Quick Trip, Quick Fix, Quick Service! -Final Thoughts QSDP/Complete 8/25

Oh serious yum on the Yak & Yeti pictures. THANK YOU! :thumbsup2 DH & I love Flametree BBQ (good food and awesome seating...all shady) but our guests in September, DS & BFF, are not big on BBQ at all so we will be trying Yak & Yeti counterservice. We liked the Y & Y table service, but have seen a fair number of negative reviews of the CS...so glad you enjoyed it again (thanks for the link to your previous review, too!)

I want to try Y&Y but I can't pull myself away from Flame Tree! LOL

Maybe in October if we are on the 'other' side of the park I'll try it.:goodvibes
I have to agree with the previous poster...I really want to try Yak and Yeti but we LOVE Flame Tree so much I can' tear myself away! Just might have to try and make it over to AK 2 days instead of just one!

I've always been a Flame Tree kind of girl...I mean, I've already admitted to not really liking Chinese food. I much prefer BBQ. But I really liked Y&Y when we tried it. I don't think I can go back

Yum that all looks so good! We ate at the table service at Yak and Yeti and it was delicious but haven't done the cs. I just can't bring myself to eat outside, because we almost always go in the summer it's too hot for me and I crave air conditioning! If we ever go in the cooler months it will definitely be something I want to try!!

I really want to try inside. But it never works out that way! We were thinking about keeping that possibility open for October, but then we have the free QS plan, so that went out the window.

We had egg rolls there last year and enjoyed them. Will have to try the fried rice this trip. Thanks for the pics.

It's tasty!

You can get fried rice and egg rolls with a snack credit? That's a great value. . . we have reservations for the Table service restaurant though. HMMMM, maybe I should change my reservations to Breakfast at Tusker House. But then we couldn't get those yummy Fried wontons they have for Dessert.

Decisions :confused3Decisions!:rotfl:

Yup! 1 snack credit each. So after that meal, our CS credits were used up and we had 4 snacks left.

The only real negatives on the Y&Y CS is the lack of shady seating and the line can move slow. But I see the slow moving lines at all WDW CS, so I'm kind of used to it by now :rotfl: The slow moving line gives you enough time to stalk out a seat though!

Up now: The great snack debacle...aka "Screw it, let's just go to Goofy's."

After lunch, we had 4 snack credits left. My brother wanted ice cream (mmm Mickey Mouse bars!) My Mom thought that sounded good too. Me? I was still stuffed from lunch. My plan was to go into a store and just grab some stuff for the plane ride home.

Problem #1: It started pouring. And no one wanted to eat ice cream while it was pouring. So we passed by quite a few ice cream stands just to get closer to the front of the park.

The rain cleared up and they were setting up for the parade...which leads us to...
Problem #2: All the ice cream vendors along the parade route were closing down! Drat...DOUBLE DRAT!

A ray of sunshine... Mom and Little brother found an open ice cream vendor. They took his KTTW card and I ducked into a store to grab some "to go" items. Found a section and asked the CM "what qualifies as a snack." "Anything you see." "Oh great." So I picked up some Gummies & the Minnie's Bake Shop Cookies (yum!) She goes to ring me out and proceeds to tell me how much I owe. Problem #3: CM's don't really know what counts as a snack! So we take off the gummies, and I just grab the cookies. At this point, Mom and Little brother walk into the store...sans ice cream. Problem #4: The ice cream cart they went to could only accept cash (there's always one!) :rotfl: This is starting to get comical. All we wanted was some ice cream! But that CM told them that there was a vendor on the way out...so we were heading that way for pictures, might as well look. At this point, we're down to 3 snack credits since we did manage to spend 1.

Problem #5: No ice cream carts on our way out (we didn't really expect there to be one at that point.) I check my watch, if we leave right now, we can make it to Goofy's before I need to go to the airport. My brother decides to just drive home instead of deal with the traffic over there, but we tell him we'll get him something and Mom will bring it home.

