The Darling Family June Beach Club Trip:Hugging Ewoks and Finding Peter Pan

You know, I'd read that about the IG and rope drop and the crowds so we drove to Epcot on our rope drop morning. It felt weird because we were staying so close. Cute t-shirts again. Hmmm. Did you see Marie? Considering Wendy's shirt, that would have been perfect.:)
Driving to Epcot wasn't a choice for us because we didn't have a car. It worked out OK. I think if we'd been heading to Soarin we may have even beat the crowds, but Test Track was further away. And good guess, it is Marie (maybe the shirt sent subliminal messages):goodvibes

Awesome character photos!! We've never done the character connection because we've always had a meal with those same characters but it looks like such a fun place to meet them all!!

I love the Test Track photo too! I was a little chicken this trip and didn't ride. ;)

Oh, I bet you see Marie! That would be fabulous! We looked everywhere for her but never found her!
The character connections is my favorite meet 'n greet because you get to meet the Fab 5 and only stand in one line:thumbsup2 And you win another update, Marie it is:goodvibes

Love the family photo!

I think it would make a great Christmas card!

Bummer about the line at test track. I thought the CM's let you in 5 minuties early at the furture world rope. At least you didn't end up waiting long.
The CM's let us in the IG early, and we walked to FW where there was another rope which they dropped right at 9:00. At least we didn't have to wait in the IG area which was what I was worried about.

Ahh...more great character shirts and pictures!!! too cute!:goodvibes Test Track is so much fun!! Love the ride photo!!:thumbsup2
We aren't lacking for character shirts, are we:rotfl: I bought them for $3 each at our local Disney Outlet store. Can't beat that:thumbsup2

I'm glad to hear that Chef Mickey's was a hit. We have never been there. I would love to go one day. You can never see Mickey Mouse too much in my opinion. I love the Donald Duck pictures. He is too funny.
Chef Mickey's was a lot of fun. Too bad it's so hard to get an ADR for. We definitely saw Mickey our share of times this trip. All of the other characters too:goodvibes

Looks like the kids enjoyed checking out the new cars! Can't wait for more!
They love those cars! I think it's because they seem much sleeker than our minivan:laughing:

All caught up - I'm guessing you met Marie
You hit the jackpot. Marie it is:banana: You and all of your closest DIS friends win another update:laughing:

Great updates, keep them coming, love the pictures:thumbsup2 What a beautiful family.
Thank you:goodvibes I think my family is beautiful too:)

More great character shots!!!! Your kids are just so cute!!

It was nice to see that Peter Pan enjoyed his test track ride! That picture is just too cute!
I'm glad you said something about the test track picture. I hadn't looked at it that closely. DH is having a great time. I should pay better attention;)

Day 5, Part II

We were still in the midst of characters.:cool1: Next was Minnie.

Then Donald
Image393.jpg

Image394.jpg

Donald spotted DH’s shirt and started jumping up and down. He insisted he get a picture so we have these lovelies. There's a little Peter Pan action going on:lovestruc
Image397.jpg

Image398.jpg

Last of all came Goofy
Image401.jpg

Image402.jpg

Image403.jpg

Goofy wanted a shot with me. I think he sensed we're kindred spirits;)
Image405.jpg

Goofy’s handler noticed Wendy’s shirt and told us to check out the hallway right out the door. Guess who we saw?

I couldn’t believe it. What a purrfect day to see Marie. Wendy was wearing a Marie shirt! Marie was so cute. She actually purred.:cutie: I’ve never heard any of the characters make noises before. It was such a cute little sound. There was a crawling baby after us and Marie actually got down on all fours and crawled toward the little baby. It was absolutely adorable:goodvibes

We walked out the building and saw these guys.
DSC00695.jpg

The boys loved them. They make the same kind of music my boys make on the pots and pans at home.

Since John and I had missed the Seas yesterday we all decided to head over there. We hopped on the clamshells and went looking for Nemo. Afterwards we had to get the obligatory Bruce photo
DSC00696.jpg

Afterwards we wandered around the tanks for a while. Michael especially loved looking at the fish. At the gift shop John saw a Nemo Webkinz that he really wanted. I promised him we’d come back and get it later. (Never make promises like that. Just buy it when you see it:rolleyes1) We had big plans for lunch and time was getting close so we headed in that direction. So what were these big plans?

Love the picture of your kids in Bruce's mouth!! That's always a great photo-op!!:thumbsup2

You saw Marie!! :lovestruc Ahhh....what a sweet picture!!

That character spot looks like so much fun!! After seeing all your pics, you've convinced me that I must take my boys there next trip.:goodvibes

Big plans for lunch?? Can't wait to find out where?popcorn::

I'm so glad your post dinner photo op worked out for you-

Also glad you brought up Character Conncections-I've heard good things about it and some people seem to feel its a better/easier place to catch up with the characters...

How lucky was Wendy to bump into Marie?:goodvibes I've never seen her before...

Such Pretty shots of France and Morroco at twilight...:cloud9:

You got so many great character pictures!

"I can't believe this will be reality in about 7 years."
I always think that when the boys are in those cars..definitely scary!

