Hello Alex,

Considering the re-located post by Diane, I have thought about this and really think it is time for the DVC boards to have a DVC community forum. DVC members really feel like family and posting on the Disney community board is like posting to the entire world. To me being the DCB is like standing in the middle of a Nascar race...

I know the current boards are intended to be DVC specific, but I think it would be wonderful to have a DVC community board that allows us DVC members to talk about things not necessarily DVC related, but DVC member related.

Hope you will consider this.

Thanks, Rob

You've got my vote! I enjoyed my time on the Disboards much more in the 'old days'...I'm still hooked but it's not as much fun as it used to be, and I think this would add that certain 'something' that's lacking...;)

I agree! This is one of the most positive places to hang out on the web!! :goodvibes

I guess I sort of consider the mousellaneous as such, our dvc community... Having a seperate place for general topics outside of dvc for dvc members would be nice from a user perspective and I would vote yes if asked the question... but I do know that hosting these boards is quite complex and the amount of time and money that goes in to this would be an additional burden on Alex (and his team). Expansions would increase the costs, would require additional team members to support the back end (servers, routing, bandwidth as well as the application layers) and would also require additional moderators to maintian the front end discussions as well. Again, if asked I'd vote yes but am uncertain if the "ends would justify the means", in this particular situation.

If expansions were to be made in the future, in addition to the dvc community, I would vote for an "all things disney trivia section" as well which could be a general trivia regarding disney, all the disney parks and of course all the hidden mickeys would also be great.

But obviously it isnt up to us and it should be known that we are very greatful for what Alex and company already provide. THANKS ALEX !!!

Agreed. Yesterday I started a thread about using a netflix device at disney in this forum. I specifically targeted this forum because DVC members are less likely to be park oriented and make themselves more at home when at disney but it was moved because it was not dvc enough. It got moved to the community board and now I may never get the answer I was looking for.

We are not the average disney goers so it would be nice to communicate on topics not directly related to dvc.

I agree with this from a different perspective. I do not normally socialize on community threads. I like to log on, look at the DVC specifc threads, get what I need and log off. From time to time I find that threads wander into social waters. I know there are alot of posters who like to do this, and there is nothing wrong with that, people get their enjoyment from diffent things on the DIS.

If they had an area to do this within the DVC section, then social postings on the other threads might decrease. I think it would make the DVC section better for all.

Boy, that is for sure! :rolleyes1

I'm in for the DVC community forum!

No doubt. One of my favorite things to do at disney is to go see a movie. I never seem to have the time to do it at home but for a normal vacationer this is probably absurd. The whole experience changes when you know you are going at least once a year.

Let's say I wanted an up-to-date channel list. If I posted that in one of the really busy forums it might not even get a reply but I know one of my fellow DVCers will have that information. BTW, does someone have one?

The thread about TS meals was not exactly DVC related but the answers it will get in this forum are far different than in other forums.

Also when you interact with other DVC members, unlike just the general population, you are interacting with your neighbors.

For this reason alone, I would vote for it.

But I wouldn't want it to be like the Dis community forum or the TUG community forum, where the topics are completely non-Disney related. :confused3

You are right but it could be all things vacation including non disney trips. We obviously all have similiar tastes in lodging so if someone went somewhere new and had a good time I wouldn't mind reading about it.

ETA: Come to think of it I would love to see non disney related trip reports from DVCers. They would be much more valuable than an average vacationer.

I feel this exact same way. I would definitely enjoy a DVC Community Forum if it is a possibility.
