Just called DD and they said that Ohana's has no openings for September 27,28, or 29th.. I thought this was a downtime at disney. How come I can't get into my favorite restaurant over 2 months beforehand?

Oh no. The main reason we are going is because of Ohana's. Is it going to be impossible to eat there now??

I will be there with the family the last week in Sept., but not on the Free Dining plan. We are doing the military special pricing....and you can't get the dining with that. Wah!!!

And I can get nothing for Chef Mickey's character breakfast or 1900 Park ....nothing at all available for a party of 4 during that time!!! I even called them to see if they could find me something...nope

Free dining makes all the restaurants busier, and the popular ones extremely busy.

I believe you CAN get a dining plan - QS or basic only, not the deluxe, if I remember correctly - with the military room discount offer - but paid dining, not free.

I have had the same problem! But, my question is: will the crowds correspond with the problems getting ressies or will it be the same crowd wise, just more people eating TS meals?

We went the week before thanksgiving last year and had no wait time on any rides. I'm scared about this trip! we got spoiled last trip!!

Cheshire Cat-

You can't get free dining, but you can get reduced dining. Like the rooms you can get 40% off the dining plan as well. Not sure if that interests you...but it's available! We're going in late November and we got 40% off the room and 40% off the DDP.:)

I was able to get 'Ohana for the 29th at 5pm, no problem. But I got online at 6am exactly on 90 days (I arrive the 26th). I couldn't get the 27th though. Definitely the reason is free dining.

any chance I can hope for a cancellation or are they rare?? Also where can I find like a poll or list of the top restaurants at disney?

Well we are going to Disneyworld to celebrate our kids and my sister's kids adoptions and of course we have to eat at Ohana cause that means family, and there were NOOOOOO openings! Finally one came open at 9 at night!!! So someone helped me split our group and get two tables. Its crazy!

Are you sure about this? We are also going on the military special, but have not heard anything about the DDP also being discounted 40%. Would love to find that out!

A CM told me a couple of weeks ago to call right after you hit the 45 day window. That's when alot of people end up having to cancel.

It's impossible. Unless you did it on your 90 day mark you won't find anything.

I called on my 90 day mark for all my ressies got everything i wanted except ohana. The entire week was booked for dinner! This is the end of Sept and beg of oct. I called back about 15 minutes later for something else and for the heck of it had them check for ohana and BAM they had one at 5pm on our last night there. So we rearranged a bit and took it. I've been checking every day to see if there is a cancellation for a later time, but nothing so far.

It's only going to mean the restaurants will be crowded. But supposedly it doesn't affect the park crowds.

This Oct we are eating at Ohana for the first time and could only score a 9:35 adr. I sure hope it's worth it.

I've experienced the same issues with Ohana during the first week in OCT. Kind of a bummer.

I'm in the same boat as you we were also there the week before Thanksgiving and it was wonderful, our best WDW trip yet. The crowds were so light, and I was under the impression that Sept. would be the same way, but now I am FREEKING:scared1: out. We will be there 9-19 - 9-27 and a friend of ours wanted to join us. She called last week to book and to our surprise no value or mods are avaiable for that week. Only deluxe:confused3 which she cannot afford.:sad2: So it looks like no WDW for her family at that time. What is going on... I very afraid we chose the wrong time to go:confused:

Keep trying for your ADR's. We are staying offsite for part of our stay and really wanted MBYBQ. I knew each date was fully booked prior to my 90 day mark by people staying onsite with access to the +10. But checking online, today I was lucky. Someone cancelled. Woohoo. Just keep checking.
