The What's For Dinner Thread - August '09(recipe index in OP)

I hate that she has a cough but I see where the doctors are coming from. A cough is a way for the body to react to something going on. It's uncomfortable but the way our body is made to handle things. Sometimes it's best to let the immune system the good Lord made us work it's magic - even when it doesn't move as fast as we'd like  I'm honestly pretty anti-antibiotics because I likely have Crohn's disease thanks to the overuse of them in years past. I don't think everyone realizes how bad they can be when used too often; I certainly didn't. NOT saying that's what is happening here at all, just commenting that it's not necessarily the doctors not taking things seriously - it's just sometimes simply the best thing to do is let the body and medication work together to solve the issue.

I hope I don't step on toes

For me I totally agree about the antibiotics since I am allergic to many of them. I had to take a daily dose of penicillin while growing up to ward of infections when they found that I have mitral valve proplapse. I finally found a doctor who agrees with me to let my body do its thing. She follows me closely when I do get bronchitis but she just treats the bigger stuff with an inhaler.

Good morning!

So the other day I said I was going to try to come back to comment on stuff, well that didn't happen. I fell asleep. I've been having a good week, just busy. I'm going to try to catch up this weekend but now I'm so far behind I might as well just jump in where I'm at. :sad2:

Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well and has a great day today. :grouphug:

I hope school is going well for you.

Quick check in while I have my coffee...we have an 8am orthodondist appointment. I have to make them early because A is getting molds done and he gags so they want him on an empty stomach.

Not sure what tonights dinner will bring. The appliance place never called back so I still do not have a stove or oven. It did take me a while to get used to the stove. I always used it as a counter top until I left a burner on and melted the plug to the blender! :headache:

Thank you for all your warm wishes for this thyroid thing...I am sitting here sweating which is another symptom but it could be worse. I just hate that yucky feeling...my hair actually gets soaked. Ewww!

OK, of to get the kids out of bed. I will probably take them to breakfast.

Question: I have my cousin and her family coming over tomorrow and not sure if she will stay for lunch. I bought alot of cold cuts, salad and rolls in case they stay (they are picking their son up from a camp that is in the area at 9:30 so its an early visit). Is that n OK lunch to offer? I just do not feel like grilling or anything and she may not even stay that long.

Have a great day my friends!

That is just wrong when people don't call when they say they will.
I think your offerings are just fine, I wouldn't expect anything else.

Yesterday was a long day. It took 2 1/2 hours to register and get through the lines, find his locker try opening the locker a few dozen times :confused3I grilled some catfish and had some corn with it.

Today we are going to the zoo and getting some exercise. I don't know why but I am gaining weight.

Of course this is a fine lunch! Don't worry about it.

I made pizza last night. Here is a picture.

Evening Y'all,

Thanks for all the suggestions! I tried it all today & nothing really helped. Poor kid, Poor Nana & her Poor Mama. By this evening I had a coughing kid who was totally hyped up on honey & hard candies. Is this week over yet?

Not yet sweetie, but almost. I sure hope she starts feeling better real soon. I hope you don't start the cough. That couldn't be good.

I hate that she has a cough but I see where the doctors are coming from. A cough is a way for the body to react to something going on. It's uncomfortable but the way our body is made to handle things. I have to agree with you. I very rarely get sick and even when I do very rarely take an antibotic. I am a firm believer to let the body take care of things. Now don't get me wrong, there is always a time for them. But I see way to many Moms run for an antibotic for every little sniffle. And then wonder why they don't work or the little one is always sick. Ok - sorry - off my soap box now. :rolleyes1

Good morning!

Just jump back in. We know you are busy right now. We miss you but in a good way.

Have a great day my friends!

Good luck to A today. I always gag too. Bummer on the stove. I have a flat top also and LOVE it. As far as your lunch goes, it is more than great. It is summer and a lite lunch is always best. Have fun!!

Yesterday was a long day. It took 2 1/2 hours to register and get through the lines, find his locker try opening the locker a few dozen times :confused3I

Today we are going to the zoo and getting some exercise. I don't know why but I am gaining weight.

