I agree that it's hard to find good dresses with straps- everything is strapless now it's so annoying- even when wedding dress shopping just by wanting straps it took away sooooo many choices. Alright here's my 2 sense on the bridesmaid dresses... I really like the first dress you posted (that's shown in peach), the 3rd one (shown in white), the 5th one (shown in brown), and of the Watters dresses I love the one on the far left! So you've got some good options to work with- I think I would go with what you can get the right colors in though!

As for balancing the 2 sides this is what I would do... I recently saw a wedding and their was a female attendant on the grooms side and she was in a black dress that matched the bridesmaids dresses and it really blended in nice with the tuxes (I wish I would have saved the pic bc it looked so nice and I wouldn't have pictured it that way unless I saw it). So I would do groomsmen with black tuxes and green vest, and the girl on the grooms side with a black dress with a green sash. Then the bridesmaids in a dark purple dress with a green sash. The man of honor could have a purple vest if he would agree otherwise I think he would look fine with a green vest and then just have him with a purple boutonierre. I think all the bridesmaids and the female grooms attendant could have the green umbrella... thus unifying the 2 sides. So the grooms attendant wouldn't look that different from the bridesmaids (only difference is black dress instead of purple) but she would blend in more with the groomsmen. Hope that makes sense.... just an idea for you!

Somehow I didn't realize that you were doing the parasols in place of flowers, that's a great idea, I love pictures with them :thumbsup2

Sorry I haven't been around, I was out of state for a couple weeks. That's great about the cake toppers!! I think having different dresses in the same color is a good idea. I know it makes it easier for BMs with different body shapes/sizes to find something they're comfortable in. How are you splitting the bridal party. Is your man of honor standing near you or Mike?

Aw, I hope you had fun while you were out of state. I'm not quite worried about the body shape issue. Most of them would fit into most dresses and the one that really won't...won't fit into much and honestly doesn't care. She's comfortable in her own skin.:)

Just getting caught up on everything. First off, I love the parasols, I know that the shots we have with my bridesmaids after the wedding holding theirs are some of my favorite pictures. What site are you looking at to buy yours? I got mine from www.asianideas.com and they are always running great deals.

As far as how to do the line-up with the guys, girls, colors, dresses, etc. I saw do what you want. My male cousin stood up on my side, but we had him wear the same color vest as the groomsmen. Then my bridesmaids all had different color same style dresses (some wore the jackets that came with the dress and others didn't), so we were all mixed up :goodvibes I know how hard it is to find a dress with straps, my BM ones had a thin strap, but I found a style that had a jacket which accomodated a few of my girls that weren't comfortable showing their arms. Anyway, do what you think is best and what you like, don't worry about how other people think you should do it.

Thanks Vanessa for the site. I really haven't checked yet I just googled green paper umbrella. I plan on my brother standing with me. Actually we're doing a Chuppah and my 2 brothers will be on my side and his sister and brother (his BM) will be on his side. I wasn't even thinking about the arm issues. I just don't want girls pulling up the dress or want any "accidents". I just had the idea I started with and I'm trying to think of these ideas and figure out which is best. But I do like the multi-color. Thanks! And I won't forget my :cool2:

Also you may want to check out www.ariadress.com they have sashes on most of their dresses and quite a few with straps plus lots of color options that you can mix and match however you want!

Adelia, you are the best! I really like that site. I found some dresses I liked, and I like the peek-a-boo skirts. Prices are pretty decent and they'll send out free color swatches...vs. $15 a color from dessy :scared1: And I love the idea of the female "groomsmen" in black (or grey actually) It's great! Definitely in the consideration.

It's quite alright Laurie. I love those pics too! Especially Vanessa's! Plus way cheaper. And I also don't like the idea of bridesmaids with flowers.

Oh I like that picture of the Watters dresses in different colors, very pretty!!

This is kinda what I meant

My favorites are the first ones and the Watters ones! Have you brought any of your girls to try them on yet, because that might narrow it down real quick! :thumbsup2 Sometimes certain dresses are just cut weird, and especially with tea length sometimes they are way too long and you'd lose the shape of the dress if you hemmed it.

I love the umbrellas, so pretty! Those will look great in pics, and if you do that instead of flowers it'll save you a bundle too! ;)

Well you're lucky Sam! I forget, do you have other girls in the bridal party? And$79! That's a great deal.

Here are some dresses I found. I don't know if any of these dresses go, but here are some Df and I liked from Jay Bari:

And here's a bunch of dresses I saw from Watters, that I think may all go together:

And I figured we could do the dresses in the aubergine/plum color and include the green in the paper umbrellas:

Also the chair sashes could be purple and green.

Any opinions?

I have 5 total, 2 MOH's and 3 BM's. I love the watters and watters dresses, but the Jay Bari dresses will look really nice in the same color too. I think as long as you can see samples side by side you will be able to make the choice no problem:goodvibes

I like the Watters dresses, they also look like they could be used again at a party.

Thanks Mandy! I really like the way that looks!

Having the girls try them on is a bit of the problem. Most of them don't live around here. So I'm hoping to find some and just try them on myself to get an idea.

