HobNobbing with Nobby (A Gnome's 1st Trip to the World) FINAL Upt: 9/23 (P.48)

Chapter 17: “No Nobby, the Animals here don’t Eat Gnomes!”

Day 4 our trip revealed a gorgeous Sunday morning and Nobby and I got up bright and early to head over to rope drop at the Animal Kingdom. Being a Biology and Zoology teacher I have a special love for animals so I was really looking forward to this day. Nobby and I made it through security without too many weird looks and it was off to the turnstiles. Okay, so raise your hand if you seem to have this problem too…it would seem that it doesn’t matter which turnstile I choose I will inevitably be behind the one that will not work LOL…either way soon they were letting us in and it was off with the masses in search of the beloved Fast pass, but not before the morning opening show. I have to say I really like Animal Kingdom’s opening show, not as good as Magic Kingdom’s but it ranks up high…Mickey in his safari gear that is just priceless and we all know I love me some Goofy. Here are a few shots I was able to get over the heads of those ahead of me LOL!

DSCF1167.jpg

Then began the march to the Kilimanjaro Safari, of course only half of us when this way the rest headed towards EE. However I had a date with the single rider line so I was going to secure my FP for the Safari first! So once the FP were in my hand I decided to take my time and walk over to the other side of the park. As I was walking towards Asia I spotted a few friendly characters that I wanted to meet. King Louie has to be one of the most adorable characters ever along with Baloo from the Jungle book. Of the pictures taken of us together I have to say my favorite was this one of me and King Louie…isn’t he a dreamboat LOL!

image158.jpg

Shortly after that I continued my trek over to Asia, stopping to take a few photos along the way. I have to tell you this morning in AK was just amazing and there were hardly any people in the morning (it wouldn’t stay that way of course LOL). Here are a few of my favorite photos from my trip to Asia.

After taking a few minutes to admire EE I was off to ride Dinosaur! I really do enjoy this ride, the whole science feel to it, the going back in time, must be a thing with me because I love Ellen’s Universe of Energy for the same reason.

DSCF1232.jpg

Dinosaur was great fun!! After Dinosaur I looked at the clock and realized it was very near Finding Nemo time. Now when I was making plans I wasn’t sure which show I wanted to see Finding Nemo or FOTLK, however since I was close by and there wasn’t a line out the door I figured you know what let’s go see Finding Nemo.

DSCF1222.jpg

After checking with Nobby who agreed this would be a fun show to go we were on our way into the theater. The theatre itself is amazing and just beautifully decorated for the show.

DSCF1245.jpg

Nobby and I got ourselves settled in some great seats up on the incline first couple of rows. Nobby insisted on having his own seat so I obliged him.

DSCF1248.jpg

The show was amazing. The music was great, the puppeteers were fantastic, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and enjoyed every single minute.

DSCF1256.jpg

DSCF1267.jpg

After the show was over Nobby and I were ready for some adventure so over to EE we went.

DSCF1216.jpg

By then the single rider line was open and it was a very short wait until we on our way.

DSCF1276.jpg

DSCF1275.jpg

EE was freaking awesome!!! I loved it, I ended up sitting next to a dad whose family was in the seat ahead of us. He asked if I was a screamer and I said probably LOL, and he replied good so am I LOL! It was a great ride and I couldn’t wait to do it again!! Once off the ride I looked at my watch and saw it was getting close to my ADR time at Yak and Yeti but I would probably have just enough time to go do the safari. The FP window was up and they were burning a hole in my pocket. On the way back to Africa (where I noticed the park was definitely getting busier) I noticed a lot of people standing off to the side and just staring…I couldn’t figure out why at first…but then I saw this..

DSCF1283.jpg

DSCF1281.jpg

Isn’t she simply stunning!! I just stood there and watched her for awhile completely mesmerized. After awhile though I figured I’d better give someone else a chance to see so I kept marching along to Africa. Along the way Nobby and I spotted a photopass photographer so we stopped to get our shot taken. I really like this photo too and as you can see it must have warmed up because I finally took the hoodie off WOOT!!

image165.jpg

Finally after no more stops we made it to the safari!! Well what a ride it was, after backfiring (well at least that is what I thought it was, but boy was it a loud sound) and having another CM come down to make sure our vehicle was okay…our poor driver he seemed very nervous about all of this LOL!! We were off on the safari…

The Safari was AMAZING…I got some really great shots and Nobby and I were able to see a lot of different animals we really liked this tour.
Now it was time for lunch LOL

Continued in the next post

Nobby and I booked it off of Kilimanjaro Safari and quickly made our way through the crowds to our lunch destination. Nobby and I were going to be dining at…

DSCF1199.jpg

Upon entering I immediately was intrigued by the décor of this restaurant. They really did go all out and there was nowhere in the restaurant where anything repeated itself. I also made sure to take a beautiful light fixture picture for you know who LOL

DSCF1343.jpg

DSCF1340.jpg

I was quickly taken upstairs and given a window view seat, it was an amazing place to be seated. I was very happy with the view from my table. Nobby and I’s server of the day was Jeff and he was quite nice and made sure to say hello to Nobby. He left me the menu and quickly went off to fill my drink order. Upon his return I asked him if he had any recommendations for an appetizer and he suggested the pot stickers so that is what I ordered.

