Sorry about the car! :guilty: That really stinks, but you know what? That just means an even better and more awesome car is in your future! :goodvibes

And as a fellow geek-girl, you know I am loving the idea of the alternative toppers! :hyper: I think ANY of those mentioned would be possibly the coolest thing ever. DF and I would have had a Joker and Harley Quinn one if we could have found it. I also almost wanted to get two Darth Vader figures and just put a little veil on one. Lol! :lovestruc Be sure to let us know whatcha pick!

Oh and fry and leyla would be awesome!!!

By the way did you hear they're doing another season?! kind of the same things as family guy, they started playing the re-runs on cartoon network late at night and because its so popular they signed on all the old cast and a new season will be out in 2010. Ok now that i've just shown how geeky i am....

oh and a darth vader bride would be awesome! i'm a huge star wars geek... Df not so much but I so would've loved that on your cake Anj!

Bummer about the car. Hopefully you find something soon!

I :lovestruc the last pair of earrings. They're fantastic!

Thanks Joanna. I love that last pair too. I wonder how heavy they are.

Harley Quinn and Joker would be awesome. And I love the darth vader toppers!! We consider Han and Leia but honestly Mike is more of an Indy fan and we then consider Marion and Indy...but then they would just look like us anyway (same colorations) so we could just use figures. That is the easy solution for the toppers, just to buy figures and plop them on top. But custom made ones (to look like us) are $$$$. But we do the science geek idea. Who knows.

It's ok, Katie, I love love love Futurama and I'm so excited about the new season. We would totally do a futurama cake and may do so for the home reception, and use the quote: U leave me breathless, from the candy hearts episode. And we found this awesome cake online:

And even more geeky is my SIL said we should dress up her son (the ring bearer) as Frodo and wear the rings around his neck, but DF put his foot down.

And btw I did find a car. I'll post a pic as soon as I take one. I bought a 2010 Subaru Forester! :dance3: It's a little more money (ok a lot) but it's a much better car and we felt it was more of a family car (I can't believe we were thinking in terms of our future unborn children hehe) so it is a better buy overall. It will last longer and it's very nice. I'm happy!! :yay::yay::banana::banana:

Grats on your car!! :goodvibes And omg! That Futurama cake is so cute! I'm like you - thrilled beyond reason that the show is FINALLY coming back to television for a new series! I always thought it was ridiculous it got canceled in the first place.

Everything looks great. I'm going to have to check out Etsy!!!

Honey, you definitely have to! It's the best. You can find anything.

:cool1: This is me being excited. I love that cake. My parents feel that if we're having a disney wedding we should not have a futurama cake. We could do the cake for something else though. But I don't care about mixing themes. It wasn't appreciated for what it was. But now it is, because it's such a great show. Funny, silly but sentimental. Plus I love nibbler.

I feel like I'm in a lull for wedding planning. My mom doesn't want us buying anything yet because we're waiting on the wedding funds to come in. It's a long complicated story but in the end, it's basically my mom is getting part of her inheritance now (btw my grandmother is still alive and better be for my wedding! ) and we're just waiting for it because part of it is being used to pay for the wedding. :woohoo::hug: I love my parents. But Mike is getting antzy and wants to order stuff himself and I keep telling him to wait. Plus I just spent a buttload of money buying a car and am not going to get paid until September because that's when school starts. Then I want to order some snowglobes, order sample silk/latex flowers, and the mouse shoes (thanks again Katie) and I still need to pick out hair so I can order jewelry.

Sorry you're in a lull, but those earrings are all very pretty and your ideas for cake toppers are really cute :) Yay for getting a new car!!

I just read your whole PJ and I'm so excited for you! :goodvibes I would have loved to have had a Disney wedding- someday I hope to have a vow renewal at Disney.

I love the dress choice and all the great etsy finds. I still say you go for the cat invites though :lmao: I laughed so hard at those! :rotfl2:

It's ok Missy. I'm still in a lull, thus the lack of posting. I found a person who makes the cake toppers on ebay at a fraction of the cost.
That cake is awsome!
It is soooo cool!

Thanks for reading Kim! Etsy is the best. And I do have the cat invites. We're going to use them for Save the Dates. The artist is Stella Marrs, there are a bunch of funny cat ones.

So I've been browsing, and found a couple of BM dresses that are decent. Why is it so hard to find a dress with straps and a sash. I hate strapless and it's so hard to find them!

with the appropriate colors of course.

