First off, I would like to say that I had a great vacation and enjoyed my stay at the BLT as you can't beat the location! I do want to report a few things though that I found disturbing for such a new resort. We stayed in room 7238 which was supposed to be a bay lake view. We did have a view of the contemporary, the marina, and the lake. It was nice, but after reading that the rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor were supposed to be standard views, I think I should have double checked to make sure we got what we paid for in points.

The room had a few "surprises" The dresser/tv stand armoire had a big scratch on the top already! Someone spilled something purple that went down the dresser and the wall, and it was not cleaned up. I cleaned up the dresser, but the stains on the wall didn't come out. one of the chairs also had scratches in it. This is a resort that is 3 weeks old? I can't imagine what the previous occupants were doing in there, but it was a shame to see.

The microwave also didn't work, but it only had a blown fuse and was fixed immediately.

And lastly, this is just my personal preference, but I just do not get the design of the bathroom sink area in the kitchenette. The eeewwww factor is definitely there. I found myself looking for somewhere else to use my hairspray after I could feel the residue on the counter top near the coffee maker, toaster and microwave. I made sure to wipe everything down before I left, but I can only imagine over time if it is not cleaned properly, there could be a build up of many types of personal products.

I realize I sound like Debbie Downer, but I really did like the resort. The location was very easy to get to the bridge to the Contemporary, laundry room, Community Hall, and the pool area. We also enjoyed the Top of the World Lounge! And, I would despite these few issues most definitely stay there again!

Have you thought about calling MS and asking them to check into the matter about the room category? As you know, work2play has been tracking the BLT room locations and views, and your report is the first to indicate that the second floor has a Lake View room. If you were given a Standard room in error, then MS should credit your account the extra 2 points a night. If 7238 really is classified as a LV room, then work2play can pass this information on to the other readers of her thread.

Yes, I plan on calling to find out for sure. When we checked in, I mentioned that I thought it was a standard room, since I was familiar with the room location thread. But, the woman checking us in didn't respond. I barely stand 5 ft. tall, and I swear people ignore me or just don't hear me! My husband wasn't feeling good either and the room was ready, so not knowing for sure and just wanting to get him settled, we took it. Here is a photo of the view, and it doesn't look that great, but I can assure you we had a much better view than what is shown here. I plan on posting more pictures when I can.

You can walk over and enter through the ground floor as well. We parked in the BLT lot when we arrived, walked to the CR to check in, and then went back to the car to get the suitcases and entered through the main lobby (which needs to be accessed via the key card).

I am currently in room 7134, standard view, almost same view as the OP, just first floor.

I did a mini trip report, I too do not think the black furniture is going to hold well, along with the sofa and chair in master (1 bedroom lock off) - way too light. I was shocked that the lamp in the room had a big ole dent in the shade? and the kitchen table has what I would call a "nail pop", almost a bump in it?? And you can see scratches already on the table and armoire in the master. Beautiful yes, but just not going to hold up in my opinion. And shears are a must in these rooms!!!

i have a feeling the whole point allocation is probably going to change at some point at bay lake tower..there are so many rooms that are so borderline between MK view, standard view or bay lake view that they really should just forget about all that and have the points be the same regardless of view.

the other thing i dont understand is that why does DVC have points per view for some resorts and not others? its an inconsistent system

Just placed a phone call and was told that I indeed had a Bay Lake view room and that it did not matter that the room was on the 2nd fl. I posted this information on the other thread so it can be updated appropriately.

Thanks for making the phone call and confirming that your room is considered a Lake View room. Based on the photos you posted, I have to admit that I would consider it to be Lake View as well.

The 2 trees were the only part that I didn't like with our view. But overall, I was fine with it, it was just not what I had pictured in my head!

Yikes! I will update the maps in the other thread! You can see the lake, so hard to argue with that.

I agree, it is going to be very difficult to justify why some room are one category or the other. I think most people will consider the rooms on higher floors as more preferred than lower floors. Maybe they will just go to standard (no water view, no MK view, on lower floors) and preferred (everthing else). Once the new wears off of MK view, I think LV will be as desirable, some of the water views are really beautiful.

I didn't care for that design either when I looked at the model over at SSR.

