So a little about us, here's a pic from our recent trip:
IMG_0304.jpg

We've been together for 6 years now ~ wow, that seems like such a long time but it has really flown by! We met while I was still in school and doing an internship, and it was probably four months before he ever really talked to me! I actually thought that he disliked me, and I thought it didn't make sense that he would dislike me for no reason because he was such a nice guy! Some of my coworkers tipped me off that Ryan did like me and we exchanged numbers before my last day. We started out sending each other a bunch of text messages and eventually went out on our first date.

And of course our first trip as a couple was in 2005 to Disney! We stayed in WL and had the best time. That was when Ryan realized that Disney wasn't just for kids! We went back in 2008 and stayed at AKL which was awesome and we just got back from our stay at the Grand Floridian and the best Disney trip yet! I think this last trip Ryan realized that he loved Disney almost as much as I do!

The proposal~ June 13, 2009

IMG_0137.jpg

On our first day at Disney Ryan had planned for us to have dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. We had an awesome meal, I love the Castle! After we finished our main meal our waiter came to the table with a covered plate and said:

"Your prince has ordered a special dessert for you", and lifted the lid to reveal a glass slipper on a bed of rose petals. He placed the plate on the table and I saw in the glass slipper was my beautiful ring on a rosebud! Now, I may write about this calmly now, but basically as soon as I saw the waiter with the plate I knew it was going to happen and started crying. Then Ryan started to tear up a little too. :lovestruc

He got down on his knee - in front of the whole restaurant - he was so nervous with everyone watching, I was too! - and asked me to marry him, of course I said yes! And everyone clapped and congratulated us!

This is kind of what it looked like (recreated by me later that night while Ryan went searching for our luggage)

and on my hand:
IMG_0147.jpg

Afterwards the photopass photographer took some more pics of us, we had a champagne toast and they brought us out the glass slipper desserts. These were soo good!
IMG_0146.jpg

We had a great night in Magic Kingdom, and eventually called everyone. They were all really excited!

It was really so perfect since I love Disney so much and I love the Magic Kingdom most of all. I'm also so glad to actually have pictures of the proposal, luckily I did a photopass share this year! :thumbsup2 I'll post some of those pics when I get the cd. I also loved that it happened in the beginning of the trip and it was just us, so we had all week to enjoy being engaged before coming home to the millions of questions! :rotfl:

We have finally decided on a Disney wedding :woohoo:, or should I say Ryan finally agreed to a Disney wedding since I decided a long time ago! :lmao:. He loves Disney too but was worried about people not coming and I guess always wanted a big wedding. I have dreamed of a Disney wedding since I was about 11-12 years old and read a magazine article and found out it was even possible to have a Disney Wedding! :lovestruc

We thought it would be so fun since we can share something that we love so much with the people we care the most about. I also like that we'll have a few days to really spend with our guests. And of course now that we got engaged there Disney is even more special to us.

There are also financial reasons, which I think is what finally won Ryan over. Where we live basically everyone has a crazy huge wedding. The average cost of a typical wedding here is crazy! :scared1: Since we're paying for the wedding, a Disney wedding is actually more cost effective for us. Wow, it's not often that the thing I want is the most cost effective option! :rotfl2: But he couldn't argue the math, for less than half the price we could have a spectacular wedding versus a typical wedding at home.

So the details so far ~

Date: Tuesday, August 17, 2010 - it had to be in the summer so that our guests could come. I like that it's on a Tuesday (minimums are cheaper!) but our guests can arrive on Saturday and then we'll have a few days for pre-wedding activities. We'll probably spend the rest of the week at Disney with any guests that are still there.

Ceremony: Disney's Wedding Pavillion (late afternoon). I wasn't so set on it until I saw it in person. It was seriously so beautiful I started tearing up and knew that was where I wanted to get married. Plus there's the Castle in the window and we all know how special the castle is to us!

IMG_0395.jpg

Reception: I wanted Whitehall room, but I think we have too many people (our guest list is 75). So we're going to have the pre-reception on Whitehall patio and reception in a GF ballroom. If Whitehall gets booked up we'll do the pre-reception at the Summer House. And of course Wishes Dessert party at Sago Cay. We love the GF and Ryan really wants to have the reception there.
IMG_0400.jpg

Honeymoon: Right now we're thinking Hawaii. Just not sure if we will go right from Disney or go home first and fly out from there, or go a few weeks later.

Photography: The Roots, I'm superexcited that they are free the day we want. We did an enagement session with them and loved them. I love them even more now that I've seen the pics!

Cosmotolgy: Ana from Beaute Speciale, She did my make-up for my engagement shoot and I thought it turned out awesome.

Bridesmaid dresses: I'm thinking charcol grey, and tea length, with the coordinating color being lavender.