DSCF1357.jpg

They were yummy!! I would gladly get these again. For my main entrée I decided to go with the Honey Chicken and white rice.

DSCF1361.jpg

Once again this was really really good. The chicken was tender and there was just enough sauce to mix it together with the rice. The vegetables weren’t overdone and were also tender! Really enjoyed this meal.

Now dessert, that was the easy part. You see I had chosen this restaurant based on the dessert menu alone and I will return to this restaurant at some point for this dessert because yes people it is that good. So what did I get you must be wondering…

DSCF1366.jpg

The Fried Won-Tons!! Oh my goodness does this dessert make your taste buds dance. The Honey glaze is sweet but doesn’t over compensate the cream cheese filled wontons and to top it off they have delectable pieces of pineapple which just give it that “tang” you like in your dessert and if it couldn’t get any better they gave me ice cream with it. Oh yes I will have this dessert again, it will be mine LOL!

Once lunch was over I decided to visit the ladies room…now I must throw a disclaimer in here…I don’t normally take pictures in the bathroom, actually I never ever take pictures in the bathroom except for maybe once in my life (on this trip) and I will never do it again…but this light fixture was screaming for me to take the picture…and because we all know I love LL I took it and quickly hid and walked out before anyone could get a good look at my face. So for you LL…the infamous bathroom light fixture in the ladies room of Yak and Yeti.

DSCF1371.jpg

Well I was full and decided I needed to walk off some of those calories before heading back to the resort for a nap before my big evening at Magic Kingdom (I had a midnight date with HM would I make it LOL). So I decided to walk on a trail I have never done before

DSCF1373.jpg

This trail was so pretty and I really just took my time looking at the bats, the tigers, and just the scenery around me.

DSCF1398.jpg

DSCF1411.jpg

DSCF1420.jpg

DSCF1428.jpg

After walking the trail I knew it was time to make my way out and try to get a nap in. I had one last stop and that was the Tree of Life Garden. I wanted to get some photos of that beautiful tree before I left.

DSCF1449.jpg

DSCF1147.jpg

DSCF1450.jpg

DSCF1451.jpg

As I headed for the gate and my car, I spotted a photopass photographer and asked her if she did the baby Simba picture and she did WOOT!!

image173.jpg

Then it was time to say goodbye to Animal Kingdom. As I was heading up to my car I looked up in the sky and saw this…

DSCF1464.jpg

Oh yes it had been a great morning, I totally agreed with that plane drawer!

Continued in the Next Post

Well after about a 3 hour nap it was time to head to dinner. That evening Nobby and I would be dining at the Poly at Ohana’s. I decided to park at TTC and just walk over to the Poly. It was a beautiful walk and the resort grounds are just gorgeous. Soon I was entering the resort and heading up to the restaurant.

DSCF1474.jpg

DSCF1477.jpg

DSCF1479.jpg

I didn’t have much of a wait at all and I was seated in the middle of the room close to the where the meat was being cooked, oh did it smell delicious.

DSCF1489.jpg

So I’m going to give you a warning about Ohana if you are ever to go alone, it is a TON of food, there was no way I was going to be able to eat it all and I didn’t even bother trying, this was one time there was not going to be a clean plate LOL!

My server for the evening was Cousin Sumo and he was wonderful and really kept the food coming. The meal began with him bringing me that wonderful bread, followed by pot stickers, chicken wings, and a wonderful salad. Of all the items brought out at first I really enjoyed the salad the most and would love to get a hold of that dressing to take home with me.

DSCF1485.jpg

DSCF1492.jpg

DSCF1491.jpg

DSCF1487.jpg

(Nobby really enjoys meal time it means he can get out of his carrying vehicle for awhile LOL)

Following the beginning courses came the main part of the meal the meat!! Which was all very good. The shrimp were a bit spicy for me so I only had those once but my favorite of the night was definitely the turkey, it was super moist and tender and just amazing! Along with the meet came some broccoli and some noodles, by then I think Cousin Sumo was running out of room on my table to fit things LOL .

DSCF1501.jpg

DSCF1504.jpg

DSCF1498.jpg

DSCF1499.jpg

So not that I had much room at left at all but I was here once again for a most delicious dessert that I had heard wonders about and it did not fail.
The last course brought out to me was the Banana Bread Pudding and I really enjoyed it!

