Details emerge on the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

looks like its going to be fun!

The Wizarding World will also include Hogsmeade Village, with shops and taverns from the novels selling items such as magic wands and serving treats such as chocolate frogs and butterbeer.
i reda this and thought "they're going to sell freddo's!!" come on j k rowling, chocolate frogs aren't new, cadbury's have been doing them for years!!!

ohh i love freddos!!
am i the only one who read this and thought i better take out another credit card? the kids are going to want everything, we are huge HP fans, its one of the ways i persuaded dh to take another trip we really honestly cant afford - the kids ll freak in the morning, they are soooo excited:goodvibes

p.s deb, do you read the sentinel on line every day?

:yay: Please, please let the WW of HP be open by May 2010! I promise to be good until then ;)

p.s deb, do you read the sentinel on line every day?

I have not read a UK newspaper for 2-3 years now, often look at BBC website but read Orlando Sentinel site at least twice a day. News about Florida is far more interesting than UK news.

Can't wait to see this, it's really starting to sound good.

Oh, any word on the rumour of a possible staggered opening (Hogsmead opening Dec 2009, Hogwarts and main ride opening 2010)?

I admit to having a vested interest as I'm ove in March 2010. :)

I'm the complete opposite of most of you in this thread! I hate Harry Potter with a passion and I really hope it doesn't open while I'm there in May! Not bothered if it's open before then but I expect it'll bring alot of crowds!

Wouldn't say I hate HP but never read the books and only saw 2 of the films before losing interest, not watched last few films at all.

Yeah, I watched the 1st one, I think, didn't watch it the whole way through as found it boring but I just don't get the hype :confused3 I think possibly because it began when I was a teen and it just wasn't cool to like Harry Potter. Not really high on my agenda these days but still think it's over-rated. It'll be cool to see a new area in Universal but doubt I'll spend any time in it!

I hope for everyone here that it's open in the first half of the year:thumbsup2, although I feel really bad as I have a convinced a friend to postpone plans and travel later in the year as I told her I didn't think it would be open in time for her planned May trip!! OH NO!!!

I can't wait, not planning my trip in 2010 until I know when its opening.

We're on for May 2010 too, and my Dad's a massive HP fan, so I'd love for it to be open so he can see it all.

It's looking promising, but I'm not counting my chickens...just yet!

We have decided for our trip next year we will probably book 2 nights at universal at the start of the trip before heading over to WDW (that way we get front of the line access and it saves our friends 2 nights worth of DVC points which are a lot for a 2 bedroomed villa over the Christmas/New Year week!) I do enjoy Harry Potter and I am looking forward to seeing the new area, but I can't help but think it is going to be a bit of a let down. If they are retheaming 2 of the rides (one of which is already a major coaster) then I can't help but think that apart from the rumoured robocoaster and a special effects thing then apart from the theaming of buildings there actually isn't going to be that much new attraction wise in there. Due to the fact that it is taking so long to build people are going to be expecting something major in there, and I get the feeling they hype might not reflect the true new contents. Having said that, like I said we will be visiting it and I hope I am prooved wrong.
