The Day the Mickey Died - In memoriam: Pal Mickey

Oh, dang! I saw that you had posted and thought I was going to find another chapter. but no, it was just comments. :sad2:

I'm trying to be patient....:surfweb: but my coffee is getting cold waiting...

So had you already read the 12pm post?:confused3

I was happy to see a post today. Way to go PPA! And that pic of DDWoob with Jasmine is so cute the way she is posing, holding her hand!
And, DSBuddy looks like a warrior with the napkin on his head and the sword on his plate!

So Pal Mickey's unreasonable fear of water doesn't affect him in POTC? Too distracted by the redhead!:lmao: I do love the pictures of DD with Jasmine and DS with the napkin on his head! It's very cool that your kids can be silly, some kids would do the "Dad, you're embarrasing me" thing. By the way, I love your new acronym, long live PPA!:)

Sorry about that.....but I've got to respond to people sometimes. Otherwise I'm going to end up on the cover of US Weekly under the caption "Peter, you are mean!" Plus...now I'm responding to your comments and somebody is going to think I'm posting a new chapter. Ironic...isn't it.

You might want to invest in one of those little coffee warmers...because every couple of days seems like the pattern.

DD Woobie knows how to work a camera. The real question is....what in the world is the giant red pill next to the DS's sword? Now I'm worried he's addicted to horse tranquilizers.

Yeah....it's funny how Pal Mickey's phobias take a backseat to his labido.

Our WDW philosophy is....nobody knows who we are....so why not slip into a tie-dye mickey t-shirt....strap on a giant fanny pack....stick a napkin on our head....and have a little fun. If we ever run into somebody we know....we'll just push them in some bushes and make a break for it.

I totally agree! I was surprised to see that your son was so willing to take that picture. How do you get them to cooperate without any eye rolling??? :worship:

Holy crap! You read my trip report! (Or at least skimmed it)

I'm honored, Mr. Panic Attack. And humbled.

It doesn’t make you feel like you’re in a first-class attraction when your sitting in an empty room. CBJ was like that.

I feel that way about CBJ even with a room full of people. It is by far my least favorite WDW attraction.

strap on a giant fanny pack...
I got completely ridiculed for wearing mine...AFTER the trip was over. It left me so scarred, I swore I'd never wear another one again.

The picture of DD is so cute! I'm glad she got to meet her favorite princess. :goodvibes

That's wierd...we posted at exactly same time. It's also wierd that you have Randi next to your little smiley because that's my sisters name.....and you don't run into it a lot.

DD loves meeting the princesses....that's what makes CRT worth the effort.

Anyway, DD Woobie was tickled pink to find out that Jasmine was one of the princesses in attendance. Apparently...she had replaced Mary Poppins....which was just fine with us because last time she kept forcing a spoon full of sugar down our throats. Enough with the sugar already Poppins....we have no medicine to go down. Plus...I can't imagine Mary Poppins would have allowed napkins on our heads...because that no-nonsense nanny has a major bug up her....bonnet.

Just a quick question....

When did Mary Poppins become royalty??

Oh....I'm on to you now hucifer. You tricked me because your link didn't say "flippin huge trip report". Tinkershell smacked me later because your TR is one of the few that she has printed out and re-reads when she's missing WDW. You're on the short list with the likes of LaLa, DisUnc, Zzub, UtahMama...oh yeah...you're big time.

I just cannot support any attraction that rejects Christmas....plain and simple. They can lower a hundred chunky bears from the ceiling....and I'm still not going to like it. It's the principal of the thing.

Well....once you get used to the snickering and finger-pointing....it's not so bad. Sometimes they throw vegetables though....that's pretty bad...especially fresh veggies because there's no give to em.

Great point PirateFish989. She was out of place from the beginning.

Go peddle you sugar someplace else Poppins. We don't need that junk around here.

Ok...now I feel bad....cuz I actually like Mary Poppins. Man...my therapist is going to have a field day with this one.

I love the pic of your DS with the napkin on his head. My DS would do it, but my DD would not be caught dead!

Our first trip to DW in 2004, we were new to the whole Disney Adventure. We decided 3 weeks before our trip we were just going to go!! So off we went.

We did not reserve anything until we got there (oops),so all Princess meals were full. Sad days! But we promised our DD, 5 at the time, that we would at least eat at Cindy's house. We were told the Princess's did not just "hang out" there, so we prepared DD for the worst. But Disney Magic was with us that day. We rounded the corner to board the elevator, and there was Cindy and Jasmine!! (Eyes welling with tears as I remember this moment!) We had almost 5 minutes alone with them!!

