Tut-Tut, it Looks Like Rain! May '09 Trip Report. *Finished! 9/27 Pg. 69.

Your update made me laugh out loud more than once! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Oh too funny! We'll mention something LL if you start posting the same day twice. ;)

VERY cute! And I love your top!

:lmao: Do you like them with ketchup? ;)

Your whole time at Brown Derby sounded so magical- from Julie Andrews to the AMAZING dessert! (I'm just pretending the bathroom ordeal did not happen. :sad2::sad1:)

This is SUCH a cool light fixture.

And YAY for the Cowboy! Tonight I was going through the very little Disney World video we have done and we have 3 clips of the GMR! I am going to upload them to YouTube for easy access. ;)

Sorry to see Jen leave...:guilty: Thankfully you get to see her again soon!

Oh that is too funny about MeMom!!!

Bummer that you did not get the Dumbo shot. The one from CRT is pretty close though. :goodvibes And just another good reason on why you must go back in October! :thumbsup2
I am so happy that I get to see Jen soon! Yay!

And yes....I do like my people with ketchup. :cool2:

Yay for finally meeting Mickey!
OMG. The UP characters are so cute! Hmmm...I wonder if they're in Disneyland.
I love your character quiz results. ;) (Lady Tremaine's in my top 5 favorite Disney characters)
Brown Derby looks delish. It had be drooling. :thumbsup2
Boo for Jen leaving. :( At least you'll get to see her again in September. :woohoo:
The UP characters were super duper cute. I hope they are still there in the Fall so I can meet them!

:cloud9: Brown Derby :cloud9:. Ahh. So glad you enjoyed your meal. How perfect was the Julie Andrews signature?! Love that you got a booth. That just increases the Hollywood glamour, don't you think? I don't know what it is, but there is something about those rolls. *Drool*

Hurrah for finally getting your picture taken with Mickey. Jen- just noticed your special t-shirt. And your visor with the mickey head is cute!! LL- like your shirt too. I'm finding myself obsessing about my wardrobe for our upcoming trip :sad2:- maybe b/c I know with so many of us doing TRs it will be well documented!

You finally saw the cowboy! Yippee! I don't know if I've seen that. Not recently, certainly.

Oh, and you're NOT like Lady Tremaine. That's just silly!
I was on cloud nine at our Brown Derby meal. Everything was just perfect. :cloud9: I loved the booth....we are requesting one right?

I love Jen's visor. I believe she bought that at the ASMu shop. It was really cute.

Looking forward to Snow White in November! :yay:

I hope Disney never loses the small touches like having the kids open places. That's such a simple thing that can't anything on to their operating costs, and it creates special memories for everyone who sees it.

It's great that you found a new friend through the DIS. I'm sure you will have more fun trips together in the future.
All those special things really do create wonderful memories. I witnessed a lot of those this trip and they were wonderful.

I'm so glad you updated again! Are you and CP purposely updating on the same nights or is that purely coincidence????????

I love the Mickey picture. That is so awesome. It makes me wish I would take the time to get in some of the character lines. However, I think I am the only one in my group who really cares. I guess that's why I really need a girl's trip.

The cheesecake at the BD looks fabulous. I have a lunch resie there for September. I may HAVE to have that!

The parenting skills in the bathroom are horrible. What a way to make you feel sick on a full stomach. :scared1:

Your scores on TSM are WAY better than mine. Maybe that's why I have decided to bypass TSM FP's for ToT and RnR. I'm not very good and it makes my arm hurt. Boo hoo! Poor me!

I'm really glad that you and Jen got to be such good friends! How truly special that you are so compatible and that you got to have such a great trip together. Bye Jen.......Sorry your time with LL is over! Hopefully this is the first of many trips together. Now let's see who buys DVC first!
No...we aren't updating on the same on purpose...but it's funny!

I think Jen will buy DVC first. I count on it. :rolleyes1

Try the cheesecake! It's amazing. I am somewhat of a cheesecake snob and this one passed with FLYING colors.

I just read your whole report so far!!!

