Hello, all you trip report readers out there! Thanks for joining us on our trip filled with fun, family and food! Who are the "whos", you ask?

Here I am, Whogirl'smom, with Whogirl, on the first leg of our flight.

I am Jamie, 41, the trip planner, Disney fanatic and picture taker of this trip. Olivia is 8, going into the 3rd grade, and still adores all things Disney!

And here is Whogirl'sdad.

DH is Jim, 43, the hardworking wonderful husband/father, who makes all these trips possible. He has become a Disney-lover, almost as much as dd and I are. This was dd's first trip to Disneyland and our first in 10 years. My, how things have changed!

We are visiting my Aunt S. during this 10 day trip and will be seeing lots of interesting sights in SoCal, along with DL. So, buckle up, our flight is almost ready to take off!

We began our trip in East Tennessee, at our tiny little airport that only had one gate open on the morning of July 23rd, at the crack of way-too-early. (5:30 a.m.) We had an easy, quick flight to Atlanta, where we switched to our flight to Phoenix (hence to be known as the bowels of hell). Why this nickname, you ask? Well, it wasn't due to the heat, but we'll get to that soon enough.

Would you like to see how crazy we were to only do carry-on luggage?

In the meantime, a snack to tide you over till the next episode:

Todd English fruit and cheese plate: smoked gouda, Havarti and Sage infused Derby paired with grapes, pecans, dried apricots and crackers. Loved the Havarti with the dried apricots. We had to get two of these.

Thanks for reading and I'll try to do updates at least 3 times a week!

Thanks for the breadcrumbs, Whomom! And where did that plastic container of cheesy goodness come from? Did you buy that at the airport? If so am I jealous ... the Stinktown International Airport doesn't sell anything like that as far as I know.

I followed the link over from the Friendies thread. I haven't been to DL since 1988....I'm looking forward to your TR!

I'm in too! Haven't been to DL since 2003, so I am looking forward to revisiting it through your trip report!

:wave2: Hi, Jamie! Count me in. :teeth:

Hey, Elin! You got to be first!

Joining in--can't wait to read more!

Welcome! Thanks for reading!

My bad--I should have provided that info :cutie:. Todd English has evidently paired with Delta Airlines to offer this yummy little tray for only $6! The sage cheese was soooo good, even by itself. Our home airport didn't have anything open other than the vending machines and coffee machines that our business has out there! :rotfl2:

So glad you're here!

Hope I'm not late :goodvibes

Never late--it's taking me a while to figure out this TR stuff. Glad to have another friendie!

I'm in too! Haven't been to DL since 2003, so I am looking forward to revisiting it through your trip report!

Hi, Heather! Welcome aboard!

Another friendie signing on!popcorn::

Glad you're here, Kathy!

Followed you over from Nebo's TR. This will be cool I have never read a Disneyland TR. Can't wait for more:goodvibes

Wow, the pimping works! (That sounds so wrong, doesn't it?) :rotfl:

I'm ready to read about DL from a non-local:cool1:.

I'm not nearly as witty as you and Brenda, but hopefully I can keep us all entertained! Glad you're here!

COOL! I am so in!

Yay, Chelsi's here too!

I'm in! So... where's my special Sunny D? :rotfl2:

I'm going to Sam's Club tomorrow for a case of them to doctor up. ;)

Me Too !!
Can you mail that Sunny D ????

Coming right up!

I'm here! :)

:yay: More friendies!

OK, Jamie - Is that enough interest for you to do this?? ;)

I'm in too Jamie. :goodvibes I've never been to DL so really looking forward to your report.

Your Todd English cheese and goodies tray has me drooling already . :cool1:

Into the Bowels

"We'll be touching down in Phoenix in approximately 20 minutes, where the temperature is 102 degrees." This from our captain as I looked at dh with my mouth agape. 102 at 10 o'clock in the morning?!? Ok, no big deal, we'll be in an air conditioned airport, right? Yeeaaahh, but not for long. You could feel the heat seeping through our little tunnel leading to the hopefully arctic temperatures indoors. And remember that picture of all those carry-ons? Yeah, we were lugging all of those in the 102 degrees as we had to EXIT the airport, get on a bus to get to another terminal, and go through security AGAIN before getting to our US Air flight to Burbank. Here are two lessons, dear reader. :teacher: First, don't carry on everything if you have to change planes, especially not twice. Second, pay the extra 30 bucks per ticket to stay on Delta all the way so you can stay in the same terminal. :sad2:

We finally get to our gate, no rush, we have 3 hours. And we're in the terminal with only a few shops and fast food kiosks, not the one that's like a mall. So, we feed the whogirl and dh at Burger King and I find a Wolfgang Puck kiosk for a salad.

This killed a whopper of 45 minutes or so.

:bored:

:dance3:

 This is whogirl after a pack of Skittles.

Hmmm, this sure is going to be a small flight. Dh had become chatty with a grandma that had her granddaughter with her; there was one other guy and then us. An hour later, it's still the six of us. You see where this is going, don't you? Thirty more minutes and the grandma comes running up to us saying that they changed the freaking gate and the flight leaves in 15 minutes!!!

What???

We heard all kinds of announcements for gate changes for other airlines, but did US Air decide to alert its passengers to any changes? No. Great, I book a flight with a big layover just so we'll have plenty of time and now this. We grab 500 pounds of luggage (it evidently had lunch, too) and jog down 10 GATES, where we are the last 5 people on the plane--remember the grandma is still with us. DH gave them an earful in the 10 seconds we had, and that was totally useless. There were several empty seats on the plane and several people that missed this flight. GRRR. No more Phoenix and no more switching airlines.

Now, let's leave this fiasco behind with a sweet picture of my dd looking over the barren Arizona desert. Thanks to Great Biscuit and the picture of his cute daughter for the inspiration.

Hey, Olivia, how do you feel about running through the airport like your pants were on fire??

Me, too, baby. Me, too!

Hi, I jumped over from GB's thread, I'm in for the ride. Looking forward to this, especially since I will be taking my first ever DL trip (hopefully) this year after working for WDW for 37 years. :yay:
