We just booked the 4 night Wonder cruise leaving April 18, 2010. This will be our 9th Disney cruise and 5th on the Wonder. We figured it was probably our last chance to sail on the Wonder, without having to fly to California.

Anyone with us?

Hello, we will be taking our first DC. My son, dau in law and grson 3a nd granddaughter 7 months. We are thrilled so far. Anything we should do?

Hello and Welcome Aboard!!

Since this is your first Disney cruise, I would suggest going through all of the info in the FAQ sticky at the top of the main cruise forum. There is a lot of really good info there. If you have any questions, ask away.

Well Disfolks I now know what a fish extender is and I will be making one for our trip. But I am not sure what I put in other fish extenders. Please help. My little grandson 3, will be on the cruise so tell me what to bring to put in and he will have a good time doing this.

Unless we have a lot more people sign on to this thread for the cruise, I don't think you'll be doing much with fish extenders. That idea only works when quite a few cabins are doing it, and so far this thread has been really quiet. We've never participated on any of our cruises, so I'm not much help on what to bring for others. You might have better luck posting that question on the main forum. I'm sure you will get a lot of good ideas over there.

Plan is that next month we'll be booking airfare and the cruise! :) Thanks to everyone who have been so helpful so far!!

What did you decide to do about flying in the day before? I know it adds to the expense of the trip, but we think the peace of mind is worth it. One added benefit to flying in the day before is that you are much more rested when you board the ship. No hustling around early that morning trying to get to the airport, dealing with luggage, getting to the port, etc. We have stayed at the airport Hyatt and at the Radisson near the port and really prefer to try to get in early enough to drive to the port and stay there. I think for this trip we're going to stay at the Residence Inn at the port. We usually fly in late afternoon/early evening, drive to the port, go for a swim and have a relaxing dinner.

Either way I'm sure you will have a great cruise!

Thanks for the warm welcome and for your suggestions! My plan is to fly in at least the night before. Flying in the day of is off the table! I'm anxiously awaiting JetBlue's April fares. We will spend a few days in Orlando either before or after the cruise, dependant upon when I can get good/less expensive flights. We are thinking positive that our plans will come together nicely and within budget!!

I don't know where you are in MA, but if you are in a reasonable driving distance to either Manchester, NH or Providence, RI you might want to keep an eye on Southwest's prices. This past April, I rode in the Budget rental shuttle from their office to the port with a man who lives in Marlborough, MA and he drove to Hartford, CT because the prices were better. I don't remember which airline he flew on, but I am considering that for this upcoming trip as well. It takes us about an hour and 30 - 45 minutes to get to Providence and about the same to get to Hartford.

My wife(Dee), daughter(Rose), her boyfriend(William) and I(Paul) are looking into booking this cruise. We have a hold on a category 9 stateroom. We hope we can join you. We have cruised with DCL before. :goodvibes

Drop by and let us know if you book.

Thanks for the welcome, we are waiting to find out if William can get the week off from work next April. He just started a new job, so he isn't sure about vacation time, and our daughter would really like for him to go.

I went ahead and booked this cruise, still waiting to hear from William about his work situation, but I wanted to at least get the cruise booked to make sure we have a cabin. Changed reservation from a category 9 to a category 10.

Glad to have you aboard! Booking was probably a good idea...... at least you guarantee the price (since it usually goes up as time goes on) and space for your traveling party. It's very simple to remove someone from a reservation (prior to the paid in full date) but sometimes it is impossible to add someone close to the sailing date.

If all goes according to plan, my family will be joining you on this WONDERful cruise next April to celebrate my 55th birthday the day (4/20) we dock at Castaway Cay!!! I can't think of a better place to spend my birthday. :thumbsup2

I had a total knee replacement done this past June 4th and will be heading back to work shortly. As far as no other major problems arise over the next few months, my family is looking forward to joining you on the Wonder.

This will be our first DCL sailing on the Wonder. :goodvibes

Our sailing party will be me(Andy), DW(Hazel) DD(Angelina) DD's "soon to be fiance"(Bryan). This will be Bryan's "first ever cruise" and he is really excited about it.

Hi Andy!!

Welcome Aboard!!!!!

We've always seemed to miss being able to cruise with you and your family and I am excited that we may finally get to meet you all.

I agree that spending your birthday on CC would be a great way to celebrate.

We're taking this cruise to celebrate our 20th anniversary (it's not until May, but this was the only week we could go). We currently have the Walt suite booked, but we'll see how the finances work out when we get to the PIF date. Sounds like we may have to plan a small get together to celebrate both of our important dates!

Sounds good to me Ed!!! :thumbsup2

Hope you get to keep the Walt Suite, we visited it on our September 2008 cruise, very nice!!! :thumbsup2

An early congrats on your 20th anniversary!!! :lovestruc

Hazel and I celebrate our 34th anniversary next month.

After this cruise, I think our next cruise will be on the Disney Dream, then the one after that on the Disney Fantasy. We want to try and get on all four DCL ships at least once, that's why I added that line into my siggie!!! :goodvibes

We were able to tour both the Walt and Roy suites on the first EB PC repo in 2005, and they are both very nice. I celebrated my 53rd birthday on that cruise and the Concierge team decorated our door and provided some special goodies that day. We liked the Walt better because the wood is lighter than the wood in the Roy. I know..... picky, picky picky..... :rolleyes1

Congrats on your 34th anniversary! Have a glass of "bubbly" for me! :drinking1

We would like to sail on both the Dream and the Fantasy, but we'll have to wait to see what the prices will be. We've gotten really spoiled over the years by sailing in a suite on all but one DCL cruise, and I'm sure the suite prices on the new ships are going to be even more ridiculous than what they're charging on the current ships. Hopefully, we'll get an idea on pricing after the announcements this coming week and when they open up the bookings for the Dream.

Have you booked this cruise yet, or are you just planning for now?

We booked this cruise some time ago. We were scheduled to go on the 10/24/09 sailing for our anniversary(10/24) this year, but with my knee trouble in the Spring, that lead up to the total knee replacement in June, we had to cancel that cruise as I needed to use all my sick time and vacation time for the rest of this year. With the Magic leaving on 4/10/10 for the summer, we decided to try the 4/18/10 sailing as a birthday gift to me. When we first booked the cruise, we didn't know the Wonder would be scheduled to dock at CC on my birthday, I just found that out the other day. I was thinking the CC day would be on Wednesday, not Tuesday, what a special surprise treat that was for me!!! :goodvibes

We wanted to do another 7 night on the Magic that week, but unfortunately that didn't work out. We've sailed 3 times on the Wonder and aside from the small physical differences between the ships, the experience is pretty much the same. The CMs do seem to be a little more harried on the Wonder (or maybe it's my imagination), probably because of the twice weekly guest turn over. After our Magic cruise this past April, I know that several of the CMs from the Magic (including some management level folks) were transferring to the Wonder, so maybe the atmosphere on the Wonder is now a little more relaxed.

It is nice to do CC on Tuesday and then have a sea day on Wednesday. Stopping at CC on the last day of the cruise is the one thing we don't really like about the 7 night cruises (unless it's a double dip!).

I hope your new knee is working out ok for you. I was almost in the same situation back in January, but my knee is now almost as good as new, without any surgery. Still not 100%, but at least now I can walk, which I could barely do last Winter.