Have fun at the zoo. After a day like you had yesterday you deserve to have some fun today. Enjoy!!

Dinner last night was awesome. Elizabeth took ground turkey, mixed in onions and jalapenoes and lime juice. She let it sit in the frig for about an hour, then formed them into patties and we grilled them. Oh goodness they were good. We also had corn on the cob, red skin dill potato salad, and cantaloupe. It was wonderful.

Doug and I are headed to the Winery after we get off of work. I love ending a week of work over a glass of wine with my sweetie.

WFDT ~ Crockpot Roast, potatoes, carrots with a green salad. Nothing to exciting but it will fill the hole.

Make it a great day my friends. I hope to have another day or two of my TR up today.

Quick fly by, very busy getting everything together for he "big move" tomorrow. Hugs and prayers to all who need them....I should be back here sometime Sunday or Monday!

:headache: on the stove!

I don't know much about thyroid - does that indicate you need to adjust medication? Or are they just symptoms you can't do anything about?

And yep! I think your planned lunch is a-okay.

Doug and I are headed to the Winery after we get off of work. I love ending a week of work over a glass of wine with my sweetie.

I wish my DH liked wine...

DH left this morning to pick up the pastor's kids and take them to Six Flags. They have season passes (a church member bought them for them when they moved here) but both parents HATE Six Flags. They took them last week and refused to ever go back. Boy were they excited to hear that my DH likes Six Flags and is unemployed so he could take them!

He guesses they will stay until close to closing tonight but is playing it by ear. So, I guess I'll make something that will be okay with leftovers if he doesn't make it back.

I have to work all day tomorrow but I have the day off today

Morning Y'all,
I was supposed to have Alexis today, but her Daddy is now sick & didn't go to work. I got the text from Chris this morning, but now I can't reach either one of them, which is making me crazy! They gave up there home land line about 2 months ago. Of course thier cell phones never work properly!! I know it's probably just thier cell service, but it's making me worry.:headache: I wish I could drive over there. My throat is feeling a lot better, but my sinuses are bad.

I sure wish I had something good to talk about! Oh, how 'bout this. I forgot about F&W event booking early Tues. morning.(due to illness) That is bad, good events book up within a half hour! Well I couldn't get 2 events I wanted, but I was able to get the Signature Dinner at Blue Zoo & Tequila Tasting in Mexico. I'm happy, because we already have so many dinners booked for our meet. Poor Bob is sad over the other two, Italian f&w pairing & French regional lunch. But I'm good!

I hate that she has a cough but I see where the doctors are coming from. A cough is a way for the body to react to something going on. .

Aimee, You're not stepping on my toes! I actually wasn't hoping for more antibiotics for her, she on amoxicillin. I'm actually thinking she may be developing asthma or bronchitis. But the drs will never find out, because they don't feel that she needs to come back in yet. This child is just sick much too often & it's just horrible having to watch her feel miserable all of the time.

I am also a product of too many antibiotics as a child. Way back when I was a kid with asthma, everytime I went in with an asthma attack, I got an antibiotic injection. This was pre-home inhalers, nebulizers, etc. So for every bad attack, I was in the dr's office or hospital. Now I can't seem to get over anything without antibiotics.

I didnt realize that overuse of them could cause Crohn's? Could that be why I have IBS?

I hope your DH has a good time at Six Flags, I can't imagine how hot it must be out there!

Good morning!

Poor A! Those molds are disgusting!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well too. You know that lunch is fine! ;) I'm mad about your stove!

Ooooh that was a lot of penicillin!! Glad they changed that!

2 1/2 hrs! That must have been a major PITA! Have fun at the zoo!

I am gaining weight too. The reason is called, to put it simply, "Louisiana".

 More roast beef po-boys for you! How about a french fry po-boy with gravy to go with that. ;)

I made pizza last night. Here is a picture.