Love both of your photos and I can;t wait to read more!

(Your poor feet! I hope they got better!)
Thanks for reading! Ahh...my feet. :headache:

Hooray for finally meeting Mickey! :woohoo:

Those Up characters are so cute! You definately need to see the movie. Warning tho, you may cry, I did!

Brown Derby is definately on my list of to-dos. That cheesecake looks devine!

I can't wait to see what you do while solo. :goodvibes
I am sure I will cry. I cry at everything these days. Commercials, movies, tv shows...everything.

Glad that you finally got to meet Mickey- and Sorcerer Mickey nonetheless! Great pic with you two.

The food at the Brown Derby looks delicious. I haven't been there in years! Somehow we always got the snobby waiters when we stopped going. I'd love to give it another chance... maybe someday.

Awww... sad that Jen's leaving. Hope the rest of the day is still fun though.
Yes, you should really give Brown Derby a second chance. The food is so very yummy.

The rest of the day was a very good day!

Awe! tear, tear So sad to see Jen leave.

Can't wait to hear about your solo day! :goodvibes
I was very sad to see Jen leave. When I really thought about being solo it overwhelmed me a little bit.

I am so glad you got to meet Mickey!!!!! What a wonderful way to end your adventure with Jen!!!! I hope they keep up that Snow White stuff in September.....Megan would LOVE to see it!
I am sure they will keep it out since the DVD isn't released until November. :thumbsup2

You should really see UP. It is a good movie, I like it a lot. Do you mean you have never seen ANY Mickey, or just not Sorcerer Mickey? I just met Sorcerer Mickey on my 5th trip, but I had met Mickey in many other outfits. It was sad to hear that you had to part with your friend, but at least you got to stay at Disney.
ANY Mickey. I'm a bad DISer. :rotfl:

I have to admit in all the years I've been going to Disney I've only gotten the Cowboy scene once.. maybe twice?? Isn't that funny?! And it is really strange when you get the different scence cause it's like "Wait.. what's happening... where's the gangster? Why is it all different?" LOVE the cobb salad- and it's quite refreshing on a hot day! :cloud9:
WOW you girls do not fool around on TSM.. look at those high scores! Any hidden tricks you can share to achieving a higher score so I can beat DH? LOL! The only thing I noticed is in one of the first ones theres a bumble bee that flies toward you and if you shoot it you get a bunch of points right in the beginning.
I just shoot the heck out of that game! I have no strategy. I am highly competitive though so in between every game I would glance down at Jen's score and then I would put my game face on! LOL.

Everytime you post pics from the Brown Derby...it makes me want to go there!!!

I was right...you saw Mickey AND Up Characters! Fun!!!

I was so sad as Jen walked away into the sunset :sad2: I know how lonely it is to be alone at DHS.
Well...go there already! :rotfl:

Hi there! I have spent the last 2 days reading your TR and I love it! I can't believe a dedicated Dis-er like yourself had never met Mickey before.
Looking forward to more!
Thanks for joining in! I know, I can't believe it either! I met Minnie though...does that count?

I am all caught up over here too. Sounds like you and Jen had lots of fun! Lots of yummy food and fun. Can't wait to see what you and your mom do!
We really did have a lot of fun together, Mom and I did too!

Your Mickey pic turned out really cute. I MUST try the Brown Derby! All of your food looked delicious! :thumbsup2 Sorry you had to witness some unDisney behavior. I was also Belle when I took the character test. I was super excited because she is my favorite princess hence my screen name.princess: I am sad to see Jen's part in the TR ending, but I am excited to see what you did next.
I was Belle in September....I must have turned evil since then. :rotfl2:

Yea for meeting Mickey!! Did you feel like some inner Disney part of yourself was completed when you met him?

Your meal at HBD sounds scrumptious. I love cheesecake, although the grapefruit cake sounds yummy too. I like CP's idea to order one of each!:thumbsup2

YOU Lady Tremain?! Never! I just about spit out my soda when I saw that. The only thing you have in common with the Evil Stepmother is the Lady in front of your name!!

