Hi all. I'm in charge of brining in something for breakfast on Thursday morning for my co-workers. I'll be baking for 15 ... and don't want to spend a fortune. It'll need to be something that can sit out so people can have access to it throughout the morning... so I'm thinking a coffee cake, muffins, cinnamon rolls (not sure if these would keep well?)... baked goods like that.

I'm good at baking, but we don't eat this stuff at my house (we're overly healthy eaters... you know, the vegetarian organic hippie people :hippie:), so I need suggestions on an inexpensive recipe, box mix, etc. that will feed an army...

Any suggestions would be GREAT!!!!!! :littleangel:

Is really good. I have not found anyone that does not like it. It is not healthy, but good. It has butter, cinnamon and brown sugar. You can buy it frozen at the grocery store. Ours is near the frozen breads or you can make it at home. If you go to cooks.com, there are several easy recipes. Everytime I take it to work, it is gone within minutes.

I always make a breakfast strata for our office. I set my timer on my over and I wake up and its done. Its still hot by the time I get to work, everyone loves them. I have made French toast strata and and egg/sausasge/ pepper strata.

Do you think Pillsbury cinnamon buns/twists would be a good idea??

How about a loaf of homemade/bakery whole wheat bread and good jams and butter?
and a fruit salad. All these are healthy options and can
stay out for awhile. Not terribly expensive.

There is no reason to spend a fortune and cook unhealthy foods that you don't eat. I like the suggestion of breads (english muffins, bagels, etc.) with a jar of jam and butter. You can also cut up a few oranges to balance it out. What do most other people bring on their breakfast day? I would take my cue from that.

My dh is in a rotation at work to bring in breakfast on Thursday mornings. When it is his turn, I make muffins. I just go to the grocery store and buy 2 boxes of muffin mix. It costs alittle less than $5.00, if they are not on sale. Then he will take in 24 muffins. They are always eaten, and it beats spending $14+ on donuts!!!

What about a crockpot full of oatmeal? You could bring brown sugar, nuts and dried fruit for a toppings bar. I'd also probably make a tray of cut fruit.

This is a good idea. You could also get the little boxes of Jiffy muffin mix if you want more variety; I think each box makes 6 muffins, so you could get a few different types. I know I've seen corn, blueberry, & chocolate chip. My store often has these on sale 2/$1.

Yeah that's true. I'm thinking at this point muffins and a coffee cake, with cantelope and juice.

We don't typically have breakfast in the office that often, and when we do, everyone brings something. (not this time) I'm just doing this because I'm the lucky one in charge of our VP's birthday! :headache:

AWESOME!!! THAT'S A GOOD IDEA!!! I was thinking muffins, but I didn't know I could do a variety!!!! (can you tell I don't make muffins very often :rotfl: )

If you have a microwave, this heats easily and yummily there and is easy and cheap to make (it's my go to for guests):

Ham and Cheese Souffle

16 slices white sandwich bread, crustless and cubed
1 lb. cubed ham
1 lb. grated sharp cheddar
1 1/2 c. grated swiss (I've also used american or just more cheddar instead)
6 eggs
1/2 tsp. onion salt
3 c. milk
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
3 c. crushed corn flakes
1/2 c. melted butter

Grease a 9x13 glass baking dish. Spread 1/2 bread cubes on bottom. Add ham and both cheeses. Cover with remaining cubes of bread. Mix eggs, milk, onion salt and mustard together and pour evenly over dish. Cover with Saran Wrap and refrigerate overnight. Next day, melt butter and mix in crushed corn flakes. Spread over top of dish and bake at 375 for 40 minutes.

my mom's office does this.

She does bisquits and gravy.

Sausage gravy is pretty economical and can sit in a crockpot.

Buy the premade frozen bisquits, they cook up really easy the morning of and you can put them in ziplocks or tupperware once they cool off. (doens't matter if they get cold the gravy will be warm).
