Good morning, everyone. I am sitting here icing my lower legs (as best I can at work with 2 quart size freezer bags!). Had a 10 x 400 session this am and it seems my lower legs are rebelling. It's always something! I find it really strange that over the last year of running, something different seems to be "achy" at one point or another for an extended period of time. I got through the ITB issue (knock wood), had ankle/shin thing for awhile. Now it's more like lower calf/shin. Why is it that it seems to migrate around my legs?

Anyway, have a good day.

Maura

my miles/minutes are all up to date

sore everywhere today, moved and stacked 2 cords of wood yesterday (in just over 2 hours) and just back from a 4 mile run/walk...finally running as much as walking, hopefully soon will be MORE running than walking! Guess that's a posititve side of being un-employed, more run time!

Great weather here, 46 when I got up, s'posed to get to 73 today, sunny, perfect for shorts and a hoodie, DD has a field hockey game tonight, DS has EMT training, and DH is haying.

Hope you all have a GREAT day!

Updated through yesterday. No running yet today - I forgot to do laundry last night, and for some reason, they found on me running around without shorts. ;) With any luck, I'll get in a run outside tonight, instead of a treadmill.

Hey goofs! Just 2 mi for me today...rest day on the schedule, but wanted to do something.

Rich...I know you won't let some dirty shorts keep you from continuing your running streak. I guess if you wait until tonight to run, maybe they won't notice that you aren't wearing any shorts (and streaking)

Lisa...I'm going to update the spreadsheet in a few minutes, so I should be caught up by the time you read this.

Nah, my running stuff is in the wash now. But some of the shorts were pretty ripe, so I figured I would be courteous and wash my stuff first. With any luck though, DW will get home early enough than I can run outside - this weather is too good to pass up.

Rich- there is more than one way to streak:thumbsup2

As for me GG#3 went back to school today. GG#2 goes back Thursday- there was a mold problem in some of the class rooms so the opening has been delayed. Right off the bat- three snow days. Hopefully not another repeat of the horrific ice storms we had last year. My DH and I celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary this year- he got me an in house generator! could not have been more thrilled!

Today I got back into riding. I had a great 2 hour lesson. I am trying out a new horse- he is a retired big name eventer and he is looking for someone to spoil him (that's me!) We really worked well together and I am looking forward to doing some big cross country courses with him. I did shed a tear when I did not see Seamus there and his nice burberry halter and lead were still there. I gave them to my new pony (the spoiling starts!)

After the lesson I took GG#2 on a two hour bike ride. It was torture for me- she complained the entire way! It was a glorious day and I plan on more long bike rides when they go back to school.

Job situation is still nerve wracking. I prefer to work just weekends and I am lucky enough to get my old position as the lead clinician in a free STD/HIV walk in clinic. It will be about 8 hours a week but I am hoping to help out in flu clinics- should be a busy year!

I am going to check out the protein supplements- thanks everyone for the suggestions!
Joanne

Happy early Wednesday everyone. Just like old times....right...I'm even typing this morning! :surfweb:

I updated the spreadsheet and let me just say, Super Goofs rock!! Great job for the month of August everyone.

Maura, Liz and Patrick, you have either no miles or only a few days posted so if you could be so sweet as to update the sheet (poet-didn't know it) I would kiss your feet. Okay it was the only thing I could come up with this early...:sad2:

Anyway, I have 5 miles on tap for today, house cleaning after the hay crew debocle that happens to my house, laundry and groceries. First day of school for my kidlets (DD14 had freshman orientation for 2 hours yesterday :scared1:) and then pickup from field hockey practice. I don't get to see a lot of DDs games this year due to my new enhanced scheduling so I figure one practice a week won't kill me. Besides, the field is inside of the track so I can kill 2 birds with one stone! :woohoo:

I am really excited to see everyone at RFtT. I would like to thank Liz once again for talking sense into my DH. Have a Super day Goofs!!! :flower3:

Checking in with the Goofs!:grouphug:

Did a R3/W1 for 3 miles this morning after taking off the last 6 days... :sad2:

Just got over a monster cold.

Shin did well today, but I'm so not ready for the 10K on Monday that I'm letting DH run it alone. It is a pretty intense course hill wise so it is probably best anyway. I don't want to injure myself further. :rolleyes1

Really, I've got to concentrate on preparing myself for the TOT 13K at this point. I know the pace is pretty generous for that race so if it comes down to it I'll crawl.

Hope everyone is doing well. :goodvibes

Lisa Sorry I'm delinquent on the spreadsheet tracking. Would be easier if I could do it at work during lunch, but believe it or not, it's a restricted site! This won't be a problem much longer...............

Shan I'm sure your cold took something out of you, so I hope your energy level gets back up there. And I bet you won't have to crawl the TOT.

Joanne Glad to hear you are riding again, since it sounds like a passion for you. Now that my niece is off to college (and riding for U of SC equestrian team) my sister has jumped in the saddle to do her own riding lessons. Hey, she's paid for all this stuff for so long, now it's her turn to have some fun!

XT for me today. Will probably switch up the rest of the week to accommodate both a long run and the race I have on Monday. Looking forward to running across the Mackinac Bridge as the sun rises!

Maura

the pool at the Y opened again, so I got in 1.something chlorinated miles in 35 minutes.

Counting down now...just tapering, and trying to catch my breath!

Mike

GG#2 was supposed to start school Monday but non toxic mold was found in some of the classrooms= she is not going to start until Wednesday! I do love my daughter but she needs to get back to school (and I need to get to the gym!)

I had another really fun lesson on the new pony. My inner thighs and butt muscles are so sore after taking a break for six weeks! I was supposed to go on a long trail ride tomorrow with some barn friends but no sitter :(. There will be plenty of time in the future.....

I stocked up on some protein powder, coconut water, and soy milk. Can't wait to see if it helps my lead legs.

Mike...glad the Y was open for your swim...did you ever find out why it was closed?

Joanne...all the riding sounds like a lot of fun...I've only been riding once before...I do remember my butt was very sore afterwards

Shan...I don't blame you for taking it easy...gotta save yourself for the Disney race ;)

AFM...3 mi on TM today...ugh...I hate the TM!

6.45 miles, 1:04:38; perty good for a big fella...

I'm obsessing about the weather in Madison in 10 days...saturday's forecast to be high of 66, partly cloudy, 10% chance of rain...could be perfect!

Good work everyone staying consistent, and PD for those who need it!

Mike

Hey Goofs! Tomorrow is Friday the 4th...that means I only have one more week until I head home from Guyana

Xtraining day for me today...got a 5 mi walk in outside this morning.

Hello everyone! Just stopping in with a little announcement:

If anyone missed out on the WISH shirt order, why not get a hat or visor to show your WiSH racing team pride?!!! Please see the link in my siggy below. I need a min of 36 items and I have 17 so far.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.....

Hey Goofs!

3 miles of cruise intervals on my uphill treadmill last night (short bursts above race pace, followed by only slightly longer bursts at my normal cruising pace).

6 miles today on the dreadmill at the Y, followed by weights.

Shannon Glad to hear you will be home soon.

Took the day off today--a nice long weekend. Will drive up to Mackinaw City on Sunday for the Bridge run. Should be a neat experience, and I plan to just run easy.

Have a great weekend Goofs.

Maura

PS Lisa --I finally updated August spreadsheets
