So after forcing the Dark Side into retreat, I asked the kids what they wanted to do next. Their answer: The Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground! Are you kidding? Its a zillion degrees outside and you want to go run around a playground?
Of course they totally do.
So we head over there, but I make them promise they will leave after 15 minutes. It is just too hot for these outdoor recreational activities. I have no pictures of this 15 minutes (probably because at the time I wished we were somewhere else)
, but the kids loved their 15 minutes and squeezed every second they could out of them. As we walked out of the playground, the Power Rangers were just finishing up their meet n greet. I surveyed the scene and realized the yellow line was shortest and probably the only one we had a chance of meeting. The only snafu: Yellow Ranger is a girl. And we all know how Michael reacts to girls.
I did some fancy talking about how the boys were in yellow and matched the toughest power ranger. That better be the one we meet. The boys fell for my ploy and I dont think Michael even noticed her gender (the mask probably helped with that).
Here are the shots
It was getting close to 11:00. Wendy and I had big plans to go to American Idol so we headed off to catch the show. The boys had big plans to get in the 11:30 Indiana Jones show. I told them to mozy on over there and if they got there by around 11:10 they should be just fine. This was bad advice, but they trust me so they took it.
Here are some pictures they took during their mozying.
They arrived at Indiana Jones just when I told them to and it was standing room only.
They didnt feel like standing for 50 minutes so they headed over to Star Tours. They hopped in line, but it was way too long. They decided to just get fastpasses for later and then they came over to the American Idol exit to wait for Wendy and I.
Meanwhile, Wendy and I were sitting in the nice air conditioned theater enjoying the show.
We both really liked the show. It was really similar to the TV show. Even the judges were eerily similar. I was impressed by the three contestants as well. The first wasnt the greatest singer ever, but she had lots of energy and was fun to watch. She was also a great sport when Simon insulted her. Contestant #2 was great. She was young, beautiful and obviously had some musical theater training. She did a great job.
Contestant #3 was the surprise. He was a 14 year old kid that frankly looked a little dorky. Then he opened his mouth and we were all awed. (kind of like Susan Boyle). Anyway, the 14 year old boy ended up winning. I felt a bit bad for Contestant #2 because Id guess she would have won in most shows. Anyway, both Wendy and I enjoyed it and Id go to it again sometime. If youre an Idol fan I definitely recommend it. If youre not an Idol fan, its air conditioned and sometimes that is enough.
We came out of the theater and found the boys. It was lunchtime and we had an ADR. Any guesses on where we ate?