3820482334_8a0d0c679a.jpg

Becky, That pizza looks delicious! You never did tell me if it was hard to do pizza on the grill? Your results were great, but you make everything look easy. Should I attempt it on the grill? Tips please?

Not yet sweetie, but almost. I sure hope she starts feeling better real soon. I hope you don't start the cough. That couldn't be good.

No coughing here for me, so that's good! I'm resting today, well the body is, if I could stop worrying about how my girl is doing. So things are a bit better here.

Those turkey patties sound yummy! Wish I could come to the winery with you!

I'm supposed to be getting shrimp from a neighbor who sells them today. If I get them, will have that for dinner.

Here's another day. Hopefully I will have it done today. Enjoy!

Day 7 – Sunday June 21st
We were up at the ungodly hour of 7:00 a.m. We had decided before we went to bed last night that if we were going to get multiple rides on Toy Store Mania, that we needed to get there early. Now many of you know me, and I can honestly say I have NEVER opened a park up. So this was a BIG deal for us. We turned the TV on and already it was 86 degrees out with a high today of 109 and a Dew point of 89. In other words it was already d**m hot out. We all got ready and when we open the door we were all SHOCKED – it was like a blast furnace. WOW!! It took all the way to the bus for my glasses to unfog. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a bus to Hollywood Studios. We didn’t get there before opening but we were pretty darn close. We all headed right back, with a few 1000 of our closest friends, to Toy Story Midway Mania. Matthew jumped in the FP line and got 4 FP’s. Would you believe they were for 4 different times. That’s how fast the time changes. We got right in line and waited about 20 minutes. Great ride and I almost beat Doug – not quite - but I was close. Actually Ali beat us all. When we got off there was a 50 minute wait but it didn’t look to be that long so we got right back in line and we were on in about 30. Matthew beat this time and I wasn’t even close. Our FP’s weren’t for another hour so we decided to go ride Rock’n Roller Coaster. Doug did this ride once and that was enough for him so he held the wall up. The kids & I were off, I went in the single rider line and the kids went stand by. I got off about 15 minutes before the kids and we both had great rides. We met up with Doug and he said he wanted to ride Tower of Terror with us. WHAT?! Really!! WooHoo!!! He never rides this with us, so we didn’t wait to see if he was going to chicken out – we were in that line in 2.2 seconds. OMGosh we had a ball. Doug was a bit white when we got off but did say it was a good ride. It was so much fun having him with us.
It was now noon so we went over to check in at Sci-Fi Dine-in Theatre. I go up to the desk – there were people everywhere and gave my name to the lady and she yelled at me. “It is only 11:55 you need to check back in at 12:00”. Uh, ok thank you. Doug went outside and I went into the Writers Stop next door. I bought a new CD and 2 more wine stoppers. I had them sent back to the room. It was now about 12:10 so I went to check in again. She took my name and told me to go stand against the wall. We did and not 30 seconds later a waiter who just happened to be right next to us yelled (there were a LOT of people waiting) C U N N I N G H A M Party right in Doug’s ear. He jumped a foot. When the waiter saw how he had scared Doug we all got a good laugh. It was very funny. We got sat and waited a very long time for our waiter. Finally got our drinks and we ordered. He was a real dud. But the food was great and we all really enjoyed our time there. Ali was just giddy with how this was set up. It is sort of neat really. We all had the good Malts and burgers. Good times.
We went to TSMM to use our FP’s, but not before we got 4 more with a return time of 5:15. We sailed through the FP line and we’re on in about 15 minutes. Doug won this time, so now it was GAME ON!! When we got off the line said 50 minutes so we got right back in line. We played 20 questions in line and that made the time sail by. We got on in about 45 minutes, so the time was real close to correct. Doug won again and Matthew was not a happy camper and wanted to go again but I really wanted to go try something else, so we decided to wait to settle this at 5:15. LOL
We went over and rode the Great Movie Ride. We got the Gangster side and our CM’s were great. Sometimes you get a real dud, and it really makes a big difference when you get a good one that plays along.
