First Choice - Direct Flight from bristol to sanford

I know I mentioned this a while ago and people kindly told me on the way out you stop at Manchester.

FC are saying for 2010 it will be a direct flight only - does anyone have access to double check this for me??

Also do disney do free transportation from sanford or just orlando airport

A direct flight may have one or more stops - the same aircraft will operate all sectors of the flight. Although FC are stating it is a direct flight, it doesn't mean it won't stop at Manchester (or another airport).

Only a non-stop flight would operate from Bristol to Sanford without stopping en-route.

Disney only do free transport from Orlando, not Sanford. However, there is a coach which you can get from Sanford to wherever your staying.

I rang FC last night and said that someone had mentioned re the stop at manchester, they say there is nothing showing on their screen to say they stop at manchester, but I am still not sure

Looking at FCA Man to San it only flies during the summer months next year on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays

Britol to sanford only flies saturdays so it looks like they are different flights

I always thought that there were no non stop flights from Bristol to Orlando/Sanford as the plane always had to refuel. This could be completely wrong as I can't remeber where I heard this but I remember being told that Bristol's runway was too short for the plane to take off with a full tank of fuel and it must always stop somewhere to refuel, again sorry if this is duff info!

This is the reason we've been given when we've flown this route in the past.

One way you might check would be to make a dummy on-line booking. Go through the whole process as though you were going to book (but don't actually book and pay !), and read the small print at every stage. I remember when I booked there was mention of the stop in Manchester somewhere during the online booking process, but not until quite far down the line.

its a direct flight even though it stops it means you dont get off and change aeroplane etc when I asked they said becomes it may become the midlands instead of manchester but will deffently stop as has to refuel

it is a really quick flight though i have done it twice and first time i slept through landing at manchester and taking off again

It is because of the runway being too short for a large plane to take off with a full tank so refuel at manchester where you don not get off. BUT the runway is due to be lengthened. work to start form the end of the year.

Ah so it sounds like we could fly direct from bristol next august?

I rang First Choice and was told the same BUT was told that last year when thinking of going and found out from people on the board that they did stop at manchester.

Can you let me know what you find please.

For us its a case of :-

First Choice from Bristol (less than two hours away) for two weeks or three weeks but goes to sanford and worried re the refuel (hate flying).

Virgin from Gatwick (nightmare of the drive etc) for two weeks, three weeks or even 18 days (which sounds promising) and arriving at orlando (catch magical express).

Like my sister boyfriend said yesterday we really want Virgin from Bristol direct to Orlando for 18 days

The coach which is mentioned, is it part of disney or just a private coach? Would it mean for example that we might have 100 stops (slight exageration ) before arriving at disney? Could I ask the name as well please

I've mulled this over before for the same reason as you (Hello from Devon) and it seems to me that the flight length is now shorter than it was last year (9 hours something compared to 10 hours), so that non scientific observation would tell me that the flight no longer refuelled in Manchester.

When we flew from bristol 2 years ago we stopped but as i said before no one could get off we were actually served orange juice and muffin while they refueled.
we are flying again from Bristol in 29 days.

We chose Bristol again because we only live 20/25mins away and it worked out cheaper than going to Gatwick with petrol, parking , overnight stay and the LONG drive back.