That's all for now. Still have to finish the "Will You Be My Bridesmaid" cards (my very first wedding craft project:goodvibes). I also got the girls a tea bag rest when we were at the GF, it's shaped like a teapot and has an Alice in Wonderland design on it. I bought the Wonderland tea too and will probably give each one of those as well. But I'll post pics of the finished product.

We also have to officially tell the families about our date and location, hopefully everyone will be fine with it!

Welcome and congrats!! :goodvibes I love all your plans so far! Your proposal story is so sweet! Looking forward to following along! popcorn::

Oh congratulations and Welcome!! We are also doing Wedding Pavillion, Whitehall room/patio and Sago Cay!! Can't wait to read more. Do you have a dress yet?

Aww thanks! I stopped by your PJ too, love all your plans, and I love the colors you picked. I thought about a dark purple like that, but when we were in Disney I saw a bridal party in dark gray and loved it, so that's how I decided on that!

Thanks do much! I really wanted the Whitehall room for the reception since I'm not too crazy about the regular ballrooms, but we have too many people. So I'm hoping a lot won't come :lmao:. That will also leave me extra money in the budget for fun things like confetti cannons!

I don't have a dress yet, we just got engaged on June 13, 2009, so it hasn't quite been a month yet and I've been doing WW for a while so figured I'd wait a little longer for the dress shopping. I may stop into a shop on a whim, but probably real dress shopping will be in August, my best friend is coming up from Charlotte and I have the week off from work. :cool1:

I love Maggie Sottero dresses though, particularly this one:
http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?line=m&page=11&style=J1209

I'm not sure how I feel about the bubble hem though, so I want to see it in person. I'm not too into beading and lace, a little is good but I really like when there is draping or ruching.

Congrats on your engagement! That is such a cute proposal.

I loved your engagement shots and had to check out your PJ. You have the same BM dress I was going to go with, I love that dress!

Can't wait to read more.

Oh that dress is so pretty!! I hear you about the bubble hem. I think it's cute, but not sure about on a wedding dress. You'll have to try it on ;)

Congratulations! Everything looks great so far! Your photos are gorgeous, you make an adorable couple! I think Hawaii is a great choice for a honeymoon, that is where we are going (three weeks tomorrow in fact!):goodvibes

Thanks! Yeah DF brags about how his proposal blows all of our friend's proposals out of the water! :lmao: I did have to wait a long time for it, but it was totally worth it! I was so happy with how the pics turned out, and the Roots are available for our tentative date, so hoping everything goes according to plan. I think that dress is so cute and from what the website says the price is good too, since everyone is traveling I want to keep the price of the dresses as low as possible. There are a few other styles I like too, but they are also Alfred Angelo. I felt like I hit the BM jackpot when I found that site! I was having a tough time finding tea length dresses in the color I wanted

I love it too, if only it was just a regular hem. I am only 5'2" so any dress is going to be super long on me, so I figure I could probably have it hemmed to take out the bubble if I love the dress but don't like that part. I definitely just have to try it on.

Howdy!
Congratulations on your engagement!

It's funny because we probably made all of these decisions this week, before that I was getting really stressed out! Thanks so much! I love the photos too and the Roots and Ana sure did work their magic because we don't look that good on a normal basis :rotfl2:.

Aww congrats! I hope you do a trip report and post tons of pics! We're really excited to go to Hawaii, I love that there are so may things to do, and you can also do nothing at all if you want. We just figured if we don't go now, when would we go? I wish the Disney Hawaii resort was going to be open in time, but am super excited Harry Potter world will be open when we have our wedding!

Congrats and welcome! your engagement story was soo sweet! and you were a disney a week before we were! looking forward to reading all about yourn wedding planning adventure!!

Thanks! Yeah DF did a good job! Cool, was it crazy hot when you were there too? Oh man, it sure is an adventure, this wedding planning stuff is stressful!

So I officially finished my first wedding craft, the "Will you by my..." cards, they did take a while to make but I was really happy with how they turned out. And I think they sold me on my color scheme. I think it will be gray, with accents of lavender and I think I will use green as a second coordinating color.

I found a really cute stamp kit at AC Moore and that gave me the idea. Then I just found papers I liked and blank cards.

I haven't sent them out yet...soo shhhh don't tell them :rotfl:

Here's what they look like:
IMG_0539.jpg

For the Flower girl and Ring bearer they are brother and sister so I figured I could get away with one card
IMG_0543.jpg

And the Matron of Honor cards look like this:
IMG_0544.jpg

Here's the little trinket I'm going to mail with it, I got them in Sandy Cove at the Grand Floridian on our trip.
IMG_0537.jpg

I showed some of my co-workers and they were like "oh you should make your own invitations". Yeah right, it took me forever to make 6 cards, I can't imagine if I had to make 50! :lmao:

But I figure with everything that they're going to do for me, I wanted to ask them in a special way. :cutie:

welcome and congrats! love your plans so far looking forward to hearing more! The cards are very cute! you did a great job.:goodvibes

OMG, those are so cute! You did an awesome job.