So I hop in my Mom's car and we drive over to DTD. :drive: She drops me off, I hurry in to Goofy's and she parks. She puts together the order for my brother's make your own, and I get in the regular line. You see, the make your own looked fairly busy, but it was just because the one CM was flirting with some girls  Thanks girls, you held him up long enough for us to sneak our order in before yours ;) We got my brother a "fudge cookie" dipped in milk chocolate covered in reese's candy. I got a gingerbread man. I like the make your own, but I wanted him plain. And my mom got the 3 pre-made pretzels. :upsidedow No more problems!!! We got our snacks, I made it to DTD, making my 'round the 'World adventure complete :woohoo:

My Gingerbread man was tasty the next day :goodvibes And this reminds me...I still have those Minnie's Bake Shop Cookies to eat :yay:

I have just my "final thoughts" to do...then I'll start my trip report!

Thanks for the counter service pictures. I really wanted to try the fried rice, but wasn't sure if the size would be enough for my lunch. Def. looks like enough to me!

Ooh, I love the fact that some items at Y&Y count as snacks!! This is really cool, considering I'm probably going to be sharing with my sis in November! Food pictures look fantastic, especially those from Goofy's!

Really loved these reviews, I think we might consider the QSDP for a future trip.

Ohhh, I didn't know they had gingerbread at Goofy's. There go all my snack credits.

Oh my goodness, it's so much food. Plenty for lunch! Especially if you grab the egg rolls too. If you get just the fried rice, you might actually finish it, but fried rice and something else, it's a lot!

If you're sharing and grab say egg rolls and one of the main dishes (the fried rice is good, but the honey chicken already comes with rice!) you'll have a LOT of food, plenty to share!

I really liked the plan, I'll get to my final thoughts as soon as I'm done the replies here :goodvibes

I love the gingerbread men. They've got cute little Mickey ears that have been dipped in chocolate too! If I feel like waiting around I'll get the make your own and have them dip them in dark chocolate :cloud9: At the very bottom of one of my pictures you can see them sneaking out. But I know I've seen them on one of MickeyNikki's reports. She's a bigger fan of them than I am!

Thanks for the great report.

I'll be looking forward to your TR too!:goodvibes

Thanks! I'm going to do my final thoughts now because I'm itching to get started on the TR! I can't keep both going at the same time :rotfl:

Thanks for reading along everyone! :goodvibes

Since the QSDP is a new-er option for people and I had such a hard time finding information on it before our trip, I thought I'd do a "final thoughts" portion for people looking for how the plan worked. First...I loved it. If that wasn't apparent in my report, sorry :rotfl: But I did. It was great for our trip.

Our trip lasted just 3 days, a very full 3 days. I was there before lunchtime on Saturday and left right before dinnertime (grabbed it at the airport) on Monday. And to recap, we used 2 CS + 1 snack on Saturday, paid lunch OOP. Used 4 CS + 1 snack on Sunday, Corn Dog Nuggets were OOP. On Monday, we used 2 CS + 6 snacks, breakfast was accidentally OOP. I think if you planned well, that breakfast on Monday didn't need to be OOP, we could have used snacks (which would have helped our whole debacle later that day!) Because of my very full travel days, I think it was good that we filled in with an OOP lunch, but I don't think we needed to either. We had so much food with our meals that I could have easily split things, my brother on the other hand eats like a horse, so he was eating full meals. I think it depends on who you're traveling with. I did enjoy the one sit down meal.

As far as costs go, for us it was $30/person/night, so $120 total for our stay between the two of us. On CS meals alone we spent about $135...without trying to get the best "bang for our buck." We ordered and ate what we wanted without trying to get the most expensive item on the menu. Most places were about $30 for two adults, the Pepper Market was $45. So on CS alone, we reached the cost of the plan without a problem, without trying. On top of that we go the mugs that cost $12 and snacks...assuming $3 x 8 is another $24. So as far as getting your money's worth, I think we did. We definitely used the mugs in the morning. I think if we were located closer to El Centro with our room, we would have used them more. Just for a convenience factor, they were awesome (plus I now have a cool Disney mug :woohoo:)

As far as the whole thought process of "I don't want to eat burgers and fries every day!" ...just look at what we ate. There's only one time we ate fries. And no burgers. I don't eat burgers at Disney. With only a little bit of planning on your part, you can definitely eat well on the QS plan. At no time did I feel like I was depriving myself. I love Disney sit-down restaurants, but on a trip that's 3 days long, I didn't want to be spending all my time in restaurants (Chefs was a nice break from the heat though, and I planned that purposefully for that day since we wouldn't be going back to our hotel for a rest!)

