Obi's post about Continental and American now only allowing on checked bag at 23kg and charging for a second one got me thinking. It looks like most of the airlines are going this way - Aer Lingus introduced this policy in the summer and charge 40 Euro per second bag.

For those of you who've been thinking about getting an Owners Locker but not being able to justify the cost, I think now might be a good time to have another look at it. We left our OL stuffed full of things we only ever need in Florida and not having to cart that stuff back and forth across the Atlantic made a bid difference to our luggage allowance. I bet if you took all the "stuff" you regularly need over there and weighed it, you'd be surprised at how much of your now precious allowance it takes up.

It might be something to think about now that the airlines are charging extra

Very good point!!! There is so much I take that I never use over here - might look into it next time we are over!

Judging by the weight of our locker when we left I reckon we'd have about two cases worth in there :rotfl:

I had always thought that Owners Locker was only for DVC or on-site guests. But following the Purple Van's exploits it might be an option for those who prefer to stay in off-site hotels :)

TinkTatoo would be interested in what you keep in your locker ;)

OL is worth considering for anyone who visits florida at least once every 12 - 18 months regardless of where you stay. I even think they'll arrange a delivery to a private villa if you organize it with them first. I don't think it's such a good idea though if your visits are every two years or longer

how much are they?

Have a look at the owners locker website. The fee is $99 per year, there is a $75 joining fee but you can get a significant discount off this amount if you click the " where did you hear about us" box

It's not going to suit every one but I just thought that with luggage weight now at a premium, any bits and bobs that you can leave over there would help

I had a look at the OL and I am considering however, my issue with the baggage allowance isn't taking stuff to Florida, it is bringing stuff back!!

Must admit, Owner lockers are a godsend have been using them for the last couple of years, and do take a load off my luggage allowance.
A big thumbs up from me.:thumbsup2