It was so hot out and with our early morning we were all fading really fast so we decided to go back to the room for awhile. We stopped at Sid Cahuenga’s One-of-a-kind shop and dreamt of what we would buy if money was no problem. Doug and Matthew found a putter of Arnold Palmers – it was only $1000.00, I would have bought the jacket Dick Van **** wore in Mary Poppins. We also saw many signed Cells that would be neat to have. What a great way to spend a ½ hour.
Bus was there when we walked out and we were back in our room very fast. We all rested, watched the Open and some took naps – Doug! I took a nice cool shower and then went down to Everything Pop. One of our Pastors is a real Disney fanatic and had been there last month. He had bought a fanny pack and it had broke. He asked us if we could return it for another one. I had looked all week for the same one but never found it. There was one in the gift shop that was close so I needed to get this taken care of. No problem, they gave me a new one with no questions asked. Cool!! I picked out a few things to get later. Pretty soon here came Doug, then not 10 minutes later here came Ali & Matthew. We decided to just get dinner in the Food Court. I got the Salmon Dinner, Doug got the Buttermilk Chicken dinner, Matthew got 2 Bacon Cheeseburgers and Ali got Loaded Nachos. Yum, for Food Court food, Pop does it right. We never got a bad meal here the whole time. We went back to the room and dropped the mugs off and left for DHS.
We walked in and the park was beautiful tonight. The lights were on and the Hat was lit up so pretty. We took some great pictures of us in front of the Hat and they turned out really good. As we were walking back to TSMM we about ran smack dab into Amy and her family. I was able to introduce my family to them and we talked for a bit. They were on their way back to Pop. We continued on to TSMM to use our FP’s we had gotten earlier in the day. Another great ride. But . . .Ali won this time. LOL the boys wanted to try again but the line was 190 minutes and even us diehard TSMM fans will NOT stand in that line. So it was to be that Ali’s win stood. We went to ride RRC in the single riders line. We all got in the same car just not together. We lit the roadway up and before we knew it we were at the concert. WooHoo!! When we got off we tried to hightail it over to ToT but it was a couple of minutes after 9 and we were too late. DHS was closed.
We weren’t ready to call it a night yet, so we went out to the bus stop and got on a bus to the Contemporary. We walked over to the MK. We got there just in time to see Wishes. We were right up past Casey’s in the hub, my favorite place to view Wishes from. We went into Tomorrowland and stopped at the Launching Pad for some pretzels and bottles of water. It was still very hot, even at 10:30. We went for a ride on Buzz and Matthew won, with Doug a real close second, so all was almost ok again with the world. LOL
As we were leaving Matthew found 2 FPs for Splash Mountain, so we went right over. They rode and Doug and I sat on a bench and people watched. This is one of our favorite things to do in Disney. When they got off they were drenched, but giggling. I wanted to do the Jungle Cruise, as I have never done this at night so off we go. It was a great ride with a really funny skipper. That makes the ride so much better if you get someone who plays along, even if all of the jokes are corney.
From there we walked by Pirates and decided on a ride, as it was a total walk on. I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time ever walking past this ride. I just gotta ride it, especially if it’s a walk on. Next we went for Dole Whips. Matthew and Ali had floats and Doug and I had dishes. We just sat and watched the people. It was a beautiful night out and we were all just loving being together in our Happy Place. A very nice way to end a fun day.
We headed out of the park and walked the golden mile to the bus stop. Got on fairly fast and we were back to the room by midnight. Lights out at 12:30.

Laura, I have a nebulizer for my asthma, what kind of saline solution to you use for Caili?

It is the saline used if the albuterol prescription is not pre-mixed. The pediatrician just gave me a handful of vials, but you could ask your pharmacist and see if you can get some.

I'm honestly pretty anti-antibiotics

I didn't know antibiotics could cause Crohns either.

Lauren -- I hope Andrew made out okay. I remember getting that done and it was gross.

Janice -- I'm sorry registration took so long. What a pain. I hope you enjoyed the zoo!

Ellen -- The winery sounds like a great way to end the week. Have fun.