Marie is SO SO cute with Wendy!

"Big plans" for lunch, what could they be?! :teeth:

Awww, Marie was the icing on the cake!!! Great pictures!

I have a question for you, if you don't mind. My daughter made reservations for boardwalk over Christmas this year. (I can't go due to work:sad1::mad:). Your report said you could enter through the IG prior to park opening and wait at the rope in WS for rope drop. Does this happen daily? It should work out perfectly for them as my grandsons are too small for Soarin, TT and MS. They will be doing "tamer" rides that day. TIA!!:goodvibes

You definitely should visit Character Connections. It's such a great way to knock off the Fab 5 all at the same time:thumbsup2

I'm glad we got the Epcot family shot too. We spent tons of time at Epcot but since we always entered at the IG this was our only chance to get that shot. I'm glad we saw Marie too. She was just adorable:cutie: I hope you geet to see her sometime.

We never seem to lack for character pictures:laughing: Stay tuned for the "big plans". Your feature is almost here:yay:

We only went to Epcot at rope drop once this trip, but I assume it happens everyday. We arrived at the turnstiles about 8:45 and they let us in. We then had to walk through the UK and Canada and they stopped us before we entered Future World and held us until 9:00. As I said it put us behind the front gate crowds at TT. I think the Land is closer to that area than the front gate area so if we'd gone that way we might have arrived about the same time as the front gate crowd. We never tried it. Anyway, with the tamer rides it wouldn't be a problem at all. Heck if you were going to ride Figment you'd be the first one there. Hope that answers your question (it probably over answers it:laughing:)

This installment we add a few more members to the cast. Introducing the Disney Family which includes

BDF: My Best Disney Friend. She was my BN (best neighbor) until almost 2 years ago. It was a sad day when they left. Luckily I’ve been able to meet up with her at Disney World a couple of times since they left. She is one of the few people I know in real life who understands and listens to my Disney obsession.

BDFDH: Best Disney Friend’s husband. A super nice guy that loves Disney World. (In that way he is different from my DH who is a super nice guy that likes Disney World every few years.);)

LB #1: Lost Boy #1, 9 years old
LB #2: Lost Boy #2, 7 years old
LB #3: Lost boy #3, 5 years old
LB #4: Lost Boy #4, 3 years old

You read that right 4 lost boys. To join with John and Michael. That made 6 boys and poor Wendy.:scared: She definitely had her hands full. Luckily for Wendy these lost boys had a mother on stand by:laughing: My boys love LB#1-4. Wendy said, “BDF and BDFDH are my friends. All those boys are weird.” :rotfl: (She actually used their real names instead of acronyms). She tolerated “weird boys” pretty well however and we all enjoyed our new cast members.

If you didn’t figure it out from the introduction of our new cast members, I will now reveal our big lunch plans. We were meeting our new cast members at Sunshine Seasons.
IMG_0210.jpg

We made our way to the Land and scanned the seating area. There they all were saving 2 big tables for us. :woohoo: We hurried down and happily greeted the Disney Family. It was great to see them and the boys hit it off right away. They didn’t need anytime to get reacquainted! Here is a shot of all the kids eating lunch.
IMG_0211b.jpg

After finishing up our tasty lunch we decided a ride on Living with the Land was in order. We headed over to hop in line and a CM approached us and offered us fastpasses. That sounded much better than waiting 30 minutes so we happily said yes. He then gave us handwritten fastpasses with our return time. They must hot have wanted a group of 11 clogging up the queue. So with a bit of time to kill we decided to go see the movie Circle of Life. We headed upstairs and into the theater just as the movie started. Perfect timing. It was so much fun to look down the row and see all the kids watching the show. Picture moment.
IMG_0212b.jpg

We really enjoyed the movie. Beautiful scenery and an important message.
After the film it was time for Living with the Land. As usual we enjoyed the ride.
IMG_0214b.jpg

LB#4 was especially cute because he kept asking for the baby alligators. He had been on the ride about 6 months earlier and those alligators must have had a big impact.:cutie:

Next up was Soarin. This was a big moment for the Disney family because #4 was finally tall enough to ride it. That meant for the first time their whole family could ride it together. No baby swap necessary.:yay: Here the kids are waiting in line.
IMG_0215b.jpg

And here we are preparing to Soar. We took up an entire row. I’m not quite sure how DH got stuck all the way on the end with all the kids. It must have been one of those Peter Pan moments and he wanted to spend time with his Lost Boys:laughing:
IMG_0217b.jpg

LB#4 was a bit nervous being his first time.
IMG_0218.jpg

It was also the first time for LB#3 and he absolutely loved it. It’s always fun to watch a kid’s first time flying (even without pixie dust);)

After Soarin we were done with the Land and had to decide where to head next. BDF and I decided we wanted a group picture with the whole clan so we headed over to the Disney Visa Character Greeting in Innoventions. While we made our way over there we sent the men for Test Track fastpasses, hoping we could do that later. When we arrived at Innoventions it wasn’t quite time for the character greeting, but there was already a short line. We hopped in and the kids played the free video games right next to the line. (This was heaven for John.:cloud9: I’d intentionally left his DS at home.)
IMG_0219.jpg

After a short wait we were escorted into the room and were greeted by Minnie and Goofy. Here are a few of the shots.

