DDP With A 2 Year Old

I have a 2 year old who will be going with us and we have the free dining. It just dawned on me that he won't ever have a drink with his meal since he'll be eating off our plates. He has a medical condition that makes letting him drink out of our cups dangerous so that is out. What have others done with kids this age?

You can just pay out of pocket for his drinks. Or, you can change his age to 3, and get him the dining plan. You would then pay the cost of a ticket but it might work out.

If everyone in your party just got 1 day tickets, that is all you would have to get him. Then when you get to the park, you can upgrade everyone else's tickets to the length that you need them.

This way, its really only costing you the price of a child's 1 day ticket for him to have his own meals the entire time--about $73.00.

Good luck!

I wouldn't change him to 3 years old just to get drinks. If the restaurant won't give him his own drink, then you can pay for him to have a drink. They don't cost all that much. Or you can bring along drinks for him.

If you want the option to order him his own food at a la carte restaurants, you may want to think about upgrading him to age 3.

When we were there in May they gave my DD-2 her own drink at no cost. We mostly ate at buffets and family style restaurants also so she could eat whatever she wanted.

Just bring a sippy cup with you and dump some of your drink in there before you drink out of it. You could take some disinfecting wipes with and wipe it after then rinse it so no more chemicals left. You can even make your own with a bleach and water solution and store in a ziploc. Just be careful as it could still bleach clothing. I am positive any place would bring you water for him and you could pay for an occasional milk or whatever you would like him to have. Have a great trip.

He definitely doesn't need his own dining plan. Last time we went, we had enough food to feed twice as many people as were in our party! I was just trying to figure out how to get him drinks. I thought about bringing juice from home, but we're flying.

I think we did 8 "menu service" TS meals back in March, and the only one that charged us for milk for the 2-year-old twins was Wolfgang Puck. Of course, we did have a paying 3-year-old as well, so that may have made a difference...

When we went in March our twin boys were 2. We were not charged for their drinks at any of the restaurants except Y&Y

Last year, at the TS restaurants, my 18 month old was always provided her own drink free of charge. As for the CS restaurants, I just poured some of my drink (I would get milk or juice) and pour it into a sippy cup I brought from home. It was no trouble at all! We will be doing it again this year.

I agree...Do not upgrade him to 3 years...Pay OOP for his drinks IF they charge you for them...I can only remember being charged once...

However, my best advice is to bring his own cup when you are in the parks and sitting down to eat..Have some drinks for him in the room ready to fill his cup before you leave the room and for the room as well...I pack one small extra suit case with juice, water, cups from home that are older that I plan to chuck when we leave Disney, and baby wipes for the week and then use that suit case for things we buy to bring home...You can also buy some drinks in the resort gift shop to have for his cup...Paying the fee and coming up with the minimum order for GG may make that option not worth it.

I'm not sure I understand the problem. Just order him his own drink and pay for it out of pocket. That's what we did with my DD2 when we went in May/June. Like others said, half the time we weren't even charged for it and when we were it wasn't that much. :confused3

Just simply buy him a drink at each meal, not sure where the confusion is. I found often they wouldn't charge us for our 2 year old though...

No matter what you do, do not upgrade it is soooooo not necessary, Me and my 2 yr old went last year, he did not go hungry, and he and I our BIG eaters, I did bring water and organic milk, the ones that don’t have to be refridgerated (just put them on ice), cereal bars, and crackers for him to snack on in the early morning(by the way they did fine on the plane in bubble wrap), I never paid for any drinks actually I was asked what does your son want to drink! and at PSB breakfast the waitress said she would refill his juice cup for us to take with us! if you are made to pay for his drinks whats a $1 or so a meal compared to paying for his park tickets, and etc.

We took DS at 19 months old and only one TS place - coral reef - charged us for his drink. As for CS places, I just got a juice or milk as my drink and shared with him.
