After an uneventful flight that landed early but got to the gate late :confused3, we began our long journey via Magical Express to Kidani Village with stops at POP, CBR and CS. We arrived just in time to check in at AKV and grab lunch at Sanaa while they cleaned our room. Our ADR was for 2:50, we arrived at Sanaa at 2:55 and we were seated by 3:00.

The room and decor is beautiful. Here are a few pics:

We were seated at a 6 top by the window. It was fantastic, we had views of all of the animals and the girls had a blast.

P1060303-1.jpg

P1060304.jpg

We actually got to watch the Giraffes eat their lunch as we dined, as CMs brought out fresh leaves and hung them from a tree.

Our server was Ken from Orlando, FL. He was quite attentive and knew the menu very well. The place was quite empty, so it was good that he was so attentive.

As you know we are on the DxDDP so we started with apps.

Mrs. Potts started with the roasted cauliflower with tomato sauce.
Before:

After:
P1060313.jpg

DW and I shared the Indian Style Bread Service - this counts as 2 apps:
We had the Naan, Roti and Paneer Paratha with Cucumber Raita, Mango Chutntey and Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus. These were Ken's recomendations

P1060309.jpg

P1060310.jpg

We did pretty well on these as well :lmao:
P1060311.jpg

Overall I felt that the apps were the strongest course these were simply delicious. The standout was the Paneer Paratha bread - outstanding. The Mrs. Potts loved the cauliflower. I tasted it too and thought it was pretty good as well - kinda fried but not greasy at all.

Here is Ariel's appetizer - its carrots and celery with dip - she scooped them all up and bit them at once as I tried to take a picture.
P1060307.jpg

I'll say this once and get it over with. The kids' meals at WDW are terrible and are poorly constructed. I think they are far too dumbed down and are boring and there is little or no variation from place to place. But the worst part is 1/2 of them come with app/entree/desert all on one plate and the other 1/2 comes in courses. This leads to strange service for the kids. Aurora ordered the fish, which came all on one place so no app for her.
P1060315.jpg

Moving along to entrees:
DW and I ordered the Slow Cooked in Gravy, Simple and Well Seasoned, she had the Chicken with Red Curry Sauce, Shrimp with Green Curry Sauce and the Basmati Rice.
P1060319.jpg

So naturally, I had the other choices: Beef Short Ribs and Paneer Cheese and Spinach with Five Grain Pilaf.
P1060318.jpg

I thought the standout among these dishes was the shrimp and DW thought it was the chicken. Either way the curry sauces were the way to go, they were both outstanding. The beef and the paneer were average. The pilaf and the rice were below average, so we left these over.

Mrs. Potts had today's sustainable fish. It was a halibut in a light broth. She raved about this dish.
P1060317.jpg

Ariel ordered the cheeseburger, which was quite tasty.
P1060320.jpg

On to dessert, which was the weakest by far. The one standout was DW's Chai Cream. This was great and I recommend you have this desert.
P1060327.jpg

Other desserts included:
The dessert sampler - No sugar added Mango Pudding, Cardamom-Butter Cake and Egg-less chocolate cake.
P1060326.jpg

They may want to add egg to the chocolate cake and sugar to the mango pudding and lose the Cardamom cake altogether.
They could also add some sugar to the Vanilla-Coconut Rice pudding
P1060328.jpg

Ariel did enjoy her ice cream
P1060325.jpg
.

I can't forget DW's Loose Leaf Tea - she was soooo excited about this and it did not dissappoint.
P1060321.jpg

P1060322.jpg

So for each review, our 3 adult diners will score each restaurant on a scale of 1-5 stars for a possible perfect score of 15 stars.

I gave Sanaa a 3.5 out of 5 - based mostly on poor desserts
DW gave Sanaa 4.5 out of 5
Mrs. Potts gave Sanaa 5 out of 5
Total score 13 out of 15

FYI our bill before gratuity for 3 adults and 2 children was $130.11

Great start! I keep going back & forth about trying to fit Sanaa into our next trip. We do not like curry so I am just not sure if the flavor palette there will work for us. The restaurant looks so beautiful!

Great start on your live reviews. Sanaa seems to get mostly mixed reviews but we're giving it a try on our next trip, think I'll try the Chai Cream for dessert as that always seems to be everyones favourite.

I think it's worth the trip.

Good choice. This is the best choice.

I think the cheeseburger looked good! ::yes::

...and darn food reports...I'm running late for Church! Whoopsies!

So after a quick-ish jaunt through Adventureland, Frontierland and parts west where we ran into this cowpoke

This got us thoroughly in the mood for Whispering Canyon Café. For those of you who are not familiar with WCC, it’s a loud, kind of raucous, cowboy themed joint, known for its silly antics and bottomless milkshakes and skillets. Honestly, this was DW’s choice, as I could have skipped it for this trip.

So we boarded the boat from Magic Kingdom for what proved to be a very pleasant trip to the Wilderness Lodge, the site of WCC. We sat out in the front of the boat, where a very helpful and pleasant CM explained to DDs all of the different lights and sounds that the boats use to navigate and keep from colliding into each other. We even had a bit of an awkward moment, as we passed under the monorail as one was going clockwise and another moved counter-clockwise, Ariel shouted out, “Oh no, the monorails are gonna crash into each other!” The CM, said not usually, that only happens late at night, when we’re closing up. Anyway, on to WCC.

