I've been a DVC member since 1998 and love it. But, DD is grown and the pull to Florida just isn't there anymore for DH and me. We've had great trades so far to Arizona, Maui (Marriott), and Aruba (Marriott Surf Club). I'd love to hear of more great trade opportunities that are out there.
Please share places you are thinking about trading to :)

We traded for 4 nights in Vegas at the Hilton at the convention center in March. We haven't stayed yet but we are definatly looking forwards to it.

We traded into the kaanapali beach club on Maui this summer. we got the trade last summer when II was with disney. I just saw that the kaanapali beach club is now on the new list . We would go back there in a second. Great condo/hotel. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Traded 160 DVC points for 7 nights at the Playa Grande in Cabo for next March. Can't wait!!!! :woohoo:

What trades have you made?
My RCI Exchange history includes Bay Club Waikoloa (Big Island, HI;11/02), WM Arrow Point (CDL, Idaho; 5/03), Grand Pacific Palisades (Carlsbad, CA; 6/03, 7/06, 5/07 and 5/09), Smugglers Notch (VT; 10/03), WM Eagle Crest (Redmond, WA; 1/04), Greensprings Plantation (Williamsburg, VA; 5/05), Summer Bay Resort (Orlando, FL; 12/05), Wyndham Bali Hai (Kauai, HI; 2/09) and DVC BWV (future reservation for 1/10). Add to that Chateau Canmore (Alberta, CAN; 1/02), Boambee Bay Club (Coffs Harbour, AU; 8/02), Canada House (Pompano Beach, FL; 8/04), an earlier trip to Summer Bay Resort (Orlando; 12/4) and others now forgotten booked via RCI rentals (Bonus Weeks or Bonus Vacations). The exchanges I've booked, later canceled (sad!) include Kruger Park Lodge (South Africa; 10/01) and Kilconquhar Castle Estate (Scotland, 01/03??).

My II exchange history is largely into DVC BWV (1/04, 1/05, 1/06 - 2 units, 1/08), one week into the Four Seasons Club Aviara (Carlsbad, CA; 12/05) and one into the Makaha Golf and Country Club (Oahu, HI; 2/08). We used II's Getaway weeks to book Westgate Towers (Orlando, FL; 1/03), Wyndham Palms (now Mystic Palms; Orlando, FL; 12/04) and Waikoloa Colony Villas (Big Island, HI; 7/08).

None of these exchanges were against my DVC points ... but fun travel all the same.

JoEllen - the Worldmark properties across the Western states are worth considering. You might also consider joining the Timeshare User's Group (TUG) for an extensive collection of resort reviews.

We traded our developer points for a stay at the Royal Sands in Cancun last year, but that was through II. Our future trades will be using my parents Marriott. We made a deal with them that if they traded their unit that we would give them a week in our DVC. Good thing they like to go in September!

I am very disappointed that DVC is no longer affiliated with II.

We've traded out to get some great mini vacations.
New York City
Mandarian Oriental-Washington DC.
London

Always fabulous stays.

We've only traded out to NYC for a few nites stay, but that was whn DVC was with II. going to try to trade out for Key West.....not counting on it, but worth a shot before I book a cash ressie!

We're looking at that too!

How long did it take to do the trade?

Did you know what area the accomodations are in? Beachside or the Ridge?

I am going to go and take a lot at the member website and see what's available as far as trades are concerned@!

Beachside :cloud9: Ridge is far too fancy for us and the waitlist took just a couple of weeks. I have been in contact with the resort via email and thus far their customer service has been outstanding. :thumbsup2

I am very disappointed that DVC is no longer affiliated with II.

We are also disappointed with the loss of II. We like to stay 1 wk at BCV and use leftover points to exchange. Have had nice stays at Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Springs, Marriott Surf Club in Aruba, Harborside Atlantis, off the top of my head. None of the RCI properties interests me in the Caribbean, so we're doing a cash vacation to St. Thomas, then will stay 1 week at BCV in March.

We haven't traded out since we had our son (7 years) but before that we traded out to Disneyland Paris (twice) and with the concierge collection a few times.

Charleston Place (club level)
Grove Park Inn, Asheville, NC
The Jefferson, Washington DC
Shelburne Murray Hill, New York

We didn't like the Shelburne but the other three were just wonderful especially The Jefferson, where we received the best service of our lives, they really made us feel like royalty. So sad it's been bought over by one of the big chains!

I don't know if it would be worth it points wise to trade out now as concierge points are so much more now than when we bought in 1998.

We also tried a couple of times to trade out with II but could never get any European destinations for the dates we wanted. RCI is worse, they've hardly got any European destinations at all!

So it's a good thing we love Disney as we probably won't be doing any more trades!