Kathy -- Good luck this weekend. Best wishes to Kyle!

Boy were they excited to hear that my DH likes Six Flags and is unemployed so he could take them!

What a nice guy!

This child is just sick much too often & it's just horrible having to watch her feel miserable all of the time.

Is it possible that she has allergies? Liam was always sick all the time until we had him tested for them. Now, he takes allergy medicine every day, but he isn't getting pneumonia and ear infections all the time. I haven't had Caili tested, although I am going to mention it when she has her well-visit next month, but she takes Claritin because otherwise she gets congested and develops pneumonia or ear infections.

I'm heading to the fish market, so we'll see what they have.

WARNING! Whining post ahead! I apologize in advance for always asking for prayers, support & just being an overall downer! If you're tired of it, just feel free to skip this post, I really understand!

Bob just called, our aide has been complaining about knee pain. She went to the ortho today & she is having surgery on Monday!!!! :sad1: The other girl stopped work a week ago, her baby is due. So we have no backup. I don't go back to the dr until the 15th. I have moved him when we had no shows, the 1st time hurt, the other morning was fine, but I was very careful. Trying to get him & Alexis out the door in the morning, is not going to allow me time to be careful. I'm sorry again for whining, but I am literally in tears.

 on the F&WF events. Do people ever cancel?

There are lots of theories out there about Crohns and what causes it. We know it's autoimmune, and antibiotics often suppress the natural immune system in attempt to kill something going on. We also know it can cause an abundance of yeast, which has been linked to Crohns (in the digestive system). When I was diagnosed, I was going on 2 YEARS of non-stop use of Flagyl for a pilonidal cyst. One theory says that the constant antibiotic use could have thrown my immune system out of whack and played a role in the Crohns developing. But, it's just a theory. I take them when I have to - like if I can't get an infection cleared up on my own. My preference is to boost my own immune system instead of suppressing it through an antibiotic but since I'm on immune suppressants, that doesn't always work.

I also hate that we keep getting these superbugs that antibiotics can't touch because too many docs are handing antibiotics out like candy but that's a rant for another day.

Oh, I hope Alexis doesn't develop asthma. I was dx when I was 7 and it really did affect my childhood. Now, that was when it was much less common and there weren't as good of medication out there. Now, it's just an ailment I take meds for each day but it doesn't interfere with my life anymore. Thank goodness :goodvibes

Here's another day. Hopefully I will have it done today. Enjoy!

Wow! Y'all are the TSM champions! :worship: I wish I had had the patience to ride it that many times in a day!

:headache: Do you have a church family that might be able to help out some? Bob may not feel comfortable with a friend helping with some of his needs but they might be able to do other things for you.

I made pad thai for lunch so I'm just going to eat leftovers of that for dinner. DH is eating out with the kiddos.

For your weekend reading enjoyment. :rotfl2: I finished it!!

