Blah Luck..Why So Long to Book w/ Discount w/o Any Rooms??

I just saw the room discount on the website (I understand it has been up for a little bit, but we are already booked at POP, so I hadn't checked back for anything); I got really excited to try for a 2-bedroom villa at AKL. This is DM's dream resort, and this whole trip is about her (2 times breast cancer free!! ).

But, it shows no availability for our dates already (Dec 3-9); why are the booking dates until the end of September if the availability is so limited? If the economy is that bad and people aren't going, how on earth did a 2-bedroom villa get sold out so quickly even with a room discount?

I know...i was playing with the reservations page and ran numbers on a CBR room to upgrade from POP and it showed avaliability. Called to change ressie and the CM said NOTHING in ANY moderate was avaliable...

My theory is that those that normally book 2 bedroom villas probably arne't getting 'hit' as bad in this economy. Just a guess but i'd say that could be a factor. Keep trying though, call the ressie number you never know what might be open. Also try w/out the discount the rooms may be open but just not any w/ discount. If other discounts open up later you could always have that applied to your room ressie.

i was told that for the various promos, availability is limited and not all resorts or categories within are included in any given offer.

just because a particular room doesn't show during a promo search, doesn't mean it won't come up via a rack rate one, kwim? If already heavily booked, no need to discount it. the 1st week of Dec is a very popular time w/DVC members too, although im not sure of the % of inventory that Disney holds @ AKL

1. Theres only a handful of 2BR villas
2. Only a percentage of those are offered WITH the discount.
3. DVC members have booked most of those before theyre even available to the public
4. People that book 2BR villas arent concerned with the economy

I understand all of that; I'm simply stating my luck stinks. I checked most of the deluxe resorts and villas, and availability is already pretty limited on all of them. That's the cruddy part.

I'm not rolling in cash, but if I had gotten a great deal like that on a 2-bedroom, I would have snatched it up because this is such an important trip for our family. Memories last forever, and we're not charging anything for this trip, so I would've booked it with the deal.

It's aggravating; I tried mods too and got nothing. I think the availability is very, very limited. Good luck to you if you keep trying, though! I'm going to try, although now the deal won't even pull up on the Specials page on the WDW website for me? All it has is FD.

I was able to get the 40% discount with the bounceback offer earlier this year. I booked a 2 BR villa at OKW. Keep trying. Hope you get yours too!

The room discount; no other ones out there, unfortunately! We have FD, but would much rather stay at a villa if they release a deal!

As a PP indicated getting a villa for cash has some disadvantages:

There are only so many rooms allotted for cash reservations.
The first 2 weeks of December are also VERY busy for DVC members.

Have you considered seeing if someone would rent you the points for your stay? Try the DVC Rent/Trade Boards--you never know, and I'll guarantee it will be cheaper than paying cash at any discounted rate.
