VWL Owners being ripped off

I'm not a complainer but I thought I would share some information with owners at the Wilderness Lodge Villas. I'm an SSR owner who is currently staying here at VWL and have encountered several maintenance issues. I'm on the 8th day of my vacation and have reported these problems 4 times at the front desk but nothing has been done. The washer in the Villas public laundry room has a severe water leak which leaves an inch of water on the entire laundry room floor, two out of four dryers in the laundry room are broken, the swinging exit door on the Villas building has a handicapped button to push which automatically opens the door for you but it's broken, two of the three eliptical machines in the Sturdy Branches fitness center are broken and not functioning. It looks like DVC is not using your maintenance fees to maintain the resort in a proper manner. I'm getting ready to call MS with my concerns and will post a follow up here soon.

Yikes, we're staying at VWL in a month. Hope things begin to be improved.

Don't report these kind of problems to the front desk. Call Maintenance.

I am beginning to think they took our dues to build the new offices for DVC. :rolleyes1

wo of the three eliptical machines in the Sturdy Branches fitness center are broken and not functioning.
We were there in mid May and one of them was completely broken, and a second barely worked. The third was a bit tired, but functioned okay.

I really hope these problems are addressed.

We were there in March and everything was wonderful in the villas. In fact everything looked recently refurbished.

I didn't however, use the laundry facilities as we were in a two-bedroom. My son used the Sturdy Branches but the machines must have been working then.

Maintenance should be attending to the issues.

We have stayed at VWL a few times and really loved. I'm sure these issues will get fixed quickly. It is one of our favourite resorts.

Makes you wonder if some of this stuff is due to Disney's downsizing of staff.

Ya know, that very well might be a part of these types of issues.
I know that my workplace severely downsized earlier this year. While the overall workload has decreased due to the economy, the cuts were so drastic that it is hard for my staff to keep up. There are lots of times where things just have to be put on the back burner or don't get done at all. The priority has to always be on the immediate need items which take up most of the available time. Of course, my Corporate office doesn't quite "get it" when it comes to life down here in the trenches! They could care less if you don't have the staff - just get it done. But I digressed.....

Cutbacks, depending on how deep they are, can always impact service to varying degrees! I hate to see WDW get to that point. If the "magic" begins to fade, how can that be good long term??

I hate being in this economy!
:sad2:

I fail to see why service should be affected at DVC resorts. Our dues are guaranteed income for maintenance, not dependent in any way on the economic down turn. There should be no excuse for unaddressed maintenance problems at VWL or any DVC.

I love the title...
"Let's create a stir on the DIS boards"

And of course based on ONE report we have posters (A) panicing (B) considering changing thier reservations and (C) blaming Disney for all kinds of sins... Hmmm.

Unless, due to the economy, fewer people are actually paying their dues. That would mean less money came in then axpected and I can imagine that would make an impact at some point.

Actually a second person confirmed the problems with the fitness equipment.

I'm not a DVC owner, but that's unacceptable considering how people are paying annual fees for the maintenance of their resort.

Isn't Sturdy Branches shared between VWL and WL?? WL should be paying a larger share since they have more rooms that VWL.

It also means that if the resorts are cutting back, DVCers at those shared resorts are going to feel the effect of "we are choosing not to repair fitness equipment, we are going to staff front desk at minimal levels." Unless DVC wants to start picking up more than their share so that CRO guests can have working ellipticals, too.

And I suspect that DVC is seeing a large decrease in dues collection. There are probably a lot of people sitting on overdue dues right now. There are probably a lot of points owned by Disney due to foreclosure and non-payment. And then we are also complaining when they try and create revenue for those points because $164 is "too low" for SSR.

why didnt you type what you mean instead of the sarcasm, if you are implying this cant be true, tell us why

Last fall the entire 3rd floor was rehabed. Saw if for myself. I took the stairs and go off on the 3rd floor and saw everything stripped out of the rooms. Clear down to the carpet and new mattresses. So they are keep up with things

So what ever became of this? Did it get resolved?

Anyone seen the VWL laundry room this week. Is there an inch of water on the floor, etc?
