i cant wait to read more:) i bet going in dec will be beautiful!!! you are going to have to let us know how the crowds are the week that you go....i am going in sept but would always like to go around the holidays just once to experience it:)

YAY! Two readers! I am in business!!! Come one, come all and meet our delightful cast of characters that will be tagging along for this Merry retreat!

CAST OF CHARACTERS:
ME! JEN, 25
I guess you could say I'm your average Dis-obsessed girl, that has sadly only seen "The World" once! Before bumping into DF after years of being apart (more on that later...), I slaved away working 3 jobs and raking in the dough (dough that raked itself over to the local bars... oh to be dumb again :headache: - NOT!), one of those jobs was working as a private nanny for a lovely couple with three beautiful Guatemalan babies! I think it was about September, maybe October, and the mom asked me if I'd like to join them on a trip to Disney [I'm wondering if I am rambling and getting off topic, but then I remembered - this is my report, I get to make the rules!]. Now I was 22 at the time and I had never been to Disney, I guess growing up in the household I did there was never money to plan a "real" vacation (my parents were divorced when I was 8 and I have two older siblings - and for the record, one younger sister who came in to play when I was 15). So heck yes I jumped on that invite! Room, food & airfare would be covered, all I had to worry about was the souvenirs I would bring home  ! So, that was then and this is now... I am a stay-at-home-mom to my favorite girl in the world (most days...) and I also care for a few kids in my home. I am a tv junkie that needs an intervention. I should really read more, but there is just so much good trash on tv, that I can not seem to pull myself away! So, in a nutshell, that's me :goodvibes

DF, SHAMUS, 28
Shamus and I knew each other in middle school up through high school. We hung out here and there, but nothing was ever more than "just friends." Then after he graduated high school he decided that the Army was his next choice. I remember the day before he left we were hanging out at a local gas station ('cause that's where cool kids hang out, ya know!) and he went in and bought me a single rose - you know the ones, they're wrapped in cellophane, usually cost $1.99 and die within 24 hours! I do not recall the conversation that went along with the rose, but I remember there being a "sparked" kiss and maybe some tears as he was off to boot camp [I saved that rose for a long time, still wrapped in the cellophane - dried of course - but then one day I thought I could make some potpourri out of it - bad idea - wish I still had it today!]. Now, if you're following along and doing the math, he graduated in 1999... errr 2000... no 1999... Yes! 1999, so he was pre-9/11 and knowing someone was going off to the Army wasn't the worry that it is today, but was a worry none the less. So off he goes and off I go - to Nebraska, my mom had gotten re-married and had just had a baby girl (I decided that I wanted to be the full-time sister, not someone she saw here and there). [I know this is supposed to be about Shamus, but follow me and my scatter brain...] So I lived in Nebraska until my little sister, Casey turned 5 and then I decided I needed to be "home" - so I packed it up and headed back to The Cape (Cape Cod, Mass) [there is a LOOOOOOONG story that goes along with this decision to come home that I will save for a fill in entry along the way]. Shamus returned from the Army after serving 2 years of active duty in South Korea - a week before September 11th. He still remembers his mom calling him and telling him to turn on the news. He (and I) thanks his lucky stars that somehow, he avoided being called back. So, he's back and it's 2006 and he's dating this girl  (lol - not me!) - she decides she's moving to California and he doesn't want to go with her. Long story short, a few months later his friends take him out for a night on the town and I just so happened to be enjoying a night on the town myself (remember that money that raked itself away, I guess there is an upside to every story :) ). I came out of the bathroom and see his two friends, people we had gone to school with, and then I turned to see who else was in the booth and there was Shamus - one thing lead to another and 6 months later we're happily in a relationship and I am off to Disney (remember this statement and look for an update in Madi's intro!). Again, that was then and this is now - Shamus works for a great plumbing and heating company doing HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning - I think... the V may be something different...). He's not wild about Disney in general - he really likes that we're going, but he's not about to become a DIS member anytime soon... He's an avid reader and is a true gamer. He's really big on all things Zombie (and the like) - odd couple I know, but hey, I guess in the end we can live like Jack & Sally if we want to :) [YAY! Kelleigh I got my quote in here LOL]

DD, MADILYNN, 2 (in September)
SO, as you can see, Shamus is my DF and Madi our DD. She wasn't planned, but we have no regrets! Shamus and I began dating seriously in August of 2006 and as you recall I was off for a week of being on :cloud9: in early December of 2006. We were young lovers in love and had one last "rendezvous" [let's keep it PG here :)] before I was gone FOREVER (read: 6 days). So I go to Disney, have a great time with the kids (they were 2, 3 & 4) and then return safely to my honey! I went to Disney during the 2nd week of December and a few days after I returned my mom and little sister flew out for Christmas. Since they were flying here for Christmas it meant I had to play :santa: for Casey. I had the "stress" of going to Disney, the stress of executing Christmas and the stresses of working at a youth shelter for court referred teens :-)scared:)! Christmas passed and I noticed that my monthly friend hadn't visited me over the holiday as I had anticipated... I wrote it off as stress! A week later I begin to think - maybe this isn't stress... so I took a test :teacher: , then another, and another the next morning - and low and behold pixiedust: we were going to be parents! After a visit to confirm it with blood work from my doctor, it seems Madi is my "Night Before Disney" souvenir! Once more - that was then and this is now [I really like the way this has flowed together in my own crazy weaving] - Madi is my beautiful baby girl most days, and other days she's my monster-beast! She was 10 pounds when she was born and has always been a tall girl. She is currently 35 inches (wish me - and her - luck that she can gain 3 more inches before December so she can ride Kali River Rapids!) - but I'll be updating this in about a month when we go for her 2 year old well child check up. Right now she is a rough and tough little girl who runs this house and knows it! She loves all things Disney, I swear I didn't force it on her - what's not to love! She's a big fan of the Hot Dog dance on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and her all time favorite movie is Enchanted! She's a princess in pirates clothing is the best way to describe her!

