the bathroom and when I came out the host was ready to seat us.

We were seated on the second tier of the restaurant and just about mid-room. It was a pretty nice view. Here are a few pictures I took. Not so great. I could never seem to get a picture of the fish. I guess it was because it was a little dark and we were not sitting close to the glass.

Before long, our waiter came and explained the Dining Plan to us even though we told him that we had done the dining plan several times. Oh well, I guess better cautious than not. The bad thing was he didnt' speak English too well and I kept having to repeat everything so John would know what he was saying.

He gave us a few minutes to decide what we wanted. In the meantime, he brought out our drinks.

John already knew what he wanted. He had been looking forward to it all year long. I also knew what I wanted but I had a question on whether or not I could substitute a side dish. Hunter would, of course, be eating the pizza because he's a super picky eater. Lacey had a little bit of a harder time deciding.

When the waiter came back, John ordered the blackened catfish with pepper jack cheese grits. He also got an extra order of grits. I ordered the steak and asked if I could substitute potatoes for the grits too. Hunter ordered his pizza. Lacey asked what the fish of the day was and it was halibut. She loves salmon but decided to try the halibut. It was grilled and served on a shrimp and scallop risotto.

We were watching the fish swim by and then we saw divers. Four divers. They would come down to the window and wave to the kids in the restaurant. Of course, the kids went crazy. Especially, when they turned flips. While we were waiting for our food, the waiter brought out bread and butter.

I don't remember how long it took before we got our food but it wasn't too long. Food pictures!

Two pictures of John's blackened catfish and pepper jack cheese grits. I took two because the first one was a little dark:

Then, my steak with pepper jack cheese grits:

Lacey's halibut with shrimp and scallop risotto:

Hunter's pizza:

Oh my word......everything was extremely good. I don't even like grilled fish and Lacey's halibut was tasty. Several times during the meal, our waiter came over and refilled our drinks and asked if everything was okay. He was a great waiter. During one of his trips to our table, I asked that he confirm that Hunter would be able to order off the adult dessert menu because we had paid adult prices for the dining plan. I was prepared to duke it out with the manager if I had to because he WAS going to order off the adult dessert menu even though he had a kids' pizza.

We ate until we thought we were going to burst. Everything was that good. And then, our waiter said it was time to order desserts and, yes, Hunter could order an adult dessert.

John ordered the tropical fruit sorbet. I ordered the butterscotch creme brulee. Hunter and Lacey ordered the chocolate wave.

Dessert pictures:

The little pink Mickey head candy was as hard as a rock. I don't know if you were really supposed to eat it or not.

We ate off each other's plates. John's sorbet was sooooo good. My creme brulee was yummy. The chocolate cake was really chocolatey but tasty. If we thought we were stuffed before, we were overstuffed now!

Just as we were finishing up our desserts, the waiter brought around our ticket and it was so nice to just sign for our meal. If I am remembering correctly, the meal cost about $140.00. We left our waiter the 18% tip because he was very attentive throughout the entire meal.

Up next: The Seas with Nemo and Friends

Lisa, I will be praying for your bosses mom too. I hope everything works out well.

I love the Coral Reef pictures (and thanks for the Hidden Mickey picture too. I'd never have known where to look). I really want to eat there, but Matt does NOT like seafood and neither does my brother. Actually neither does my dad. I tried to get in there for our "girls night", but it was too late. I love Chinese too, so I'll "deal" with Nine Dragons, but I'd love to eat there some day. The one time I was going to (a VERY long time ago-before we were married) we ended up having to leave before we were seated. Your food looked good. Thanks for those pictures too.

Looking forward to Nemo and Friends...:goodvibes

Love the pics of the Coral Reef...looks yummy (the blackened fish was prepared correctly??) I will have to let Danny know about that one!
I did not know you could leave before the show in Maelstrom?!? that is good to know; I think it ruined the entire ride for the kids last time :lmao:

OHHHHHHH!!! I can not wait to get the bill and just worry about the tips!!! :woohoo:

And thanks for the info on the escape route out of Malestrom!

Our prayers and thoughts go out to you boss and his family.

I have to say my husband gave me his pink mickey mouse candy and i could not bite into at all. I asked of it was edible and they said yes. It wasn't worth losing a tooth over and I did not have any superglue so I gave up.:wizard:

koool coral reef pictures, my mouth is watery nowww lol, i want to try it there in may, and prayers r being sent to ur boss and his family

Arrgh! I tried to post earlier and the DIS just froze up on me. Love the acrobat pictures!

