Nice participation on last month's assignment. :thumbsup2

For this month's I thought we'd try something simple and fun - Show Me Two!

For this assignment, there should be two pictures that are "related", but different from eachother. How you differ them is up to you.

Let's see how creative we can get! Remember that the idea is to get out and use your camera so these should be new pictures. Post as many as you like!

Oooooh, I like this one. Good topic, Linda and great job so far on the monthly thread---I've really loved looking at all of the shots submitted. :thumbsup2

This subject has my wheels turning also. Very interesting and thought provoking subject :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 It will certainly be fun to watch and participate in this thread and see how differently everyone interprets the assignment.

This is my 1st take on the theme:

Great topic! Have my wheels turning as well....camping for the Labor Day weekend, maybe I'll get something good while we're there.

Reality and abstract of the same subject.

I see this image as the door to heaven. Lake Michigan is actually on the other side of the building.

UFO.jpg

This image is of the same building reflected in a parking lot puddle. The large UFO is a storm drain in the parking lot.

I have some better ideas but today I went out and practiced with my non-metering manual focus 50mm f1.4. Went to one of our local landmarks, the Stage Coach Museum which has a hotel from the late 1800's. The also have recreations of local Chumash Indians that lived in the area as well as artifacts from the original settlers.

Not to go too OT (but this is a discussion thread as well, right?) but I've got to ask. Roger, how did you find using a non-metering lens on the D90? Fairly easy and straightforward? Not worth the effort?

I have been looking at an AIS lens and one of the main reasons I haven't purchased it yet is because it won't meter with the D90. It doesn't sound too difficult---more trial and error than anything---but it has still been bugging me none the less.

It is a learning process. :rotfl2: I have gotten to where it only takes me two shots get the exposure somewhat correct (thank goodness for LR) but the manual focus is a bigger challenge for me at wider apperatures. It was a lot of fun.

Here are two from yesterday that go together-

Not two photos, but two subjects in one photo, Beauty and the Beast, railroad style!

The two most advanced steam locomotives ever built, the streamlined class "J" pulled passenger trains at up to 110 mph while the 1218 class "A" hauled a mile long string of loaded coal cars at 70 mph.
