WDW Mickey D's

We drove by a free standing McDonald's on our way from Coronado Springs to Fantasia miniature golf. It looked really cool and over the top "disneyish" from the outside. What's it like inside as compared to your regular, run of the mill Mickey D's at home?? We'll be arriving around 11:00 am for check in at OKW, and I thought we could grab a quick bite and then check-in for our room if it's ready, and hang out at the pool even if it isn't. I don't want to waste time at Olivia's since it's a sit down restaurant, and I don't want to sit outside and eat at the counter service. Any thoughts??

I haven't been in a few years but I think I remember a little larger menu with extra items. I remember pizza on it then. However, I do remember it's more expensive than a regular Mickey D's.

Thanks for that information! Was the interior like a normal McDonald's or was it more "souped up"?

I don't know when you drove by there but they have totally renovated that McDonalds recently - it no longer has giant food "characters" outside and has been given a more "modern" look. You'd probably need a response from someone who has been there since the renovation.

Wow... good to know! We drove by there in Sept. '08. A lot can change in a short amount of time! Yes please-- anyone been there since the changes???

I'm just curious on how you passed a McDonald's going from Coronado Springs to Fantasia. The McDonald's near the All Stars is the opposite way from Coronado Springs than Fantasia miniature golf.

I have absolutely no idea. We usually use Disney transportation, so I don't pay a bit of attention on how to get from one place to another. My DH was driving to miniature golf and we were staying at Coronado at the time. That's the only place we drove, so I'm sure that was what we did. I seem to recall turning left out of the resort and then maybe turning right at the McDonald's intersection?? :confused3

Here is a link to pictures of that Mcdonald's location.

Thanks so much for this link. It's exactly the info I was looking for. I am disappointed that the classic, larger than life McD's characters and the Disney cartoon on the big screen are gone. This newer McDonald's could be plopped down anywhere and fit right in. I liked the Disney one since it was specific to the fun-oriented environment and it couldn't be found elsewhere-- at least by me. Oh well-- such are the wheels of progress I guess!

Still, disappointment aside, it will still be a quick lunch alternative on our arrival day!

You're welcome and have fun going there.

I've been since the renovation and I prefer the old version. I miss the Disney cartoons and the pics of McD's from other countries. The section with TV's is a good addition but it only seats a small number of people. They don't have anything special on the menu, just the usual McD's fare.
It's a good option though and cheap. It's true that it is slightly more expensive then the usual McD's but less expensive than any CS in Disney!

The part about passing McD's being impossible if you're heading towards a certain place makes me laugh. If you're like me you tend to go the opposite way when driving around WDW. It's OK, I enjoy driving through the area. :)

I wanted to comment that Downtown Disney has a McD's too and I normally let DS get his McD's fix there. It has drink fountains that make some interesting noises - I wonder if the other locations has those too?
