And no, I'm not starting my Disneyland Trip Report thread yet. It might not be a Disney trip report, but maybe one you all will enjoy once we get back.

Thursday, we leave at the butt crack of dawn for San Francisco for Pride. Steven use to live there for a few years and has been itching to go back for a visit. I've been there once, but the only thing my ex really wanted to do was to hang out in the Castro, drink and party. So much for sightseeing. It was the Folsom Steet Fair that we went to, called the grand daddy of all leather events. Boy, do I have stories from that weekend.

We're staying at The Whitcomb across the street from City Hall, which is also right across the street from the Pride festivities. No waiting in hour long lines to pee. We can walk across the street to our hotel!

Steven became Mr. Anal and has planned the whole thing out, down to the bus, trolley car and cab rides we need to get where we're going and when. He has it timed down to the minute. I'm scared.

We'll be landing in San Jose to visit the Winchester Mystery House. Some old mansion built by a crazy woman, then back to the airport and taking BART to our hotel. Thursday night is hanging out on the Castro. Friday is filled with sightseeing and hooking up with friends. Saturday day has some Pride events and Saturday night is the Pink Party hosted by The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Sunday of course, is the actual Parade and Pride festivities.

We're so excited, although it bothers me that we'll be in California and not be going to Disneyland. :rotfl:

I'm sure I'll come back with tons of pics and maybe a story or two.

Can't wait!

In the meantime, maybe you should do a trip report to Folsom Street Fair! ;)

I don't think I could tell the stories from that weekend in this Family Friendly environment. :rotfl:There are a few pics in leather, but even some of those pics would have to be um, censored.

We were bad boys........

My favorite pic from that city is of me in front of the Trolly with the Rice a Roni ad! :rotfl2:

Have a blast!

Geesh, so many trips in the next few weeks...this board should be hopping with TR's! :thumbsup2

So, does that make you a San Francisco Treat? :rotfl:

And Thanks! Once we get back, I'm hoping that time flys before we have to turn around and fly back for our Disney trip.

LOL yes I could do that. I have to find them when I'm home.

Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy!!! Christy & I did Cali last year. A few nights in San Fran, we stayed at the Red Victorian. Well, it was really quaint, but we didn't like the 2 homeless guys who banged on their trash cans, drunk all night long, UNDER our window. At some point, DP turned to me and said, "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore!"

However, San Fran is GORGEOUS with SO much to see and EAT!! We also did a night in Nappa, and there are no words to describe how really beautiful it was! Can't wait to see pics and hear all about it! :woohoo:

Can't wait to hear all about it! You guys have fun!!!!

Thanks everyone! We went to see Dame Edna tour last night in Ft Worth. Steven had bought us tickets and wanted to see her before we left for our trip.

He loved it and said he could die a happy man now :sad2:. I thought she was funny, but due to a bad sound system, I could only understand half of what she was saying. The worst part? They were playing some sort of music with yodeling for 30 minutes before the show started. I wanted to slit my wrists.

I have very fond and vague memories of being up there for Folsom and lovely evening spent at the Powerhouse.

I've got vague memories of a couple nights spent at the Powerhouse, too. ::yes::

Not during Folsom Street Fair, mind you, but a couple of entertaining nights to be sure.

Hope you have safe travels and hope our paths cross this weekend.
Don

We're back!

And exhausted. We arrived in San Jose early Thursday and spent the first part of the morning at the Winchester Mystery House. I recommend seeing this for anyone traveling to the area. The owner was told by her medium, that she should continuously remodel and build the house to appease the spirits who were killed by Winchester rifles. Doors and staircases leading to nowhere, windows in odd places, the number 13 evident throughout the house, etc. Crazy.

We got to SF mid afternoon, settled into our beautiful hotel and took a trolley to the Castro to walk around and had a great Italian dinner at The Sausage Factory. Love the name AND the food. We called it an early night since we were going to be walking all over The City on Friday.

Friday, we were up early and took a long trolley ride. We checked out various parts of town, admired the architecture, went to see Lombard Street, Fishermans Warf to eat, shop and see the sea lions. We ended up checking out China Town and North Beach (Little Italy). We met a friend of Steven's for cocktails at The Disco Lounge then headed to Fritz Fries for dinner. Amazing fries served with your choice of 50 different dipping sauces. Plus they had crepes and sandwiches which were amazing.

Saturday, we again got up early. Today we went to Haight Ashbury, although we got there a little too early. Not much was open and all the hippies were sleeping. :rotfl: We had a wonderful breakfast at The Squat and Gobble, then headed to the beach, Presidio, Golden State Park, Golden State Bridge and finally back to Pier 39, then headed to Pier 1 for shopping. That afternoon, we checked out day one of the pride festivities. Not much was going on, but 150K people were there eating and dancing. I couldn't believe the number of people just hanging out completely naked! Can't get away with that in Texas.

That night we went for dinner at Pasta Pomodoro in North Beach and had the most adorable Irish waiter and amazing food, then to Beach Blanket Babylon. Oldest running musical cabaret. Absolutely hilarious and something you do NOT want to miss if you're ever in SF.

Sunday morning, we headed downstairs for Pride. Our hotel was a half a block from the events. We didn't watch much of the parade since it was hard to see, plus most pride parades are the same really. We did watch the Dykes on Bykes go by. We met up with friends and their son, wandering the streets checking out all of the boothes, bought some tshirts, had some good food, listened to some of the performers and relaxing on the grass with the other half a million people. The place was packed!

Around dinner time, we decided to hope on the trolley and go back down to Pier 39 and sit on the beach to watch the sunset after having Fish 'n Chips. No better way to end the perfect vacation then to be watching the sunset go down behind the Golden State Bridge with my baby.

Here's a few pics. Here's a link to see ALL of them if you're really bored.

I forgot to mention that yes we wore Eeyore and Tigger ears (we own all that they sell at the parks :rolleyes1) for fun and we constantly got attention all day long. Various people were taking our picture, official Pride photographers took our pics and got our names so they could put our pics online, bloggers took pics for pride articles, etc.

The best one was a kissing booth in the "leather area" that was asking people to let them take a picture or a 10 second movie of you kissing. Our friends are in the Masters of Disapline group and their friends convinced us to do it. They're putting them on some site within 4 weeks. I need to find that card.

If you do a movie, they donate $5 to a charity, that for the life of me I can't remember which one it is, but I think it's for Marriage Equality. $1 for kissing photo.

Anyhoo, soon there's going to be a video out of Eeyore and Tigger kissing online for the world to see. :rotfl:

So sorry our paths did not cross, but it looks like you did everyting possible in one weekend, you must be exhausted.

Glad you had a good time, and by the way the weather is NEVER this nice, you got a very rare clear and warm weekend in SF.
Don
