Hotel NY - best rooms for 2 toddlers..

Hi everyone...

Just wondering whether anyone had an idea about what floors / position of rooms would be worth requesting for the Hotel NY. We have an almost 3 yr old dd and ds who turns 4 when we're there in Sept. Is it a very large hotel? - i'm sure i've read somewhere that in some hotels you can be miles from restaurant / lifts etc so i'm asking for your help. Is it best to be near a lift or would that be too noisy with young children trying to sleep? What floor is best etc???

Any tips for this hotel would be really helpful and how would i request a particular room - email, phone etc

its not as large as the others (except maybe bigger than the Disneyland hotel?), even so, we werent near the lift and had to walk down a corridor which wasnt as long as the ones at the sequioa or newport bay.. however, you know how it is with kids.. i would be choosing to stay near the lift with young kiddies..but thats my humble opinion.. when i was there in october it was very busy (being halloween) but it wasnt noisy at all.

If you'll be using the pool a lot, i'd recommend asking for a ground floor room, in the Gramercy Park area of the hotel.

We had ground floor rooms on our last visit, which were seconds from the entrance to the leisure area/pool. It was fantastic. We just wrapped up in towels (which are free at the pool of NY) and went back to the room to get showered and changed. The changing areas are not big, and with 2 lo's I think it would be a nightmare.

Our rooms also gave us patio doors that opened onto a small grassy area, which was quite nice.

Remember if you're too near the lifts, you'll hear everyone else walking past your room. I'm guessing your lo's will be in pushchairs? My youngest used to jump out of his buggy to play hopscotch on the carpet designs!

Julie were there any negatives to being on the ground floor in the area you recommended? I must admit i've never been on the ground floor of a hotel ever!

I honestly can't think of anything really. I'd never been on a ground floor either. I can only think of positives - no hanging about waiting on a lift, the kids found another route to the room and used to race us, we could open the patio door for some air, were right beside the leisure area.

If i'm being really picky, and I mean REALLY picky, the ice machines were on level 2 and 4 i think. But then again if you were on the 1st floor, you'd still need to go up a floor for ice. We did go to the bar on occassion for ice instead.

Sorry, I'm probably not the best person to ask for negatives about HNY - I just love it!