Oh, those Coral Reef pics make me seriously think about going there. YUM!

Prayers for your bosses mom and I think it is so cute that Lacey waited to see which shirt her dad liked, before buying :)

Hey Lisa! Great update. Coral Reef looks great! I have never eaten there, but I have always wanted to try it- I may have to now after seeing those photos!!! :)
It is definitely a good thing they caught the aneurysm early...I lost a Grandmother & an Aunt (who was only 39!) who both had no idea they had one. Your boss must be SO stressed about not being able to be there. I hope the procedure is a success and that his Mom will recover quickly.

Lisa, those food pics from Coral Reef look so yummy!! We may have to put it on our list of things to try next time.;)

I hope everything works out with your boss's mom. I will be praying for them.

Good morning Lisa, Coral Reef looks yummy. Aust and I wanted to eat there but we got out voted. I'm not a 'grits' girl but those looked worth trying.

Keep us updated on your work situation.

Have a great day.

Ginny

All the food from Coral Reef looked so good. I am still undecided about what to order when we go in 35 days!!!! :cool1:

I've never gotten to ride Maelstrom. I've always wanted to. Your pictures just confirmed that I need to make that a "must-do" my next time in Disney. Whenever my next time will be, that is!

Your dinner looked oh, so delicious! It's breakfast time here, but I could seriously go for some of that steak right about now. I've never eaten at the Coral Reef, but I may have to try that one out next time, too! :thumbsup2

Oh, I never did see the hidden Mickey in that picture. It's probably as plain as the nose on my face, but I never saw it! :confused3

Great update Lisa!

I love Maelstrom!

We ate at the Coral Reef a few years ago and enjoyed it too. I hadn't thought about DS10 ordering his dinner from the children's menu and dessert off of the adult menu. I am certain that he is going to order all of his meals from the kid's menu. I'll never understand why Disney thinks a 10 year old is an adult! :sad2:

Lisa, great update as always. I've not seen that Hidden Mickey at Maelstrom...I'll be looking for it this weekend. We've not done Coral Reef in about 10 years or so...I think we'll put it back on the list for a future trip (no room this trip).

Hey everybody! I just have a very few minutes to post. I'll try to come back at 2:00 when the boss has a client with him.

This morning was absolutely horrible! I busted my rear end getting papers ready for a guy to review and sign this morning. Come to find out, they (I say they because he can't seem to make a move without his mother and grandmother in tow.) went to another attorney yesterday afternoon to try and get an emergency hearing which is virtually impossible in our State. Did they call and tell us that they had another attorney? No! Did they tell me when they came in this morning that they had another attorney? No! He came in for his appointment, started reviewing the paperwork in the waiting room and then I hear the front door open. It's the other attorney. He tried to get the emergency hearing and had it screwed up so badly!

Anyway, while the attorney is standing in the waiting room with the people (I could hear everything that was being said because my door leads into the waiting room.) I go out and ask if I could help him. He said he needed to talk with my boss. So, he goes in and talks to the boss who looks at the paperwork. He cited the wrong law AND took the paperwork to the wrong Judge. Guess what! Everything got denied! The attorney leaves and my boss and I are just left scratching our heads trying to figure out if there's a way to fix it now. We go through all the law and nope! It's so screwed up that we can't fix it. Once a Judge denies something like that, you're done.

We were trying to keep this guy's baby's mama from leaving the State with the child and we had everything done the right way in the paperwork we drafted. Well, since the other attorney did it all wrong and it was denied, we can't do anything.

So, I go into the waiting room to tell the people that they need to go talk with the other attorney because we can't do anything. They get all mad at me and said they don't understand. They kept saying what do you mean, you can't help us? I finally just told them that I would suggest they go to the other attorney's office and sit in his waiting room and ask him why he screwed it up. I was doing really really good with my temper until the bossy grandmother said "Sweet, I'm not criticizing you but how good is your attorney if he can't fix somebody else's mix-up?" It was literally all I could do not to say something really nasty to the lady. I just told her that we couldn't do anything so they might as well leave.

I was walking into my boss' office and almost ran into him. He was coming out to tell the people to leave. I told my boss that the lady better be glad that I respect my elders or I would have used my favorite cuss (not curse) word on her.

Okay, I've vented to all of my beloved friends. I'll come back after while and reply to everybody. I also have the rest of my Epcot day almost done and ready to post.

Gee, they sound like true ozark hicks. Let's see if I can get something for nuthin and while you are at it. I can get a girl pg but can't do anything else with out mama's help.