Bye Jen.:sad1: I'm excited to see how you spent your solo time next.
I did feel complete. It was a little nerve wracking meeting the Big Cheese himself. ;)

Hehehe, I am so glad you don't think I am like Lady Tremaine!

I'm playing catch-up and will confess to using your links instead of reading through all the chit-chat that I normally love.

Despite the monsoon-like start to your MK evening, it sounds like you had a lovely night. How did you like the CRT dessert?

Bummer your feet are hurting you so badly!! I hope you find a solution before September

This was the second time I had that dessert and I didn't really like it either time. The center is pretty delicious but I dunno, something isn't quite right with it to make me drool over it. :confused3

When Jen left...I felt a little lost. I didn't know what to do with myself quite yet. So I took a few pictures of Pixar Place while I found my footing.

556121391_rdf9B-M.jpg

They were not very good pictures. I sat on a bench right outside of Pixar Place and called my Mom and Dad. Mom wasn't home but I talked to Dad for a few minutes, we talked weather, Jen leaving and Mom's excitement for her trip down. After the conversation I went to the restroom near Pixar Place. This gets the cleanest bathroom at Disney award. Seriously clean. Much better than my last restroom experience.

Dark clouds were rolling in...no rain yet but I wasn't going to let it bring me down.

I headed to One Man's Dream. All my pictures are out of order so please forgive me.

I was totally crushed when I read that...

556123036_Zz9Uc-M.jpg

I especially loved all of the Hollywood Studios memorabilia they had towards the theater since they are celebrating 20 years this year.

556130000_xbFKG-M.jpg

From opening day.

556129561_ScsoC-M.jpg

556129776_ezPUw-M.jpg

These are the attractions that were open on opening day...doesn't seem like a whole lot!

556130481_FqNTp-M.jpg

Shortly it was time to go into the theater. Even though I have seen this movie multiple times...I still watched it. It gets me everytime. I get teary when I think of everything Walt accomplished in his lifetime and what his legacy continues to accomplish. Just gives me warm fuzzies.

I wiped my tears and headed outside. No rain! WOO HOO! I was so excited to see the sun still out.

I decided to head over to redeem my Voyage of the Little Mermaid fastpass.

583499969_v9xyG-M.jpg

I was one of the last people they let into the holding area before you go into the theater.

I think this show is amazing. The puppetry is outstanding. I was in the front row..or maybe the second but very close so I never saw the "inner workings" if you will of the puppetry and it's simply AMAZING.

I had a wonderful time sitting there in the AC watching the story of Ariel, the mermaid of my childhood. I was 7 when Little Mermaid came out, I remember that Mom always tried to get me different Disney movies then my twin cousins had. They had Little Mermaid...I had Beauty & The Beast...I had Aladdin...They had Sleeping Beauty...you get the idea. So we were well rounded Disney fans between our two houses. My cousins would get sick of me wanting to watch The Little Mermaid everytime I slept over, which was quite a bit when I was little. I remember that my grandmother (the Ursula one, she raised my cousins) would let me pick the movie at night and I'd ALWAYS pick The Little Mermaid. I'd stay awake watching until the end, my cousins falling asleep while I was sniffling at the end when Triton turns Ariel human. I couldn't fathom being away from my Daddy like that when I was a little girl! Ahh..memories. That is why I love this show, it brings me back to my little girl self. Moving on from the trip down Memory Lane...

After the show, I checked out the gift shop that is around the corner. I was looking for pins and my traditional trip stuffed animal. Nothing was really calling my name so I moved on.

I decided that I wanted to go see my friends the Muppets. I made my way through the park slowly. Giggled at the people posing at the American Idol background, screaming that they were going to Hollywood.

I peeked into the "Writer's Stop"...I think that is what it is called. It's a little bakery/gift shop place. Nothing really grabbed my attention there so I pushed on toward the Muppet Area.