I think if you're the kind of family who eats one or two sit down meals per vacation and the rest you grab CS, this is a great plan for you and I would totally recommend grabbing it. If you do eat more TS, then it's not worth it. It's all based on the type of trip you want to have. When my boyfriend and I are going down in October, we're staying at Pop and have the QSDP for free. After this trip, I am so excited. We could have upgraded, but because we're going down to eat our way around the World Showcase, it would have meant changing our entire trip...not worth it. If you're a QS kind of family, or going down on a short trip where restaurants aren't in the cards...get the plan. It was wonderful!

Oh...one more thing. I mentioned it in a reply earlier, but it was suggested to me to get the WDW dining app for my iTouch. I loved it. While I have a pretty good idea of what each place has, my brother didn't really. So I could say to him, I'm thinking either Columbia Harbor House or Pecos Bills. And then hand him my iTouch, he could look at the menus for both and then say to me, Columbia Harbor House sounds good to me. It saved us walking around from place to place trying to find something we'd both like. So if you have an iPhone or iTouch, it's worth the 99 cents to download. I know it'll come in handy with the boyfriend in October too!

I loved reading your QSDP reviews. It's a plan I'll never get at WDW, because I am a TS gal, but I do eat CS at DL and it's nice to read about the experiance on the other side of the country.

I had a dream about gingerbread men last night though.:headache: I'm going to have to make some tonight I think. My craving won't hold out until Sept 24th:laughing:

Thanks for the wonderful review!! I must agree with the fabulous review of the QSDP. We did for a week in earlier this month and it worked out wonderfully for us! Thanks for going in detail for all of us!

Thank you very much for the QSDP review. I found it very helpful to hear an actual recent experience. :thumbsup2

Excellent review! We've been considering the QSDP ourselves and this report was very helpful. I really enjoyed your report and appreciate all the pictures. Thanks for taking the time to post it!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the great report! I've been leaning toward getting the QSDP for my solo trip in December (while I don't mind dining alone, not sure I want to do a lot of TS meals like that), and you've sold me on it. Really looking forward to trying out Yak & Yeti and some of the other spots, and the snacks from Goofy's!!

Really great reviews - thanks so much. And thanks for your final thoughts, some useful info there :thumbsup2

Fabulous reviews!

Thanks!!!

I think that'd be like me going to DL and eating nothing but CS! I don't think it'd be much fun at all!!! But the purpose of this trip was much less about the food and more about rides, parks, etc. So it made more sense this time. In October we want to just do the booths, so it makes sense then (and it's a shorter trip...if longer it wouldn't!) Plus, when my AP expires, I can go visit my parents and talk them into heading up and going to a Disney Resort restaurant ::yes::

I know you can get the gingerbread men elsewhere, but they're nice and fresh at Goofy's.

I didn't do it on this trip just because it's so hot, but Tangeriene Cafe is really good too!

Really great reviews - thanks so much. And thanks for your final thoughts, some useful info there :thumbsup2

Thanks! I'm so glad this is helpful to some people! :yay:

And I started my Trip Report for anyone who wants to follow the rest of my days :) The link is on the first page and here: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?p=33314767#post33314767

I already have my Mom on board to share the corn dog nuggets with me. No doubt I am trying them.

Your Y&Y counter service reminded me of my day alone with my littles ones. My favorite counter service meal. We too had too much soda.

I am sad it is over but glad you are going again for more reviews.

I changed our Raglan Road to Les Chefs de France. It was in order to see Illuminations but your review helped me pick where in Epcot to eat.

Thanks for sharing.
