A peek at the Pembe Savanna

There's a fence between the pool at Kidani and the Pembe savanna while it's under construction, but I held up my camera to get a couple of shots of what it looks like so far. Not very exciting, but I know you all are a curious bunch....

I wonder if guests can access the walkway that seems to be in front of the building? If so I guess there aren't going to be any Giraffee on the Pembe?! That will be very cool if you can walk there and it should provide great viewing!

You are correct -- no giraffes on the Pembe Savanna according to the animal care CMs we talked to last year. There are supposed to be some unique animals there, for example okapi and possibly some hornbills.

It looks like the Pembe Savanna will come right up to the pool area. We were wondering about that when we were there in early May. At that time no work had been done yet in that area so it wasn't clear if the savanna would extend that far. Based on your photos it looks like you might be able to see part of the Pembe Savanna from the hot tub at the pool!

That second picture looks like something out of Jurassic Park. That must be where they'll have the Velociraptors.

If you can see the animals while in the pool or hot tub, that will be very cool!
