Computer in the owner's locker?

I am considering this owner's locker thing and one of the things I keep thinking about is leaving a notebook computer in it so I don't have to haul one down there so often.

It is not really good for the computer but the one I am thinking of taking is old and not worth much anymore.

Has anyone done this?

Considering I replace my notebooks every 18 months, doubtful I'd ever have a purpose to leaving one down there. Additionally, I'd have to take all my work files with me as the files on the notebook down there would be outdated (never the less security patches, etc.)

Two things always travel with me, my notebook and my BlackBerry, and neither are that much of an inconvenience to travel with (I have a tablet notebook, its small, full function with video).

Updating would take a few moments but all of my work files are accessible through a VPN.

Lots of our Members leave their old laptop in their Locker when they get a new one. Same thing with cameras. Some even buy a laptop just for their Locker because the don't want to deal with security.

You might also want to consider storing a wireless access point so you don't have to fool with cables...also let's more than one person use the internet.

We always take a WAP with us because the cables are often in annoying places.

The wife and I were talking about the OL at lunch today. We started off a few weeks ago talking about how nice it would be to leave laundry detergent and now I am wondering if we will get by with only one locker. Funny how that works.

Is it unusual for someone to have more than one?

You know I WOULD leave my old laptop in there if I had room for it, but I have to sit on my locker to get it closed as it is!:lmao: Do I see number 2 in my future too?:goodvibes

rowbear, I think one of our biggest surprises is the number of Members with multiple Lockers. New members almost always say that the Locker is bigger than they expected but with the airlines being silly these days.....

Yes! This is a great idea! My old Dell is sitting in the closet. I can schlepp it down in August and leave it there! I won't even know it is gone!

Ok. Next question. If I were on vacation and decided I needed a second one how quickly could I get it so I would not have to ship back all the stuff I shipped down to myself? I plan to ramp up between two visits so I will not ship board games on the first run but my wife tells me my list is already too long without the board games or the computer.

A bunch of the stuff is small like lighters, candles, cigar cutters, etc. But we want to bring a small electric skillet, towels, card games, booze, laundry detergent, water filter, and a number of normal sized toiletry items.

It would be great to have a normal size bottle of mouthwash instead of rationing myself all week. At home I probably use mouthwash 5 times a day (I am crazy OCD about my teeth and breath). I am probably the only person on the planet that was told by his dentist that he should floss LESS. :upsidedow

No, it is PERFECTLY NORMAL AND REASONABLE AND RATIONAL. *ahem*

OK everybody, I had my DW convinced that two lockers was not common, so cut it out. I know where this is heading. :rolleyes1

We took the Owner's Locker plunge during a trip a few years ago. I signed us up from my laptop while sitting on the balcony of our SSR room with my breakfast. The locker was delivered the next morning.

Excellent. Now I can ship what I really want and if it doesn't all fit I can just get two.

I still have to think about the computer thing so I may not try to handle that in November. The problem with that old notebook is that it is wireless only as the ethernet port died a few years ago. That makes me a little nervous if I had to rely on it. I may just get a refurbed notebook from dell and take it instead.

My wife is going to kill me if I say any more about the mouthwash. She is beginning to believe that my sole purpose for the OL is to have a big bottle of mouthwash. She might be right. Taking all of those little bottles and panicking over not having enough for the entire trip keeps me on edge.

STOP!! STOP!! STOP!!

I just ordered my first OL yesterday and have been making a list of what to put in there. (The clincher in getting one for us was DS has Celiac Disease and needs to have his own toaster for Gluten Free breads. I thought, what a better way to always have one at WDW than an OL.)

Now you all go and mention all of these other things I would love to put in there--laptop, board games, pool toys. Good grief!

Okay, I was trying not to say anything about you and your mouthwash, but I have been ROTFLMAO since I read your first post about it! Seriously! You are too funny! I'm sure your DW doesn't see it that way though! Do they have a self-help group for Mouthwash Addicts--you know something like MA--my name is rowbear and I am an addict!

Yes. The ninth step is to make amends to all the people I have subjected to my surprisingly minty breath.

Oh and if you think the mouthwash thing is bad... it is nothing compared to flossing. I keep dental floss around me at all times. I once had an FWI accident (flossing while intoxicated)... hurt for days.