Well at least I don't feel bad about having a lot of BMs. I think I prefer the watters dresses better but the first 2 jay baris would go well. We tried going to the big bridal store around here yesterday but it was closed. I feel bad because it's still over a year off but the truth is, the BM choices really determines a lot, including the colors of the wedding. If we love a dress in a different color, we may go in a different direction. We've decided on centerpieces regardless and we're going to go with the linens provided at LSS. So the colors will be in the diamond confetti for the centerpieces, chair sashes at the ceremony and BM dresses.

I like the Watters dresses, they also look like they could be used again at a party.

That's a good point Claire. Thanks!

I agree!!! Any of them would be great.... and I also like Mandy's idea of the same color, different tones look! :thumbsup2

I do like the different tones look, that's how we were feeling initially except throw in tones of green too instead of just the purples.

And to complicate things even more, here are some of the aria dresses:

The first 5 are the ones I like and the strapless to the right is just to show how I'd do the peek-a-boo skirt and alternating sash color. I still think we could do those in the different tones of purples, with the sashes and under skirts tying them together. Or even add in the greens too!

I really like how the aria site has examples of the dresses on real women to see how it fits on other sizes besides 2. AND they send FREE fabric swatches so I sent away for some.

:scared1::eek::eek::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::confused::sad2::sad2:

So this is me upset. Today I emailed my WC because I was concerned about the MK shoot (from the main board...it does count towards mins) I also asked about table set-ups since we want to preliminarily plan tables/seating and which snowglobes to buy. Well I was sadly informed that since October, there is no more outside floral inside the parks (which I knew) but that also referred to the snowglobes. I'm so upset. The snowglobe centerpieces were perfect for us. I'm not a floral girl...at all and I DON'T want floral centerpieces, at least nothing that I've seen so far. I mean I'm sure I'd settle for something different, and honestly the ones I'd like wouldn't cost more than the snowglobes. But I really had my heart set on that idea.

Also I realized my favorites jeans (which I've had for years) have a hole in a place that I can't really patch and that's always upsetting.

END OF DRAMA QUEEN RANT.

Actually by the end of typing that all up, I don't feel too upset. I'm still sad, but it could always be worse right?

I'm sorry to hear about them not allowing the snowglobes. I agree with not wanting flowers as well. Maybe you can look at candles, or floralytes. I'm not having a disney wedding, so I'm not too much help on the logistics, but there are still many different things you could do that use little or no flowers.

I hope my drama didn't rub off!! EEK!!

That truly stinks!! I would think that the Disney Florist would be able to buy the ones that are sold INSIDE the park and set them up that way. To say no snowglobes in general doesn't make any sense to me. BOO!!! :headache:

(And I hate to hear of the impending death of a favorite pair of jeans.:sad2:)

Will Disney Floral not do Snowglobes then for you? They said they would do vases with ornaments in for me.

thats crazy! i wanted to do something like that because i cant justify spending a fortune on table flowers and at least a snowglobe can last forever and you can give one from each table to someone (well thats what i was thinking of).

I think we should protest! :wizard:

I want snowglobes or something similar and i wanted to buy them myself too!

Awww that sucks! I am sure whatever you decide on instead will be beautiful!!! Maybe Disney has some other suggestions...you can't be the only bride EVER to not want floral centerpieces. Hang in there...you are right, it could be worse!

REALLY?!?!?! NO SNOWGLOBES???? That is silly- they're DISNEY snowglobes... not just random snow globes! I think that's taking the "no outside florist" rule a little too seriously:mad: Just talk with them- they have to have atleast some other option that's atleast comparable to snowglobes that they can add their premium price to:lmao:

I'm glad you like the Aria dresses- I love the peek a boo skirt too! I would do either green dresses with purple skirts and sashes or purple dresses with green skirts and sashes... or you could alternate... or you could do the bridesmaids in one and the groom's attendant in the other... so many options! Let me know what you think of the fabric swatches when they come!!!!

I wonder where that "October" date came from because we were planned our wedding almost 2 years ago that was the rule too. I would definitely talk to your floral manager instead of the wedding coordinator. My floral manager is the one who worked out things with our snowglobes even after my coordinator said she didn't think it was possible.

She told me that as long as we were providing something that Disney didn't offer that we could include it in our centerpeices. We still had to purchase anything else - candles, petals, ivy, etc. from them. Plus, we were responsible for having someone setting them out (during cocktail hour) and picking them up after the reception. In fact, our guests carried the snowglobe boxes out to the bus at the end of the reception. I designated my two hostesses to put them out on the tables.

I wouldn't give up yet. There were some things that I was told no about at first, but I kept trying. Definitely talk to floral next and say that you will have someone responsible for putting them out and picking them up. They told me that the reason they limit some items is because they don't want to be responsible if anything gets broken.

If they say no, ask them if they offer the snowglobes as an option since that's what you want (which they don't bringing you back to your first point that you want to provide them since Disney doesn't). Don't give up hope, try, try again :goodvibes

That is good.

Good luck picking!

Thank you all for your support! I will definitely keep the idea in my mind and it is definitely something to bring up when we sign our contract and meet our WP and the florist.

More ideas...so I've been trying to figure out budgets and stuff and it's very evident that you can spend $20k REALLY easy for this wedding. Got to be careful. And I'm totally in love with a newly found wedding blog: greenweddingshoes.com and I found this AWESOME wedding hair:

I figure I would just wear that awesome tiara/headband I have found on etsy

and these small drop pearl earrings that DF bought me when in Disney (and pearls we found from Pick-A-Pearl in Japan)
