I was soooo excited to see this movie when it came out. I got tickets online to the first showing on the openeing day in our town!

But I have to be honest, it was a bit of a let down; I just didn't enjoy it as much as the first one.

What does everyone else think??

I thought it was ok as an action movie, but the plot was just too stupid for my liking. The first one was much better. And I was surprised at how crude this one was, I mean considering it's based on kids toys.

PG13 usually means there are some language bombs and this film did not disappoint. I normally read a review before I attend so I know what to expect with my almost 14yo son. We all liked the film although we found the action a bit muddied due to Too much action at times. I enjoyed seeing Egypt and Jordan - one of the scenes I could have sworn was done at Abu Simbel. Seems that there will be at least one more, "this is not over." being one of the final lines before the departure of the bad guys. I especially liked the sound track and I'm going to buy it this weekend. DS, who has watched and rewatched the first, says this was a good film. He liked the new character development and thinks the next film may involve the college professor.

I was shocked when I read the review that quoted some of the language in the movie. My son was all set to go see the movie on opening night with his uncle. He saw the first one and I don't remember there being a bunch of foul language in it. What a horrible thing to do to ruin a movie about kids toys. Is all the trashy talk really necessary? Just my 2 cents.

I liked the first one better. I think what really keeps me from liking this one a lot was the fact that there was so much more off-color language, rudeness (how much humping do we need to see?), and sexual stuff. And why put that jock strap scene in, that was rude and not necessary too. My DS (who is 17) said he was uncomfortable with all the small kids in the theatre and wished they hadn't put all that in as well.

I really wish someone I knew of a way to write them and tell them that I thought the added "crap" was a big let down and unneeded. The first one was much cleaner and did amazing at the box office. I just don't understand why they feel the need to smutty things up.

I slept through a good portion of the movie.

I didn't see the first one so I had no idea what to expect. The plot didn't make much sense.

The language was no big deal. Kids will hear the same stuff walking down the street or while riding the bus or subway.

I haven't seen it yet, but my DD's and 2 of their friends have seen it and they all said it was incredible..

We saw the movie this morning. It was a little long. And there were moments that I thought could have been edited out. I agree that some of the language wasn't necessary. Especially considering they are hyping this movie for kids by including Transformer toys with Burger King kids meals and selling toys in the toy stores. There were a few uncomfortable moments during the movie, like with the transformers were cussing at each other. I don't remember that happening in the first movie.

Other than that, the special effects were incredible.

OT: I have to admit that I have learned not expect much from sequels. I have never seen one that ever measured up to the first one. This does not include movie serials eg Star Wars, LotR, etc because they were designed to have more parts and frequently the second movie is better than the first eg. The Empire Strikes Back is my favourite Star Wars movie.

Back to your question though, we haven't seen it yet but will when DH comes home.

DS (13) and I just got back, and both thought it was just amazing. We liked it even better than the first one. I sure didn't think it was "smutty" at all, and language is just letters and sounds to me -- I have never been one to get hung up over one word being "bad" and another not. :thumbsup2

I thought the action was incredible, as well as the special effects. We don't spend money on movies very often, but I'm seriously glad we went. :goodvibes

I understand what a PG13 movie is, I just thought it was kind of crude with the dorm room posters and humping dogs. And can I just ask, do people REALLY think humping dogs are funny? Seriously, how many movies do they do this in! It's old and unoriginal.

Oh and I was also annoyed by the two autobots, the ghetto/hip hop ones. They were actin' a fool and I kept wishing the decepticons would just do them in!

I saw it the day it came out and said that I thought I had liked it better than the first (although that could be because it was fresh in my memory.)

As for the language, it is what it is. It may be based on a children's toy, but it's still an adult movie. Child's Play was based on a children's too... I think this version was funnier than the first one.

And.. as a completely heterosexual female... I gotta say that Megan Fox is smokin' hot.

This was posted on the other Transformer's thread and I have to agree... could you spot the following...?

Transformers: American Pie
Transformers and the Last Crusade
Transformers: Independence Day
Transformers: Star Gate
Transformers: 300

It was pretty obvious on some of it, I'd almost add Transformers: National Treasure too

I was really tired when we went and had a really hard time staying awake through the whole movie. Parts of it were funny but there seemed to be a lot more off-color humor in it than in the first one. I thought it was alright but not great like it could have been.

It was embarassingly bad. WHO keeps handing Michael Bay a paycheck??? The man needs to be stopped. I LOVES me some Transformers (the toys)...grew up with a toybox full of them (big fan of the Dino-bots), but the film was just lousy.

Plot holes big enough to drive Optimus Prime through...pretty sure there isn't a giant abandoned airfield with mountains in the back ground behind the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC.

HUGE editing/continuity flaws.

The "Wayans Bros." Auto-Bots were an afront to to...well...everybody.

This one ranks just a hair above Twilight. I'm holding out hope for GI Joe in a few weeks. I am a huge "popcorn" movie chick. Big 'splosions, big action, big F/X and I'm a happy camper. The movie had plenty of those, but was short on plot, substance and decent acting.

Yeah, I was like WHAT????? when they walked through the wall and there was a big air strip of old planes behind Air and Space, lol!!!! BUT...we LOVED the twins!!!

Yeah, the whole humping dog thing is old but adolescents love it and they are the ones in the theatres for the PG13 movies - which is THE biggest audience rating. Many teens will not even consider a film if it's not at least PG13. Not my idea, just the facts Jack.

As I said before, we LOVED the comic relief of the 'twins.' We are middle America types-mid 50's with a teen ager and we really thought they were funny. 'Course I like most hip-hop and R&B these days too!