Day 8 – Monday June 22nd
We were up around 9:00. Doug and I went for coffee and milk and when we were finished we went to the front desk to ask for a late check out. We left the room around 10:00 for Epcot. We cut through the Lobby again and again I tripped in the exact same spot. What in the heck is there that I trip on every time? All I know is it gave my family a chuckle each and every time I did it. An Epcot bus pulled up as we headed out. We went right for Soarin’ to get FP’s (3:15) and got in line for Living With the Land. This is a ride we enjoy but don’t have to do it over and over. Once a trip is good enough for us. We took a quick bathroom break and headed for Test Track. We got in the single rider line and pretty much walked on and through the pre show and in line. We all were in different cars but right behind each other. We were able to find the hidden Mickey at the end of the ride in the lockers. It is on the far right as you look in. Take a moment to go see it. This is truly what makes Disney so much better than other Parks. It’s all in the little details. Walt had to be giggling at that one.
I had a few things I had seen earlier that I wanted to get over at Mouse Gears so over we go. But along the way, well ok a bit out of our way, we just had to stop for another favorite drink over at Ice Station Cool. Then we hit Mouse Gears. We got our purchases and decided we were hungry and thought we would try to eat at the Kona Café over at the Poly. So we took the monorail to the TTC and then got on the Resort monorail for a quick ride to the Poly. I know we could have gotten there faster if we just walked but it was so hot out and riding the monorail is as much of a ride to us as Space Mountain. LOL We didn’t have an ADR but they were able to get us in, in about 10 minutes. We had a great lunch. We laughed and talked for almost an hour and a ½. We knew our vacation was winding down and it was as if no one wanted it to end. We went out and took some great pictures. The hostess even came out and took a few of all of us together. How nice. We did some shopping and looked around, as I love the shops there.
I wanted to get an ESPN mug for Marty (our new SIL) and I couldn’t find one anywhere so we knew we could get one over at the Boardwalk so we got on the monorail to MK and walked to the bus for the Boardwalk. We were so hot, as the temp. for today was a very cool 107. Yikes!! After we hiked up to the lobby we just sat for awhile in one of the rooms and cooled off. After we sat for a bit we left the cool lobby and headed for the ESPN club. I got my mug and Matthew wanted a shirt, so with my purchases made we decided to go over to DHS for one last ride on TSMM. We waited for the boat in the shops on the Boardwalk then hustled out when one came up. Doug and I sat out on the back and enjoyed the view of all of the resorts.
We went right back and got right in line and only waited about ½ an hour. Matthew won this time with Ali second and Doug 3rd, I of course was last, yet again. Oh what fun!!
We left and went to the busses. One came within 10 minutes and we were back at Pop real soon.
Matthew and Ali went and dropped the packages off in the room and got the mugs. Doug and I picked up our packages from yesterday and I picked up a few last minute things. We met in the Food Court for a few games of Pitch and some cool drinks. Matthew and Ali are kicking out behinds really bad this trip.
At about 7:30 we took our mugs and cards back to the room and decided to go back to Epcot and use our Soarin’ FP’s. So we headed out and walked on a bus. We went right to Soarin’ and asked if we could be front and center and they said sure, so we had to wait for the next group, but we didn’t care. What a great ride. We just love it and being in the front was awesome. When we got off I looked at my watch and saw that it was 8:57. I asked the troops if they were up for another ride. Yea!! Of course! So we hurried out and right back on. As we went through the entrance the guy pulled the chain and we had just made it. We were going to be the last ones on for the day. Now I know some of you are just thrilled to pieces to be the first on many of the rides, but we are just as excited to be last. We had the ride almost to ourselves. There were only 8 of us total on the ride. SWEET!!!!!
What a wonderful way to end a great vacation. Epcot was now closed so we made our way out of the park. We had to stop for one last time at the lit sidewalk. I played for a bit and then out to the bus. We waited in the bus line for about 20 minutes but soon enough we were back at Pop. We pulled into the driveway and he never stopped, he went back out on the main road and then turned in again and again he didn’t stop. By now the whole bus was saying, “What the heck is this stupid man doing?” The 3rd time in and around he finally stopped at a bus stop and we all got off. There were no other buses there or anything in the way of us stopping. No explanation or sorry or anything. Strange – REALLY STRANGE!!!
I had texted Amy to see if she would like the rest of our water and pop. She was thrilled so we met up so I could give it to her. It was nice to be able to say good bye to another wonderful friend met via the internet. Amy – it was great meeting you and your family. Thanks!
We hadn’t eaten yet so we grabbed our mugs and headed for the Food Court for dinner. After Dinner we decided to play cards again. We played until again, we happened to look around and we’re the only ones in the Food Court. It was 12:30. Good grief we had no idea it was that late. We were having so much fun. Well the kids were, because they were woomping Doug and I. So a slow walk back to the room as it had turned out to be a lovely night. We all knew that this time tomorrow we would be back in Nebraska and the vacation would be just a memory. Back at the room we had a bad case of the giggles watching Ali trying to get all of her stuff in her suitcase. Oh my!! Lights out at 1 am.