Our ADR was for 8:30, we arrived at 8:23 and we were seated very promptly at 8:30 by Charles, an older gentleman, who called himself “Grampa”, who’s been working at WCC since as long as we’ve been going there. DDs passed the 7 minutes wait time with Lincoln Logs
P1060344.jpg

Our server’s name was Dave, but he called himself the Medicine Man, he was very much in character, but not too obnoxious, and very efficient, making sure we always had what we needed.

DW’s Chocolate Milkshake
P1060348.jpg

My Diet Coke
P1060351.jpg

Cornbread
P1060352.jpg

Here are our appetizers
Western Chips and Dip – steer clear of this one. The chips tasted stale and the queso dip was pretty mediocre. DW and I are big chile con queso fans and this just did not stack up.
P1060354.jpg

Barbeque Pork Spring Rolls – the stand out appy. This was delicious, if not a bit greasy. It’s a pair of spring rolls stuffed with barbeque pulled pork and cheddar, served with a barbeque-mayonnaise dipping sauce. mmmmm
P1060356.jpg

Kid’s Salad
P1060355.jpg

Spinach and Pear Salad (hold the Bleu Cheese)
P1060358.jpg

Here’s the salad that comes with the Skillet
P1060359.jpg

On to the main courses.
Being at WCC, I had to sample the skillet.
P1060368.jpg

Some of you may notice the absence of chicken and coleslaw. DW pointed this out and the Medicine Man delivered the goods.
P1060370.jpg

Since we were on DxDDP, I opted not to get any refills on the skillet, though DW and DDs did get milkshake refills.
The standout on the skillet is the chicken, the rest is average bbq fare.

DW’s Chicken Vegetable Penne Pasta
P1060369.jpg

She said the pasta was very good, but the chicken was “yucky”.

Mrs. Potts had the Grilled Rib-Eye Steak. I guess it was camera shy.

Ariel had the chicken skillet and Aurora had the ribs skillet.
P1060367.jpg

P1060366.jpg

DDs had a great time here. Now that they’re 4, they willingly participated in some of the antics like fetching ketchup and horseracing and had a ball.
P1060361.jpg

P1060362.jpg

After dinner, we were completely zonked, especially, Aurora. We took our desserts to go.
Deep-Dish Bourbon Pecan Pie - with Chocolate Sauce
P1060371.jpg

Kahlúa-flavored Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Mousse Filling and Fudge Icing
P1060372.jpg

Apple-Caramel Pie - Fresh Granny Smith Apples, Sugar Cookie Crust, Streusel Topping, and Caramel Drizzle and Kid’s cookies
P1060373.jpg

We picked up our refillable mugs when we got back to the AKV and sampled these deserts, along with some “coffee”.

The deserts were very sweet, but nothing special. If you go to the WCC, go for the silliness and the fun, not necessarily the food. We each gave it 3 stars for a final score of 9/15.
Our bill would have been $175.88 at WCC if not for the DxDDP.
FYI the 5 mugs would have cost $69.18

No problem.

Okay, bright and early for our ADR at Boma, then off to AK. We walked over to Jambo House this morning, we are staying in the wing that's closer to Jambo than the Kidani lobby, so we walked to the end of the hall and down the stairs to a non-descript exit. Through the door wee burst into a sort of twilight zone that was full of CMs smoking cigarettes and there were no guests. It apparently empties into a large service area. The door did not say emergency only or authorized personnel only. :confused3 We quickly got our bearings and walked to Jambo House and arrived at Boma at 7:50 for our 7:45 ADR, the made us wait 5 minutes and seated us in the nearly empty Boma. Our server was Laura from Lakeland, FL. She was fine, cleared dishes, brought drinks, just what you'd need at Boma.

Here are some pics of the buffet.

In my opinion, Boma is the best breakfast at WDW - foodwise, hand's down. I thought they had something for everyone, but apparently I was wrong. :confused3
I am an adventurous eater, I love to try new things and I don't mind a bit of spice in the morning. Maybe that's the profile of a Boma-lover. IMHO, the standouts were the goat cheese scrambled eggs, the bobotie and the buscuits with curried sausage gravy:worship:. They also had an omlette station which is always a plus. I gave it 5 stars.

DW on the other hand, gave it three stars and thought the food was meh and coffee was was horrible. (I thought the first pot was okay, but I agree with her on the 2nd). Maybe she's a convert to nescafe. :rotfl2:

Mrs. Potts thought it was only okay as well and gave it 3.5 stars. Se also hated the coffee.

Thus, it is with a heavy heart that I must announce that Boma breakfast only received 11.5/15 stars.:sad2:

Here are some of the plates:

Some pastries
P1060404.jpg

Mrs. Potts omlette
P1060405.jpg

And the winner - the buscuit with curried sausage gravy.

This meal would have cost us $75.75.

Looking forward to Jiko for dinner tonight.

Great pictures. Sanaa looks so nice inside. I can't wait to see it in person. Hope your having a great trip. Looking forward to more pics.