DSCF1517.jpg

Well I could barely walk, but I had a date at the Magic Kingdom. I was heading to find a great spot to find Wishes and then watch Spectro and since there were EMH that evening I was going to ride Haunted Mansion at midnight.

DSCF1527.jpg

Isn’t the castle just gorgeous at night?

The one thing I really enjoyed about being solo was that I could just get myself a spot for Wishes early and just stay there and people watch and just enjoy my surroundings. So that is what I did, I did make a few phone calls back home and just chat with people but the hour I waited was well worth it because I had an amazing view of Wishes. I didn’t even bother with pictures because this was one of those moments that I wanted to just experience it was my first Wishes and I just wanted to soak it all in and it was well worth it. I was at the corner of the Adventure Land and Main Street right near the hub with an unobstructed view of the castle and I was in awe.

After Wishes I decided to go find my spot for Spectro. After doing some reading I decided against watching it in the hub instead I headed to Frontierland and found myself a very nice bench in front of the Frontierland Arcade. A very nice family came and joined me and we had a great time chatting and getting to know each other, the time passed very quickly and soon enough Spectro was starting. This was another first for me, I had never done any of the nighttime shows at Magic Kingdom. Well, I fell in love Spectro is now my most favorite nighttime show and I will never go to Disney again and not see it! Here are a few of the pictures that I thought came out the best.

DSCF1560.jpg

DSCF1563.jpg

DSCF1576.jpg

DSCF1589.jpg

DSCF1661.jpg

After Spectro I had some time to explore so I went and rode Peter Pan and did some shopping. I also took another picture of the Castle that I really like.

DSCF1668.jpg

I then headed back to Liberty Square because I had a very special goal to accomplish. I was going to ride the Haunted Mansion at midnight.

DSCF1688.jpg

Awww…I was so bummed this was being refurbished while I was there…oh well in the near future I will be able to see this show. Doesn’t this building just sparkle in the dark, its gorgeous!

Finally 11:50 and I was in line at the Haunted Mansion. I was a bit nervous I was going to be too early and not be on the ride, but I walked really really slow through the line. I even stalled in the stretching room so I could hear the gargoyles talk to me, it was great. Finally at 11:56 I was getting on my doombuggy and sure enough (I have the cell phone picture to proof it)

DSCF1699.jpg

I was on the Haunted Mansion at 12:00am WOOT!!!! However the magic for me would only be beginning. As I was getting ready to get off one of the butlers asked me why I seemed so happy and I told him that I had just made a magical dream come true by being in the ride at midnight. Well he deemed that celebration worthy and told me to stay seated I was getting another free ride WHOOHOOO!!!! So I made sure to make the most of coming around and waving to the people who were getting on and the looks on their faces was priceless I’m sure many of them were wondering where in the world I am come from. I have to say I may have enjoyed that ride the most out of all of them. I made sure to give my sincerest thanks to that CM as I left.
After that I was tired and ready to head back to my hotel to get some sleep. I made sure to take a few pictures of Main St. on my way out.

It was an amazing, magical day! I was one very happy Disney lover that night when I laid my head down to sleep and headed to dreamland!

Holy update, Batman.

I hardly know where to start. First of all, thank you for all the pictures! You took so many, it gets me so excited for my trip looking at all of them! :goodvibes

Sounds like you had a good time at the Animal Kingdom. I've never seen the Nemo show, and I know people do rave about it. I'm glad Nobby enjoyed it, what with having his own seat and all. ;)

I've always wanted to try Yak and Yeti, but have heard mixed reviews. I'm glad you liked it! And I would have ordered the same thing, is that funny, or what? I love honey chicken, and the dessert looked divine.

I must tell you, I get a pang in my heart when I look at your beautiful food art from Ohana's. I really had my heart set on it. :confused3 I'm glad I can live vicariously through you.

And riding the Haunted Mansion at midnight! What's cooler than that!!!! What a great moment for you. :thumbsup2

Wonderful update, Jen!!! :goodvibes I don't know if I can even pick a favorite part because you did so many fun things -- Animal Kingdom, Yak and Yeti, Ohana's, and Spectro!!! :lovestruc I do know that my favorite picture is the one of the Everest temple -- I love that angle!

The food this day was DELISH!!!

I'm not a fan of porcelain dolls but thought you 'd get a kick out of this. It was in my email this morning:

dlr_product_marie_osmond_hauntedman.jpg

"Haunted Mansion Hostess" costume on "Adora Bitty Belle" who is elegantly attired in the costume designed exclusively for the attraction. This elaborate costume replica consists of a bottle green skirt, lace trimmed blouse & apron, with matching jacket and is topped off with the famous "Bat Hat" which is perched jauntily atop the doll's curls. This cute little pin trader doll comes with two tradable pins that celebrate the icons of New Orleans Square which includes the Haunted Mansion and the Haunted Mansion entrance plaque.