Those are awesome! Great job!

Those are so cute! Nice job!!

Thanks guys! :goodvibesI was originally going to use stickers but couldn't find any I liked, then I saw the stamps. They were pretty easy to make, just time consuming, and I lost motivation for a while, so they were half made for like a week. Plus my cat was very interested in the stamps, so it was hard to sit down and finish them. :lmao:

welcome and congrats! love your plans so far looking forward to hearing more! The cards are very cute! you did a great job.:goodvibes

Thanks so much! It's all coming together slowly but surely. I'm very happy with how the cards came out too. :cutie:

Thanks! Yeah DF did a good job! Cool, was it crazy hot when you were there too? Oh man, it sure is an adventure, this wedding planning stuff is stressful!

It was crazy hot! they had Heat Warnings!! :headache:
but im having fun with the wedding planning! im soooo excited! but i love your "will you" cards. i made mine too. it was lots of fun, but very time consuming!

So since I last posted, let's see....

I think I figured out our reception dilemma. See, DF wants a nighttime reception like everyone has back at home. So that meant either a 2:30, 5:00 or 7:30 reception. We also wanted to have a dessert party, but it's surprisingly hard to fit it in!

After many questions to my WC and so many options I think I lost my mind a little, we decided to stick with a 5:00 pm ceremony and extend our reception by an hour. So here's the Wedding Day plan:

5-6 - ceremony / pics / etc at Wedding Pavilion
6-7 - cocktail hour
7-9:30 - dinner / dances / cake
9:30 - 10:30 - Wishes DP at Sago Cay
10:30 - 12 am - back to ballroom for dancing

We do lose an hour with the DJ, but we're considering maybe doing an ipod setup, Ryan has a few friends that love to play DJ. I just don't know if that might be imposing on them, and I'm sure they will bring a date, so that probably wouldn't be much fun for the date.

We figured with the 2:30 ceremony, even though we are using all the reception hours, it might be way too long and then we have to extend photography and bar service, so it will end up costing us way more anyway.

I also told my WC that I prefer the St. Augustine Room (we'd have AB or CD) to the GF Ballroom, since we'd only get the three narrow rooms at the end, and I like how St. Augustine seems more spacious looking because it's wider.

I really am a little sad about not being able to have the reception in Whitehall, I think that room is so pretty and love all the windows. DF says, why do you need windows, it's night time, but I still want them. We hope to have the pre-reception there, so that's at least something. I also really like the look of the BW and YC ballrooms better, but it just doesn't really fit with our plans and timing. I'm the ones at the GF will be fine, and we really love the resort and how all the wedding activities will be in kinda the same place. Why didn't we tour locations on our trip?! I regret not doing that now.

But Ryan said we could go for a Planning Session! So I'm very excited about that because it seems like so much fun! :)

We booked the Roots, I sent the check today, so it's official. :goodvibes

Found some Save the Dates I liked, they are magnets and you can customize the colors, now to pick out a picture from the 372 that the Roots took. :headache:

I've stared to do a newsletter, some wonderful disbrides were kind enough to give me their templates but I'm being so lazy lately! I figure I have about a month since we'll send them out with the Save the Dates, but I won't order those until we officially get our ceremony date and time from Disney. Here's hoping we get what we want, I'm trying not to stress about that part!

I have two BM's so far and I'm pretty sure a ringbearer and flower girl! I send out the rest of the cards tomorrow, but I gave my sisters theirs. My Aunt also said that they wouldn't miss the wedding for anything and it's her kids that I want to be the RB and FG so it's looking good. :thumbsup2

I'm also glad to say that our families have been great about our decision to have the wedding at Disney! I was a little nervous at what the reactions would be but everyone is really excited! Only problem is the guest list is kind of spiraling out of control, and it seems like we'll have closer to 85 than 75! And there are still a few other "under considerations". Seems I may not be able to get those confetti cannons or lit-up ficus trees after all. :sad1: I guess if most people do decide to come I have to look on the bright-side that there are so many people that want to come to our wedding...but then...is it me they want to see....or a certain Mouse! :lmao:

Plan to go dress shopping this weekend (and dragging my sis along, I have to watch her while my parents and other siblings go on vacation, she didn't want to go, so she has no choice! mwah ha ha!). So hopefully I will know if I like the Maggie Sottero Yara dress and if I like the BM's dresses in person.
