.... as I was confused as with the new policy it states

a car seat OR pushchair per child

and having two under 2s I need 2 car seats and a double pushchair.

got the indian call centre

lady said its right, its one or the other and you have to use you luggage allowance for either the car seat or pushchair !

great, talk about penalising people with kids

I dont like hiring the car seats in other countries as you dont know there history or suitablity, and theres no way Im buying a new double buggy in the states or renting one when I have a perfectly good one at home!

thought I would let you know how I got on

We have just taken two car seats and two pushchairs with Virgin. We had no problems. We checked in the car seats with the luggage. At the check-in they gave us two large bags for putting the pushchairs in. We just handed the pushchairs over at the gate. The pushchairs came of the plane first.

Im not sure they will even know if you have a pushchair anyway....I mean they do not generally give you a label for it do they you just hand them over at the gate...they will have no knowledge if you have checked in a car seat or not. Or am I terribly wrong?

We have already booked and so will still get the 2 peices of baggage each. We will use one of my sons allowance for his car seat and 1 for his suitcase. then take the buggy to the gate

I wouldn't worry too much - when we went in March the car seat was tagged and loaded at check in. We took the pushchair to the gate where it was tagged seperatly and I don't *think* it was tied to our ticket. I will take more notice this week and report back!

all baggage is tied to your ticket thats why you get the labels attached incase anything goes missing

I wouldnt worry about it, they cant expect you to not have a double buggy if you have 2 under 2, I will be in the same boat next year

Try calling back and hope you get the uk call centre or try the flying club number, they were all based in crawley when i worked for VA

Don't worry about it. We have travelled with our little boy 3 times druing his first 14 months andare travelling again in a coupe of weeks.

We have taken car seat, travel cot (Basinet) and buggy on each occasion without an issue.

India don't have a clue and I wouldn't even bother speaking to them.

How any company thinks it represents 'customer service' I have no idea. Demand to speak to the UK call centre if you call them again.

I know on the way back they had the label for the buggys pre-printed and they just took my boarding card off and stick the receipt on that and wrote my name on a sheet listing the tag numbers. They had no way of knowing how many pieces of baggage I had already checked in.

Hiya
Just to let you know that we flew with virgin in march myself, DH and DS 18months and we took a pushchair, carseat and travelcot and no-one batted an eyelid, nor on the other side when we used check in at DTD,
Hope all works out ok

hiya

I rang them because it states in the changes due november thats its either or, I have taken both before but wanted to check what happens after november

if you are under your luggage allowance then you will be able to get all on, we came back friday and had 3 cases for the 2 of us and we purchased our pushchair out there so it was boxed up, we had no problems getting it back as we had three cases

I think it all depends on the check in staff on that day, everyone always gets different answers to the same questions