I think they turned out pretty good considering the size of the group. Now the question was: What next?

How fun that you got to meet Marie. Wendy looks so cute with her.:cutie: AND what a great looking group you and your friend's family make. I bet the kids had a ball. How nice to have a friend who really "gets" the Disney love.

We really enjoyed Living w/ the Land also!! DS favorite part is seeing the baby alligators. He gets very excited!!;)

Glad to hear you all enjoyed Soarin'--such a fun ride!!:thumbsup2

Great group shot with Minnie and Goofy!!:goodvibes

How fun! I bet it's fun to have Disney friends! I would love to take a big group trip sometime...yes, I'm crazy! ;)

Oh Jenny, you cracked me up with your acronyms for us and your description of Wendy's feelings about the boys!!:rotfl::rotfl:

I am so happy to be your BDF!!!!!!!:goodvibes:cheer2:
(And I wish we were still BN's! :(:(:(:( )

I was thinking that about your dh...all the way at the end with most of the kids between he and us. lol

I just love our group pictures! :goodvibes

Oh how much fun is it to be able to share Disney with your friends!!! You guys looke like you are having a blast!! YAY for whole family and group to be able to ride Soarin together!!!! I love the boys matching shirts!! Those Character Meet pictures turned out great!!!!!

You got to meet Marie, how exciting. She was my daughter's favorite when she was 2 and 3. I would love to meet her. I will definitely look for her in there. Your daughter was outnumbered for sure. When we go this year with my family my son will be the only boy. My brother has 4 girls and I have one.

I never even noticed the baby alligators until going with #4. I guess they are big with the younger set:laughing:

Disney friends are the best kind!

Hey BDF:laughing::hug: It is pretty funny that DH is stuck with all the kids while I'm jabbering away to you and your DH. Poor guy. Story of his life;)

The only thing better than Disney is Disney with friends:goodvibes Soarin was fun and it was the perfect fit for us. 11 people fit on a row:goodvibes

Looks like your DS's had a great time with the boys!
All of those boys:scared1: They had a great time together:goodvibes

Marie was cute. I think they are bringing her out more these days so you should be able to meet her sometime. I've seen pictures of her in the "secret" character greeting place in Toontown too. It's over by the train stop. Hopefully your son doesn't get overwhelmed by all the girls on your trip. He may have to sneak away for some boy time:laughing: Wendy still had great fun. I think she sometimes likes being the only girl. It makes her the princessprincess:

We were in Innoventions and my kids were clamoring to do “the fire game.” I was pretty sure they meant the game where you run around and find fire hazards, competing with other teams. However, there was a line for that game.:confused3 So, they played the “fire game” that involved learning about how to get out of a burning house. Here they are intently listening.
DSC00706.jpg

They then asked for adult volunteers to be Fire and somehow DH ended up with the role. He was quite good.
DSC00708.jpg

No one is going to try and escape out that window.:scared1:

After we all successfully learned how to escape a burning house and my children made me proud by telling the CM where their meeting place was (a meeting place I’d actually forgotten:confused3), we decided to leave Innoventions and venture over to Future World. There was a Kim Possible fastpass burning a whole in my pocket.

On the way over we stopped for a shot with the Ball. (Which, by the way, Michael informed us rolls away every night when the park is closed. That must be a site to behold!:lmao::lmao:)
DSC00710.jpg

After the photo we all began walking toward Future World with Norway as our destination. Wendy was sidetracked by a kiosk selling Minnie Mouse Flip Flops.:cutie: Wendy had been looking for these in her size all week so we had to stop. The rest of the group went ahead while Wendy and I made the purchase. Here they are (a bit worse for the wear)
DSC00927.jpg

While I waited in line, I instructed Wendy to run up and tell the rest of the crew not to wait for us. She came back and told me they were already on their way. So after making our shoe purchase we headed over to Norway. Can I just mention, it was HOT. When we arrived we didn’t see anyone. Weird since they should have beat us.:confused3 The phone rings. It’s DH asking, “Where the heck are you?” I answer, “In Norway.” Well they were still over by the shoe kiosk. Apparently they were waiting. Wendy just didn’t see them.:rolleyes1 I apologized profusely and everyone trotted over to Norway where we picked up the Kimmunicator and the kids all chased the bad guys.:cool2:

IMG_0234.jpg

Once again, the kids loved this and once again, it was too dang hot! I’m not sure why we kept doing this in the middle of the day! (Those pictures were taken at 2:40.) We finished the mission and I knew one thing. I wanted out of the heat.:rolleyes1 I thought the kids needed a swim break, but our friends couldn’t go swimming with us. They mentioned they might head over to the Universe of Energy. This was something we’d never done and I really wanted to do it. What did we decide? What did the kids think of the decision?

Hmmm. Swimming sounds great, but I bet the kids wanted to hang with their friends, so Universe of Energy wins I think. I would have never imagined learning how to escape from a burning building as a game, but I guess Disney can do anything! The kids do look pretty engrossed. Yea for KP!!