556132548_xsGzj-M.jpg

I made my way inside, grabbed my cute pink 3D glasses and waited for the next show to start. I was a little sad when I thought that I had no one to take a picture of me in my cute glasses, that is one of my favorites of myself from my September trip.

Shortly we were let into the theater and I found a seat. There were some obnoxious people behind me but I tried to ignore them. I had a wonderful visit with the muppets and afterward I checked out their gift shop.

556133732_DCKeu-M.jpg

I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do next, so I sat outside Pizza Planet and called Mom back. She had been out running errands and would be home now. We had a nice chat and I felt like I was in my Solo Disney Groove. Hollywood Studios just makes me happy. It's a small park, I don't get overwhelmed and I feel like an Hollywood Starlet while I am there. If you put Soarin' over at DHS, then I would say it would be my second favorite park hands down. As it is...it's very very close with Epcot.

After my chat, I decided to head back to the front of the park by way of Indiana Jones. Still not sure what I wanted to do next but figured I could think and walk.

556134763_ybDCv-M.jpg

556134485_5QVdG-M.jpg

And right after this picture........

The raindrops came falling down. UGH! I had been thinking about sticking around for a bit longer just to take more pictures and to meet some characters but I was over rain. I made a beeline for the front of the park and over to the ASMu bus line. I think this was one of the stops that was combined with all of the All Stars. I made to the bus shelter before it started to really pour. The bus was loading as I got there but I wasn't able to make it on. The second bus was there shortly, maybe 10 minutes if that.

I had to stand on the way back to the resort and this was when I really started to feel my feet pain. They hurt. I got back to ASMu and bought some supplies for my feet, a trashy magazine, a reusable shopping bag and some soda. Then I went to the food court and ordered some chicken fingers to go, I love their handy to go dishes and some cheesecake.

By the time I did all of this, it was DOWNPOURING outside and I had to walk all the way to the Broadway Section. I pulled out my umbrella and walked kinda on the outside of the buildings, so not straight down the middle path by the big pool if that makes sense. I was able to skirt the buildings, get closer to mine and avoid the gusty rain wind.

I settled in my room, thinking I might go swimming later that night. I knew one thing for sure, I wanted to rest my feet and stay out of the rain.

556135206_APeqh-M.jpg

They were delish! The duh moment I had of the night was that I bought cheesecake but not utensil to eat it with. I did a lovely crushing of the container in order to eat it. No way was I going out for a silly think like a spoon!

I watched some TV, relaxed, soaked my feet again and just enjoyed myself. Even though I wasn't in a park and I didn't go swimming, I really enjoyed my night in.

I formulated my plan for the next day...I was going to have a leisurely morning and head to Magic Kingdom mid-afternoon so I could stay for Spectromagic that night. I really wanted to rest my feet some so that I could be ready to go when Mom arrived on Wednesday.

It sounds like you had a good time, even by yourself. I love the Muppet ride. I was such a fan of theirs when I was a kid - that's the ride that sends me back, much like the Little Mermaid does for you. :goodvibes

Your plan for the next day sounds great - exactly the kind of thing I'd like to do. I'm looking forward to next summer, when I maybe will have a chance to do a leisurely morning before Spectro!!

Yea a LL before I go to bed. So glad you enjoyed your Post- Jen time at DHS. I like HS a lot, and I like its size... you can zig and zag and survive!

LL:

Where was that last picture at HS taken? Sorry - for some reason I could not get it to copy.

I love what you did during your solo afternoon. It is a weird feeling to be solo, but in such a good way. The freedom can be exhilirating.

I have never seen the voyage of the little mermaid, but perhaps I should because I really enjoy puppets. I also love OMD and it gets me teary-eyed everytime I watch it, too. I love that you took so many nice pictures. We had to rush through it cause the movies was starting.

I also love your muppet pictures - outstanding!

LL, glad you enjoyed your solo time at DHS before the rain! I know you love Julie Andrews so I am sure you already know that she and Tony Walton were married at one point -- I did not realize that he had designed her Jolly Holliday dress until I read your update -- I wish Charles could design super fabulous clothing for me! :lmao:

I used to watch Muppet Babies a lot growing up, does anyone else remember that show? Then I started getting into the Muppet Movies and then the Muppet Show.

