After the free upgrade pins for value resort guests went out a month or so ago and I didn't receive a pin (nothing new as I've never received one). I emailed Disney resorts questioning how these pins work. In the email I mentioned I had been a long time customer and wondered why I have never received a pin while someone I knew with only 1 visit had received multiple pins. I emailed them in a nice tone but just questioned the methodology to the pins and suggested that maybe there should be special offers for frequent customers such as myself, similar to what is done on cruise lines. To my pleasant surprise an agent called me just yesterday and offered up one of those free upgrades to a studio at okw thanking me for my feedback :). Plus I somehow even got a refund of $3, not sure how they came up with that number but I can certainly say I'm pleased as punch with all of the results!

Congrats!

I've wondered how those work. I used my "junk e-mail address/name" to get a sample quote earlier this year and that ID has received at least 5 PINs since March.

I actually booked our trip under my regular e-mail addy and haven't gotten a thing in over a year.

Aaaargh double post... At least I've finally gotten one of those myself. :)

I'd also like to know who you sent it to. I have been burning with curiosity as to why we were one of the families who didn't get bumped to a DVC...we're celebrating 2 birthdays while we're there (actually on the birthdays, not just in the same month) and have come with a good deal of frequency to Disney (5 times in 6 years). They sent me the 40% off PIN for my birthday, BUT it covered every day in the week EXCEPT my birthday weekend since it's Labor Day. Point being, it didn't cover our dates so it was useless.
I feel I've already gotten a great deal with free dining and I'm not complaining (well, not a lot:rotfl:) but I'd like to know why some do and some don't. It may help in my future decisions. Thanks!

My experience is the more you go the less you get form Disney. They figure you are a captive audience and will vacation with or without a deal. I have never gotten a PIN for anything from Disney and I go usually 3 or more times per year for the past 9 years, less frequently before that.
My parents who go about 1 time every few years get PINS all the time, my sister who travels similiarly to them again gets them frequently. Me never, not once!:confused3

Congrats to the OP! Now why didn't I think of doing something like that before?!?!?!

That is what I've always thought. We go 2-3 times a year and have been doing so since '99 and never once have we had the fortune of getting a PIN code and only once did we get a bounceback offer. I always just figured that by our name in their system it says something about "Can't go longer than six months... no need to dangle cheese.... will be back". :)

:lmao: Can you imagine how funny it would be if they actually used that system! :lmao: Thanks for the laugh, that made my afternoon!

I sent my email to wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld dot com (sorry for that email but i dont have enough posts to post an email address). I didn't address it to anyone specifically. Though I did get results I'm more than pleased with, I still didn't get any kind of response as to how the Pin process is handled other than purely random.

What Disney should do is an alteration to the bounceback. You should be able to book a bounceback offer within, say 3-6 months. That would make it better. I found it hard to make the commitment to rebook during my last vacation, but after a few months of reality, I might have returned within a year if the price was right.

OP that is awesome. As I posted on another thread, I can not seem to understand either how they assign pins. When I booked our last trip for April, I used my email for my mom & brother's room. That way I would have all the paperwork together.

Well since last August they both have received several pin codes addressed to them but with my email. They hardly go and ME who did all the work and always looking for some kind of deal gets NOTHING.

This is my situation. I take my niece most every visit and when they send out pin codes, she receives them. However, after many years of being a faithful Disney customer and having a trip booked for my daughter's birthday next month, I received a pin code last week. It was just so exciting receiving a pin after all those years.

I did this same exact thing a few months ago about pins in general. I got the generic email stating the received my email and somone would respond to me within 10 days and no one every did. I was shocked. I have emailed Disney before and always have received a response. :confused3

I received that same generic letter as well. But they did respond albeit 3 weeks later. But better late than never.

I sent my email the beginning of June I just checked. Now this hasn't been my first email over the years and they have always responded so I was kind of surprised I didn't get a response.
