Can you order ala cart w/out a tea service? How do 10&12yr old girls do? Any reveiws with this age group?

yes you can

my dd was 3 when we took her but i know my neice how is now 16 would have loved it at any time.

they are both girly girls and love tea party games. i guess it would depend on your dd's.

i don't see why any young lady wouldn't want to enjoy that at least once :)

i think it may become a regular thing for us now - it was a great way to kick start our wdw trip

My dd loves this - its relaxing out of the hustle and bustle and heat!

We went when she was 10 for a "Dis meet" and she so wanted to the tea - ordered it - with the fancy sandwiches, and her face fell when the other kids got the Mrs Pott's tea (choc milk, plain ham sandwiches, pbj) the kind CM noted her reaction and asked to replace her tea with Mrs Potts!! :wizard:

She spent the next years trying different teas for when we would return for her 12th birthday!! :lovestruc She found she loved Darjeeling tea!! All set for her bday treat! (I ordered her the slipper dessert for this tea too! special $15 treat you have to pre order!)

WeddingPictures-somedisney019.jpg

When we first read the menu - no mention of Darjeeling - so I asked the CM - and sure enough they had it!!!

DH ordered the oolong tea! We didnt realize it was a "green leaf" tea!!

Here is our 3 tea choices (mine is the darker black tea!)

The CM surprised dd with a rose for her birthday!!

Thanks for posting all the great pics. I've also wanted to do this tea for the past couple of trips but haven't been able to work it in. I think my granddaughters will actually be better ages on our next trip anyway. Now I will definitely put it in the plan!

ahhhh thank you :)

i thought it was cute she was acting like me when i poured my tea through the strainer she said she had to pour her "tea" through too.

my mom kept asking what kind of tea it was and why would i let her pour hot tea. i couldn't stop laughing and finally dh had to tell her it was choc. milk not tea.

My mom and I did this a couple years ago, and I would love to take my new DH on our honeymoon this year. He said he doesn't care if he's the only guy there, but do you think he will look odd? (Again, not that he would care!!) Also, I can't remember, do they by chance have a pressed coffee he could drink or just tea? He would be fine with tea, but he LOVES coffee!

Thanks!

Silly question, but where do you make reservations for this? There wasn't a link on the disney dining website, so is it a different number? Hoping to add it to my September trip! Thanks.

its like a regular reservation - just call the disney number and make your reservation.

it's not a large restaurant so depending on the time of year or even the time of day it may fill up fast

no he won't be the only one there - when we were there in april there was a table of 6 men (business type) plus at least 1 third of the tables were couples another 1/3 families with mom dad and kids and the rest were women so it's always a mix of male female and kids

Hi. I took my 12-year-old daughter and my 10-year-old niece in March :cloud9: They had both been before but we always LOVE afternoon tea at the Grand. It's very fun - and very delicious! You will have a wonderful time!

China green tea is known for its mild and subtle taste, refreshing aroma, and pale hues. The leaves range in appearance from silver to deep emerald. Imperial English Breakfast - Elegant and refined smooth sweetness. A blend of Ceylon and China Black Teas.

Russian Earl Grey - Inspired by the old tradition of shipping tea with lemon for flavor: Made from the rind of spicy Bergamot orange to give the exotic blend of citrus.

Eros - Medium bodied Ceylon: Sweet Mandarin orange with warm vanilla for a sweet, smooth and creamy finish.

Cassis - A rich black currant flavor for an exceptionally aromatic and sweet finish.

:yay: More great pictures!

johnsonet's picture gives you an idea on how small the Grand Tea area is!

Thanks!

Kurby posted the offerings, and yes they do have Coffee!

My dh didnt go the first time - (he thought he would save money silly man! I saved disney dollars, I just thought he was embarrased to go!) SO the 2nd time he went!! and he really enjoyed it!!

If you look at the pictures with the DD in them (both mine and Kurby's) you can see men in the background!!

The pictures are beautiful:) The little one pouring her "tea" makes me think of my little granddaughter:) She is soooo precious. My little great niece will love this, so I am excited to take her. I have ressies already and this will be just another little surprise for her. Thank you all for pictures and your input:)

DH and I went on our 7th anniversary and both loved it :lovestruc. We'll be going back this year for our 10th anniversary.

Last time, I ordered a mini cake with a white chocolate castle. Here's a photo of our tea service and cake. Our waitress was great, helped us set up the shot and everything.

Thanks for the tip because as many times as I have been - I've never gone with a man :rotfl: If I can drag my DH this summer, I will. I really do think he'd enjoy it. If only for the peace and quiet
Your daughter is gorgeous, BTW, and looks so happy with her birthday rose princess:

Beautiful cake - and what a nice thing to do on an anniversary trip :lovestruc

This might be a stupid question. We're heading down to WDW in Dec for 8 days/7 nights. We're only doing 5 day park hoppers and on our down day I thought this would be something fun to do with just my mom. She's turning 60 this month and I won't be able to be with her on her birthday. So as a very belated gift I thought the tea would be fun.

If I do it, we'll do the Grand tea. My question is this - can you pick and choose which tea sandwiches you want or do they bring you all of them? There are things on the offerings list that I know I won't eat and possibly a few my mom won't.

Thanks!