Day 9 – Tuesday June 23rd
We were all up by 9am. We took our showers and Doug went for Coffee and milk. The maid came knocking on our door around 10 and I said we were checking out today and had asked for a late check out and we would be out by 12 and she said. “You can stay as long as you want, don’t hurry. If you want to stay till 1 that is ok”. Wow, I thought that was nice. Our bill was on our door. Doug looked through it and all was ok. We got all packed up and finally left our room for the last time at noon. We went down and checked our luggage in then went to the food court for lunch and 1 more game of Pitch. I just hate that feeling of the last few hours in Disney. You know you have to leave, you are ready to leave, but oh how you don’t want the wonderful vacation to be over. But finally it was.
We got everything ready and headed outside to the curb to wait for Magical Express to pick us up at 1:45. They were right on time and we went through those beautiful purple gates going the wrong way – boohoo - and at the airport before we knew it. Through security, and at our gate with about 1½ hour to spare. The kids went and got us all Starbucks coffees and we just sat and talked until we boarded. We had a smooth flight to Memphis with 45 minutes to get to our gate. We had another very smooth flight to Omaha and got in around 9pm. Doug went and got the car and we loaded up. We stayed the night in Omaha and drove home on Wednesday. Got into Lexington around 4 pm, we dropped the bags at home and went directly to Elizabeth and Jay’s as today was Ethan’s 5th birthday and they were having a BIG backyard BBQ and party. What a fun way to end a very wonderful vacation. Until next time.

Thanks for reading.

Sheryl--Please stop apologizing! I wish I could hop in my car and drive down and help ya'll out, if only for the weekend. Hugs to you! Glad to hear that you were able to get some fun events for F&W. I can't wait for the trip. Just over 2 months!

Aimee--totally agree on the antibiotic issue. Hope your DH has fun at Six Flags. The one in Arlington? It was so hot the day we were there this summer!

Kathy--Good luck with the move-in this weekend! We'll be thinking of you.

Lauren--hope you can get some help soon for the stove. PD for your thyroid issues too!

We spent a nice day at the pool today. Probably Emma's last of the year before school starts. Luckily, our gym keeps the pool open long into Sept. so we'll be able use it on the weekends. Now need to get ready for our weekly friday dinner out. Not sure where, but at least I'm not cooking!

Sheryl -- Like Stephanie said, please don't apologize. You have so many things to deal with right now, and this is an awful time to get one more. Can the agency send someone else?

Ellen -- Thank you for the great trip report. It was fun to read...I laughed a lot at your TSMM battle. You are a dedicated group!

Today was fun. My dad and I took the kids to a local farm and then we went to one of my favorite childhood ice cream shops. We really lucked out because they had their seasonal blueberry flavor and fresh peach flavor. I had the blueberry. Dad got some peach to take home. I took home black raspberry...they have the best black raspberry. When we got home, I started putting Liam's new desk together. It is an easy assembly (four pieces), but I can't seem to line up the desktop with the storage drawers correctly. Lugging the pieces up the stairs was a chore, so I've given up for the day. I also decided I wasn't in the mood to cook, so I got fried clams.

 on the F&WF events. Do people ever cancel?

There are lots of theories out there about Crohns and what causes it. We know it's autoimmune, and antibiotics often suppress the natural immune system in attempt to kill something going on.

:headache: Do you have a church family that might be able to help out some? Bob may not feel comfortable with a friend helping with some of his needs but they might be able to do other things for you.

I made pad thai for lunch so I'm just going to eat leftovers of that for dinner. DH is eating out with the kiddos.

Aimee, For F&W events, you have to pay for them up front on a cc. There is a no cancellation policy.

I would imagine that 2 years of antibiotics could really tear up your system.

Yeah I hope she doesn't have asthma, but treatment has come a long, long way since I was a child! But, I would like to get to the bottom of some of her almost constant illness.