I like the 2nd one, its lovely.

Thanks Claire! I saw some color samples from that company today and found some that could work, but...

So today we were killing some time and went into a tux/bm shop and talked to someone about such things. Saw the morning tux in person and it looked awesome. Sadly we realized we'd need an ivory undershirt not white since my dress is off-white. So we can't do the grey vest like Heidi, more like a greyish taupe. It looked pretty cool. We always talked about colors. I'm not quite sure how to work the green/purple. I know most people have the bridal party wear one color with the Best man and MOH a different color or dress style. Problem is I have a man of honor, but we're including one of DF's female friends to balance the party so that means 6 females. I like the same dress, different colors ideas, but the man at the shop said that we didn't want to break up the wedding party by "sides" so how would we work colors? He suggested one color, different dresses. I'm having difficulty with this.

What do you ladies think:

a) Same dress, different colors. If so, how to break up the colors? And should I use all four, the purples, the greens, or mixed?

b) Same color, different dresses? If so, which color?

c) Same dress, same color?

And what about the groomsmen. I had an idea, that the groomsmen would be in one color (like the dark purple), the best man be in one of the greens, my man of honor in light purple, and the dad's in the other green.

Help!! :flower3::upsidedow

K first I love the first dress you posted. Second I saw a pic the other day that was different dresses in the same shade (like blue for instance). It looked pretty because it fit together but wasn't matchy matchy. I like the idea of same color in different dresses if I was to pick from your choices.

Hey Sam! OK BM dress help, I so wanted to do different dresses in the same color but when I had my 2 MOH's actually agree on a $79 dress I said to heck with it and let them be happy! But I love the look of different dresses in the same color, does the 1st dress have anything in the same range that may work?

Thanks Amanda. Mind sharing the pic if you can. I'm having a problem finding pics of this concept.

Well you're lucky Sam! I forget, do you have other girls in the bridal party? And$79! That's a great deal.

Here are some dresses I found. I don't know if any of these dresses go, but here are some Df and I liked from Jay Bari:

And here's a bunch of dresses I saw from Watters, that I think may all go together:

And I figured we could do the dresses in the aubergine/plum color and include the green in the paper umbrellas:

Also the chair sashes could be purple and green.

Any opinions?

Okay, I can see how you are making yourself crazy, my head is spinning from trying to compare all the options. :goodvibes

I do think the last set of Watters dresses go together, I also like the idea of the same dress in different colors of purple and lavender/lilac, and the greens. I do think the easier way to do it is different dresses and the same color, you may make yourself crazy with all the color options and color combinations. I know my FSIL did everyone in the same dress/color and just did different flowers for the MOH and Best Man.

Oh, the white dress is pretty too.

Haha I'm not going too crazy. Just killing time before I have to start working again. I actually really like doing this planning stuff. I'm just trying to play with the ideas in my head. I like the initial idea but was talking to some wedding who emphasized that the point of the bridal party in the one dress was to make them stand out, and I guess one color is better than one dress style. What IS driving me nuts is the lack of choices. I want something with straps (and like 80% of the dresses are strapless :confused3 ) and two-tone (or at least a sash or something)

And also I don't think I'm going to floral from the BMs. I like the idea of the paper umbrellas (like you :cutie:) and it's WAYYY cheaper.

I like the white dress too. I like my favorite (Besides the initial) is the first Watters dress (in the pale sage green)

Sorry I haven't been around, I was out of state for a couple weeks. That's great about the cake toppers!! I think having different dresses in the same color is a good idea. I know it makes it easier for BMs with different body shapes/sizes to find something they're comfortable in. How are you splitting the bridal party. Is your man of honor standing near you or Mike?

Just getting caught up on everything. First off, I love the parasols, I know that the shots we have with my bridesmaids after the wedding holding theirs are some of my favorite pictures. What site are you looking at to buy yours? I got mine from www.asianideas.com and they are always running great deals.

As far as how to do the line-up with the guys, girls, colors, dresses, etc. I saw do what you want. My male cousin stood up on my side, but we had him wear the same color vest as the groomsmen. Then my bridesmaids all had different color same style dresses (some wore the jackets that came with the dress and others didn't), so we were all mixed up :goodvibes I know how hard it is to find a dress with straps, my BM ones had a thin strap, but I found a style that had a jacket which accomodated a few of my girls that weren't comfortable showing their arms. Anyway, do what you think is best and what you like, don't worry about how other people think you should do it.