I just joined DVC at BLT and reading some of these post's are not making me feel to good:scared1: I hope i did not make a mistake?

We stayed in a BLT studio last weekend with a lake view on the 9th floor (but I can't remember the room number at the moment). The location is great and because we've long been CR fans, we enjoyed being able to go back/forth to the stores and eateries. Zipping over to the MK via monorail was great too (haven't done that in a while!).

However, the unit is quite small - even though I did know that going in. And while we did not mind the "pocket" door to the bathroom, we weren't crazy about the kitchen/bathroom design. The galley kitchen is great, but I sure wish they could have figured out somewhere else to put the bathroom sink.

Friends of ours stayed in a 2-bedroom unit and left just before we arrived and they loved it. We would definitely return, but probably opt for at least a one-bedroom unit.

I don't think you made a mistake! - You will love the location, and it really is a beautiful resort!

I think I just had a different expectation after staying at AKV the week it opened.

We are planning another trip for April, and my son has already requested staying there again. I own at Boardwalk, so I have to wait until the 7 month window, so I am guessing that my chances will be a lot slimmer of actually being able to book now that it has been open!

And, lastly - everyone has their own opinion and your experience will hopefully be different than mine was!

We stayed at BLT the 1st and 2nd of Sept and it was absolutely wonderful. We were in 7512, 1 bedroom standard view HOWEVER we looked to left and saw the castle and space mountain to the right the lake. AWESOME VIEW My DD and her DF were mesmerized...I cannot say enough about BLT. Fabulous, wonderful everything about it. Walking to Magic Kingdom is like 5 mins and heading to Contempo Cafe for stuff is like 5 mins. right over the walkway. I am in love with this place it is great. I will post pictures tonight. I am just so impressed. Check in was quick and fabulous they do know how to take care of you there. Room was ready and as I stated 7512 great view. We also went up to Top of the World Lounge view is breathtaking. I have pictures from there also.

The cruise to Bahamas was great we had a ball and Castaway Cay is awesome to. Disney Wonder is the ship that rescued the guy at sea who jumped from the Carnival Cruise line the night before our cruise.....the crew and ship is terrific.

Now the end staying at VWL - never again. There were more issues with the original room than I have time to list serious issues to not petty things. We got there at 11 from cruise, room was ready when we went into room with luggage well lets not go there. The list is endless. By the time the housekeeping manager was done talking to us it was near 12. We left and did our thing supposedly to have a room by 4 which we did BUT no luggage. It was MIA........We ended up getting in our luggage after 5, it was still in the old room manager forget to tell them to deliver it, new room wet rugs, and we missed our 5:00 dinner reservation we needed to take showers ended up eating at almost 7.

The first room was a little trashed despite the fact that housekeeping was there. I will not go into details but it was a mess and my DD's DF who came with us was on her very first visit. After seeing BLT and then experiencing the cruise on the Disney Wonder she was a little dismayed at VWL.

All I can say is never again. It really had me rethinking things because member services did nothing and VWL kept saying there was nothing they could do other than change our room.

Oh well live and learn.

However again BLT is the most beautiful place ever we LOVED it and the Disney Wonder is awesome.

I have plenty of room pictures from the view, the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, pictures, pools, grounds, etc. which I will post tonight a few if you want to see more pm me. If anyone has questions pm me.

Don't be afraid- no mistake! Sure the studio bath/kitchenette design leaves a little to be desired, but this is as close to the Magic kingdom as you can get without actually being there...very desired location, great views, many many pluses to go with a few negatives! As with anything new they just need a little time to work out the kinks... Don't fret, enjoy! We just bought BLT also- hard to choose between BLT and AKV, but BLT is smaller and may be harder to book if having to wait for the 7month window, AKV is larger so the better chance to book at 7 month window, an added bonus MF are less at BLT.....

Who does this to furniture in a hotel room? Geeze, is it *that* difficult to treat something that isn't yours with a little bit of respect? And, HOORAY, I'm so glad to read that Mousekeeping didn't attempt to clean the spilled purple crap. Maybe I feel particularly offended because BLT is my "home" but, geeze, this makes my blood boil!

To the OP, thank you so much for sharing your experience, and for taking the time to post pictures of your view. I'm glad that you had an (overall) good stay.