Aimee, I have to admit we have not been very involved in our church service community the last few years. We go to church, but being Catholic unless you get involved service groups where you have friends to call on, there isn't any church organization we could call on for help. That's our fault, but with our own heath problems, commitment to service is hard. :guilty:

Stephanie & Laura, Thanks for listening to me moan! DH called the agency, they are checking into it. He hasn't decided if he wants to call another agency or just try to work it out with family help. He's pretty upset about it all too.

Quick fly by for now

Sheryl- I hope that you are not feeling that you need to honor that contract you signed. The agency has not kept their commitment. I would call the woman who is having the baby, ask her to recommend someone that she knows and trusts and hire that person.

Lauren- More hugs! I hope you get some relief soon!

Dinner last night was leftover American Chop suey for me, tuna sandwiches for Buddy.

Lunch today was a big salad with chicken for Marisa and me, Buddy and Kady went to the snack shack for hot dogs and fries. Buddy just had a sandwich, I am doing laundry so I will eat something after I shower.

I have a huge OT vent. This is a little state beach we went to. There is a changing room with an open shower room and rest rooms on the other side. There are no family rooms, the showers are just to rinse sand off. What would possess grown women to strip to the buff in an open room that is between the bathrooms and the changing rooms????????????? I am not offended by nudity in a women's gym room although I am not stripping down and parking my shiny self down on the benches while I wipe my tootsies. I am :scared1::eek::scared: by women scrubbing the sand off their hoo hoos while Mother's are quick hiding their little boys eyes becasue whpo on Earth would have expected to see a show? And do not get me started on teh mother who pulled her little one's suit off and had it pee in the sand on the beach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BBL We are going again tomorrow so I need to get all the sand out of everything. I did nto feel the need to scrub it all out in the wide open all the while scaring all the kids trying to get the sand out of their shorts and scarring them for life!

OMG Nancy! :scared:

Just jump back in. We know you are busy right now. We miss you but in a good way.

Awww, thanks! :goodvibes I had read most of everything (I think) and wanted to comment but every time I started a multi-quote, I'd fall asleep before I finished and it never got posted. I wanted to comment on all the issues people were having, and also thank people for the sweet comments they said to me earlier this week. :grouphug:

Morning Y'all,
I was supposed to have Alexis today, but her Daddy is now sick & didn't go to work. I got the text from Chris this morning, but now I can't reach either one of them, which is making me crazy! They gave up there home land line about 2 months ago. Of course thier cell phones never work properly!! I know it's probably just thier cell service, but it's making me worry.:headache: I wish I could drive over there. My throat is feeling a lot better, but my sinuses are bad.

I'm actually thinking she may be developing asthma or bronchitis. But the drs will never find out, because they don't feel that she needs to come back in yet. This child is just sick much too often & it's just horrible having to watch her feel miserable all of the time.

 More roast beef po-boys for you! How about a french fry po-boy with gravy to go with that. ;)

I have a lot to say about this post of yours. :rolleyes1
1) That word "y'all" is beginning to encroach on my vocabulary.

2) My cell phone service has been utterly HORRENDOUS this week. I have T-Mobile and when I go to work I have service - until I get to Plaquemines, then all bets are off. Today going home, I had no service until I had been in Sam's Club (on Manhattan) for an HOUR...I left work about 3 and didn't get service until 4. :headache: I am going to call T-Mobile because this is insane. The other day I thought maybe their tower had been hit by lightening or something, but today the cell phone rep in Sam's said there were no reports of service trouble; their website says coverage in Plaquemines is full bars available. :confused3

3) As for Alexis - I agree that she is probably developing allergies. Does her house have any mold or mildew in it? It didn't take a lot of it to get me sick a lot in NYC - and coughing was very much an issue - I have asthma though too.

4) :rotfl: on the food. The other half of my po boy from lunch last week mysteriously disappeared while I was out wherever I had gone (I can't remember? :confused3) last Friday. :rolleyes1

Just wanted to stop in and ask for good thoughts and prayers for my boy. He & Mariah are having issues, big ones. I'm praying he comes out of this with his heart unbroken, but it's not looking promising. This is the last thing he needs while starting his new life.:sad1:
