Typing this on my iPhone so there may be mistakes. *
We arrived June 27th @ around 7 am then checked in. *We found a campsite that was perfect and vacant that we could go ahead and set up on but it was taken by one of those miserable people who just rent sites for the extras and we couldn't have it so we had to wait. *I know that's what it was becAuse the cm told me the people had checked in, picked up their room cards, and dining plan. *The site also sat vacant for the next 4 days which is how long I was told they had rented it for.
We waited until about 2 pm (the whole time knowing our site number) for someone to come clean it but no one ever showed. *Now I know the policy and they still had time but we had made a special request and let them know we were waiting. *So I went ahead and started setting up camp regardless. *My dad went to ask if he could at least have a broom to sweep the site himself; they told him no and not to come back. *Now he is not the most diplomatic person in the world but that was just rude. *I had made several runs through the campground through the day while waiting and only saw one cm cleaning sites way over in 1500 loop. *I think they cut personel to the point of not having enough and what's left isn't running on an empty magic tank. *
Secutity and CARTS: *major problems this year
1). Lots and lots (I saw at least 10) 12-14 year oldsters driving carts. *Actually the sad part was that most of them were driving better than the ones that had a driver license.
2). Lots of just absolute imature people or plain idiots driving carts. *Everything from driving loops the wrong way (day and night and also saw a several cars doing the same) to driving loops the wrong way at night with the headlights dark on the cart and kids walking/riding bikes. *My son even had a near miss with one of these.
We saw a lot of wild driving on them. *One example was while walking back from the boat. *A couple carts came down through, around the loop in front of the store, and back out at nearly full speed while people were walking up from the boat. *Even a Disney security guard had just walked past and down to the dock but either he didn't see or nothing was done. * * **
3). *We also saw at least 5-6 12-15 year olds driving water mice by themselves. *This is less of a problem for me though since they can't really hurt anyone but themselves and not much chance of that as long as they stay out away from the other boats. *It did worry me a bit though as a few of them came far too close to the back of the FW-MK ferry boat where I was standing. *There were several Boston whaler's out and about but they were letting them get away with murder compared to what they used to call me on.
**As to the security issues, *it was lacking in just a few ways. * *
I think they are going to have to start checking cards at the new pool. *I noticed a number of the large crowd at the pool on the 4th were comming-going from the outpost end. *While at meadows visiting the "John" a several (2-4, I couldn't tell exactly) came in and changed out of their swimming trunks and back into normal clothes. *
** * Later I saw a group get off the bus at outpost and leave toward the parking lot (bags of extra gear in hand). *Because of people comming in for the review at night and un-checked parking, it's very easy to do this.*
Even boat drivers complained to us about the number of boats running and told my parents to write in and complain. *This was before the monorail accident. *Before the talk cap was put on the cm's here a few talked to my parents and soar the boy had emailed friends and complained about working long hours. *One of the cm's (not saying who so as to not get them in trouble) was the mother of a supervisor ( not the right word again) who was "having a very bad day". *I feel sorry for the family and hope they are able to find out the truth. *My personal opinion is that it's the fault of the people cutting jobs.
** * All that said, we have had a great time and there were plenty of good experiences. *I can however see a negative impact on the Fort.
