We have made reservations and are going to the Fort in October. :woohoo:

So now my question is, could someone explain the food and wine festival at Epcot to me? If this is not the right place to ask, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks so much! :worship:

This will be my 3rd F&W fest in October, and we pretty much time our Ft visits to coincide with F&W.

Disney has released the official info at:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/pa...s/epcot-international-food-and-wine-festival/

Besides any of the special dinners and parties going throughout the fest, there are probably two main areas to checkout.

1) As you arrive in Epcot, head over to the old Wonders of Life Pavillion. That now acts as a welcome center for the fest. They'll have current info with what wine / food seminars will be going on, as well as any book signings that may be taking place. The majority of the seminars and book signing will take place at the Welcome center. This year the seminars will be $8, where in previous years they were free. They also have a wine bar, and a shop selling most of the wines/liquors being shown at marketplace kiosks.

2) The markeplace kiosks are my favorite part of F&W. They will have 20 or so large kiosks/booths stationed around the World Showcase. Each kiosk has a selections of food and drinks from it's native country. They are usually appetizer sized samples, with the food running from $2-8, and the drinks usually around $5-10. Yes, it can get expensive, but it's so much fun drinking and eating around the world. The site I linked above has a list of what's offered this year, but no prices yet.

Wow, I am so glad we are going during this time. Something new for me to experience at Disney. :thumbsup2

I can't wait. Is it October yet?? :rolleyes1

I don't know if anyone has told you yet,, but,, if you do the dining plan when your at Disney,,you can save your "snack credits" and use them to purchase from the food vendors at the F&W fest. :thumbsup2

Planning our very first wine and food fest in October for my husband, the gourmet cook's 60th birthday. Is it true that you can use the snack portion of the quick service dining plan for booths at Food and Wine? Ready to book entire trip and don't want to go over budget needlessly! Also, for you October vacationers ( my first) will I still get a tan? Really love the heat of August, but DH hates it. Love this site. Feel like I am there already. thanks!

This is best celebrated in France where you can find thousands of wine brands and yet some will be remaining.

It's a misnomer becaues it's actually Food and Wine AND BEER Festival - there's lot's of beer too.

Yes, you can use your snack credits for food samplings at The F&W Festival, have done it several times.

Yes, you definitely still can get a tan and a burn.

Something that involves beer and wine, the right place?????? I believe you will find many an expert on said product here.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

A great event to attend. One pointer, we got a prepaid gift card last year to pay as we went and it made it so much easier. Enjoy. :thumbsup2

Can you explain this prepaid gift card? Is this a disney card you buy there or one you bought somewhere else? :confused3

It's just a Disney Gift Card and it does speed things up a bit - the prices for the food are reasonable by Disney standards and the beer & wine are the normal Disney prices - somewhere in the $7 range or a little cheaper.

We got our card at the Welcome Center which it looks like it's in Future World East this year. Very easy to obtain, just find the register, ask for gift card and tell them how much you want to put on the card. If you don't use all the $$ on the card, you can easily use it somewhere else, food, gift shop, etc. They even had a nice wrist strap. I guess after a few beers and wine, the card could get lost.

It's a really fun time. :thumbsup2

Being a huge beer geek, I have to say that Disney sort of lacks in the beer offerings year round, and really miss the mark during the F&W fest. There are a few treasures here and there, but you have to hunt for them. I wish they would they would bring in some of the microbrewers for the Fest.

With that said, I always enjoy the Sam Adams festival brew, and I'm looking forward to the Abita brews. They should have the Abita amber, as well as thier Purple Haze at the NOLA kiosk.

The great thing about staying at the Ft during F&W ... I always pre-pack the RV with a few cases of good microbrews!!

as well as thier Purple Haze at the NOLA kiosk.

FWIW they have Purple Haze at the pool bar at POFQ all the time. I still like the beer though and agree more would be better but I can live with what they've got.......