I was very much looking forward to my Spectro night at MK. :thumbsup2

That is just it, it's so easy to do the whole park and not feel completely exhausted which is just what my poor feet needed that day.

That picture was taken over near the area that has the statues of famous people, kinda near American Idol. I thought it was a cute little background, very pretty.

The freedom was exhilarating but it did feel a bit weird until I hit my solo groove.

Yes, I did know that. Walt actually enticed Julie Andrews into Mary Poppins by offering Tony a costume designing position on the movie. I think he did most everything if I am not mistaken. I wish Marc could do that too! Wouldn't that be amazing? :rotfl2:

I'm glad you got to enjoy some attractions at DHS before the rain began. Great start to your solo adventure.:)

Just got these last updates read.... Brown Derby again looked great! I am thinking I will go for this one in Dec... I remember it being very good! That strawberry cheesecake DOES look good!:thumbsup2

Glad you got to ride TSM together!

It is nice to have some down time, I am sure that evening in was a good strategy for taking your time and getting ready for your mom... how fun! I can't wait to hear about that!

A lot of updates this week! :thumbsup2

That's the first time I've seen pictures of the characters from Up - cool!

Glad you both got your cowboy and gangster. :goodvibes

Sad to see Jen go, but I'm loving hearing about your solo time. I think it would be cool to be there alone and do what you want - for a little bit anyway.

Sounds like a nice relaxing afternoon in DHS! I feel the same way about that park...nearly tied for second place. You are right, there is something about it being smaller that makes you feel like you can take your time a little more.

I found your thoughts on Little Mermaid interesting. I was 16 when that movie came out and for me, it was all about the romance. Now as a parent, I probably feel the parent letting the child go thing more. I honestly never saw it as sad that Ariel was leaving her family (cause she had her man!) Funny that 9 years between us can make such a difference in outlook

I probably could have stuck it out for a bit longer but I didn't want to have to wait forever for a bus in the rain. I was happy to miss most of it.

Brown Derby is delightful, such a great place to relax too.

I was very happy for my relaxing evening.

A lot of updates this week! :thumbsup2

The characters from Up are very cute, I wish I had gone back to see them.

That's so funny. I think my little girl self couldn't fathom loving someone enough to leave my family. As I got old I saw more of the romance. :goodvibes

Did you all know that DHS (when it was MGM) used to have a Hidden Mickey built into the actual park? You can see it here in this park map-center but upside down. It was visible from the sky -Echo Lake is one ear....the other ear was sort of painted on the roofs of buildings. And you could see it on early park maps. Sadly all you can see now on the maps is part of Mickey's mouth and nose.

All caught up! Some great eats LL! You have introduced to some new snacks I must try in Oct. :popcorn The corn dog nuggets and cream cheese pretzel look very yummy. So sorry about the rain and your feet hurting but it looks like you made the best of it. :goodvibes

That is one very cool piece of Disney trivia and I would love to have one of those maps! You really do learn something new everyday on the DIS!

What a great solo afternoon/evening. Glad you found your groove! :)

TSM is so much fun, isn't it? Although I've been through One Man's Dream twice before you got pics of some things I haven't seen. I am so looking forward to exploring it more carefully this trip. And capping it off with dinner at Brown Derby. :cloud9:

Oh, my friends the Muppets. How I :lovestruc them. That's another area I want to really explore this time. And see the WHOLE pre-show. And find the key under the map. See the net full of jello. :lmao:

SO very sorry your feet gave you such trouble. I hate having to stand on the bus at the end of a long day. :sad2: I know you are planning lots of blister preventatives for your next trip-- I wonder if it was all the rain that exacerbated the issues? :confused3 Hopefully we won't have that to contend with in Sept/Oct!

You did great on your own! I'm glad you finally got to talk to your mom on the phone!
It seems to me that the rain forced you to give your feet some much needed rest!