So, there's the skinny on me and my "little family!" I am a little cautious to post Madi's picture (anywhere, really) so this PTR will be picture free - for now! I hope you all enjoyed "meeting" us and are looking forward to the next installment. Maybe a little more back story on me, maybe an intro to Madi's birthday plans, or maybe something totally different... stick around, you never know what's gonna come out next!

My little baby is going to be turning 2 on the 6th of September (the day before I can make my ADR's!!! :yay:) and since she really can't "voice" the theme she'd like to have, I have decided to have (read: continue to PUSH) a Mickey & Minnie theme! Madi is a big fan of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and I really feel the need to pump her up or add some hype to our BIG trip to see THE mouse! To add a little twist I have decided to go with Classic Mickey as opposed to today's Mickey.

Here's what I've acquired so far: [PICTURES TO BE POSTED TOMORROW]
- Super cute mini tin lunch boxes with Classic Mickey on them in 3 styles
- Mickey ear candle holders
- Vintage Mickey & Minnie large cake candle
- Good bag items: Mickey & Friends mini notebooks, tattoos & stickers
- White, black, red & yellow latex balloons
- I am hand making these ADORABLE invites that look like a big Mickey head that I found (read: stole!) from someone selling them on ebay and thought - "heck! I can do that!"

It seems like every time something is too good to be true, it is! I ordered these AMAZING balloons that fit so well with our theme on ebay. The seller was from Canada, which I wasn't really worried about, but after 8 days and no package in my mailbox I sent a message inquiring about delivery time she replied 4 - 10 business days. After 10 days I sent her an email with no response. Another email, again no response. So I had to open a dispute with ebay & paypal. I purchased these on the 29th of June and just today I was given my refund. Honestly, I could care less about the $14 being returned - I REALLY wanted these balloons. So - now for my plea: if anyone can find this balloon anywhere at ANY (reasonable) price, please - Please - PLEASE let me know! I have scoured the internet to the best of my ability and have had no luck :( Here's the link: MICKEY PARTY BALLOON I NEED IT!!!

Okay - vent over, but really if anyone were able to find that balloon I would be eternally grateful! I have also purchased her party dress and after party play outfit. I think that's it, but I will do a double check tomorrow before I post pics (everything is in my DD closet and as you other mom's know, you DON'T go in a sleeping baby's room!)

That's it for tonight folks - catch ya on the flip side!

*Side Note: Over on the December boards I found another Disser going the same time I am and she is from the same place as me. I sent her a PM to ask where abouts on our little man made island she lives and she lives one town over! Then we exchange ages - I'm 25, she's 24 about to be 25. Crazy... not yet! Then we find out we both went to the same school and graduated the same year. Then we exchange names and BOOM! How crazy is that?! Only on The Dis!

Hi! We are traveling at the same time!! (Sort-of) We used to vacation on the Cape every year (until we started going to Disney)!! I love it there...so beautiful! Looking forward to hearing all your plans! If you get the chance, come on over and check out my PTR. I just started it tonight, so not too much up yet, but lots to come!

Great updates! :thumbsup2

You an your DF have such a cute story. :lovestruc Nice usage of the "live like Jack and Sally" line! :rotfl:

I think maybe I'll have a vintage mickey party for my next brithday. If it works for 2, it has to work for 23, right?!?

What you don't see in this picture is the thigh-highs with playing card symbols held up by a garter belt and my ruffley-bum matching panties... you don't see them, but the rest of the free world (read: Main Street Hyannis, MA) had plenty of views at it all... oh why?

Back to MY PTR, we get sidetracked so easily girls! Up next I will def. get those pictures posted today and then we'll discuss the plans and replans of the over all trip... is it naptime yet? And by pictures I mean Madi's birthday stuff - no more smut...

We all have one of those pics!! The shameful not-so-innocent Halloween costume pic...only mine is only 2 years ago and I had 3 kids!!!

I'm still being called "Swiss Miss" now!! Slightly embarrassing! So, don't feel bad!

Not yet there isn't!

I see your Swiss Miss, and I raise you:

Trashy Gretl!

disney2008126.jpg

Actually, this costume wasn't even supposed to be trashy... The night before we left for Disney last year, I finally talked DBF into wearing Hansel and Gretl costumes to Mickey's Not So Scary... he's born and raised in Germany, so to see him in liederhosen is just too much. :lmao:

Anyway, we bought the not-trashy version, because, after all, we intended to wear them at disney.

When I opened the costume and tried it on, the night of the party... I realized that one-size-fits-all costumes are NOT designed for really tall girls. Being 5'11'', that costume ended up being WAY to leggy for Disney. I had to wear another skirt under it. :rotfl:

OK, now I PROMISE that is the last questionable photo I will post... and this time I mean it!
