Is this a place more for couples and families or can a single diner eat there and feel ok about it?

Thanks.

No reason a single diner can't eat there. It does have a slightly romantic atmosphere being by the water but there will be plenty of children which detracts from the romance somewhat anyway!

It depends on whether you are happy dining alone or not, if so, it would be fine. I will say though, although the atmosphere is stunning, the meals and service are not.

I would recommend either Walt's, the Silver Spur, The steakhouse in the Village or the California Grill in the Disneyland Hotel if you are looking for something special.

Presumably OP will be dining alone wherever he dines!
I agree though that the food and service have not been good on our last two visits which is why we won't be returning.

We've always had both superb food and service, thankfully, and it's by far our favourite restaurant on the resort.

I you can ask for a table nearest the water then that would be perfect for dining alone as you'll be able to watch the boats from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride go by.

Really Steve? After 7 attempts over 15 years, we have never had a good meal there. Plus we once saw rats running across the floor (the cast member just shrugged their shoulders). Have you been to the others, or is our luck that bad?

Guess it comes down to personal preference, but the quality of the food at this restaurant is one of my biggest DLP disappointments :sad2:

We've always had great experiences there Dave - probably been 7 or 8 times ourselves, on our own and with others too - always great, without fail.

Been to Walt's from those that you mentioned - never fancied the Steakhouse (don't eat red meat so never fancied much on the menu). Inventions I'd say is up there for quality of food and the character experience is great there, but we adore the theming of the Blue Lagoon and it being attached to our favourite ride is a major plus point too.

I hope we continue to be lucky with The Blue Lagoon! Funny how different people can have totally diferent experiences: I read a lot of good reports for Planet Hollywood but the 2 times we've been the food was awful and the service was worse, so we won't return. We also had awful food in The Rainforest Cafe, which is a shame as the theming is awesome.

We ate there on Wed (29th July), we requested a table by the lagoon which we got, the service was excellent, the food was beautifully served and tasted delicous, we couldn't fault it.:goodvibes:goodvibes

However it was not terribly busy as the parade was on at the time, so maybe that makes a difference. :confused3

You went to The Blue Lagoon...on my birthday?!! I'm so terribly jealous, but so glad you had a nice time :) I've been lucky enough to celebrate 2 birthdays in The Blue Lagoon - in 2006 my Dad and little brother and sister were with us and I saw a cake being brought out and thought 'ahh, that's nice' - then when they stopped at our table it took a while until I twigged - it was for me!! Lovely chocolate torte too -yumm!

I totally agree, we ate in the Rainforest Cafe on Thurs (30th July), the service was adequate but the food was very disappointing and not cheap. The Blue Lagoon gets my vote.

I've been to the one in Tokyo Disneyland, many years ago, and had the best Lobster Thermidor I've ever tasted.....which probably tells you they were serving a different kind of food to the DLRP one currently.

Lol, they used to Lobster Thermidor and Surf and Turf (filet and lobster) in the Blue Lagoon once upon a time (and even then it was cold with surely cast members).

I love the Blue Bayou in California, and I really want to love the Blue Lagoon - that is why we keep trying. I won't even go into my wife's allergic reaction when we informed the server my wife was allergic to shellfish (both in french and English) and they brought out a white fish dish with a shellfish sauce after assuring us they did not use shellfish in the prep of her order.

We ate in the Blur Bayou in Tokyo too - my biggest memory is a discussion with my Mum as to whether ' the 'sky' was real - she was sure it was!

I don't have a problem eating alone. I went to WDW last year alone for a weekend to meet friends and some of my meals were alone. I just want to eat here because I always wanted to eat at Blue bayou. :lmao:
Thanks for the input.

yeah but want to try that one. And the BBQ counter service.

Can I ask when I make a reservation?

Thank you.
We hadn't made ressies, we just walked up and asked.

But if you are making a ressie I would ask then, if they say yes I would mention it again when you arrive, and if they say no I would ask again when you arrive!! Have fun!

This restaurant is top of my list to dine at when i go in dec, ive also been reading reviews etc of they other restaurants....silver spur and is it cowboy cookout (i love BBQ'd food) of course i would love to go inventions aswell. seems very nice there.

When i went last sept, me and my friend went to rain forest cafe, my friend is a vegetarian so she noticed that the fish dish was classed as a veg meal. so this put her off, she was worried incase something in her dish wasnt vegetarian (she is a fussy eater) was quite dissapointed that i didnt get to try their food maybe will next time i go. The theme is fantastic! from what i could see for the 5 mins we were sat down:sad2:

We ate at rainforest cafe last thurs (30th July), and have to say whilst the theming is great, the service was friendly but slow and food was only adequate. My friend had fajitas and they very hard and crispy, she asked for more and they were almost as bad as the first lot. So we were not impressed, also it cost almost as much as our meal the previous night in the Blue Lagoon and that was far superior.