So as these two lovely ladies are talking with my DD, my DS (then 4) tells Cindy he likes her dress because it's blue. Jasmine, the jealous thing that she is, pointed out that she has a blue broach (or is that brooch) between her, uh, well, on the top of what little shirt covering she has. To which my husband quickly leaned in to me and replied,
"Yes she has!!" (Feel free to put your own dirty emphasis on that phrase as you read it! My DH sure did!)

So my DD was thrilled, as was my DH!

Great pic of your DD with Jasmine. Huh, still not so covered up I see!

Yippeee....an emser post is as rare as a DeVine sighting.

Both our kids are natural hams......I can only assume they got that from Tinkershell. In fact....a serious picture of DD Woobie is as rare as an emser post.

I must say your story about going to WDW on the spur of the moment has chilled me to the bone....because we plan for months. But you're right about the Disney magic.....it seems to show up just when you need it.

I found your story about Jasmine very interesting......because I've always been a big fan of blue brooches. I'll have to be more attentive next time....of the brooch.

Chpt 30 - I don't know....I'll have to check my notes.

I should probably mention that we were wearing tie-dye mickeys again....but not the same shirts as before. These were our tie-dye mickeys from our last vacation. Sadly....there were still even more tie-dye mickeys to come....because we are a sick, sick family....and the shirts are a desperate cry for help. I just wanted to make sure you knew we didn’t pack just one set of clothing for the entire trip....because that would be gross. Oh except for Pal Mickey....he just had his santa suit...and to be honest...it was getting a little ripe.

Anyway, after the Country Bears Who Refuse to Celebrate Christmas Jamboree...or CBWRTCCJ....Pal Mickey’s eyes rolled back in his head...and he announced in his spooky voice from the great beyond that the line for Splash Mountain was short. Yeah...whatever Pal Mickey. Fool me once...shame on you....fool me twice....you're sleeping in the tub...because your little Dionne Warwick psychic hotline routine is getting old. Turns out...this time he was telling the truth. The line for SM was short....and next thing we knew...we were floating on a log down the river....on a lazy trip to our laughing place.

After surviving another plunge into the briar patch at SM, we snuck back into Adventureland through that little opening by CBWRTCCJ and headed to the Jungle Cruise to exchange our fastpasses for a scenic trip through the Amazon. As soon as our Cruise Captain saw our shirts.....his eyes lit up like 25,000 imported italian twinkle lights. It wasn’t his fault....he spends the whole day repeating the same old tired spiel...and then..out of the blue...some fresh material was tie-dyed up in a bow and dropped into his lap. According to this guy, we were no longer the Panic Attacks. We were the Tie Dye Family. I tried to explain to him that changing our name was going to create some real problems with our plane tickets home...but he wouldn’t listen...for he had slipped into tie-dye madness. Hours of dead-pan puns had pushed him to the brink...and our shirts had driven him over the edge. Every line he delivered took on a Tie Dye Family angle. He would yell at the gorillas "hey, where did you guys learn how to parallel park anyway....from the Tie Dye Family?" or when we passed through the hippo pool he said "the natives tell me that they are only dangerous when they wiggle their ears and blow bubbles....or see the Tie Dye Family". Yup....that jokester was really on a roll. We were good sports...for awhile...but eventually we had to push him out of the boat. Here's an interesting bit of Jungle Cruise trivia for ya....they cut your ride short if you push the CM out of the boat. Who knew? Pal Mickey hated the Jungle Cruise anyway....because of his unreasonable fear of the back side of water.

If you've been to MK before....then you know that they always have these extravagant shows in front of the castle...where all the princesses and characters come out on a big stage and sing and dance about for your viewing pleasure. Tinkershell and Woobie love these things....or eat them up if you prefer. So does Pal Mickey....because he knows a bunch of people in the show.....and he wants to make sure that I know that he knows a bunch of people in the show....because Pal Mickey is a chronic name-dropper. He’s always saying things like “The other day...I was having lunch with Tigger and Eeyore stopped by” or “last Friday night....I was playing texas hold-em at Goofy's crib and Dale got totally wasted an accidentally ate a poker chip.”. Things like that. Yeah whatever Pal Mickey....you sure have a busy social life for somebody who never leaves the couch.

Woobie is waiting for the show....and not a raincloud in sight. Pal Mickey dropped a nickel.
178_7816.jpg

Here's the problem....even though Tinkershell and Woobie go to a lot of these shows.....they don’t actually get to watch very many of them. They have what meteorologists call a liiiiiiiittle bit of a rain-out problem. On our last trip....time and time again....they would skip off in the direction of the castle....only to reappear 45 minutes with long faces and damp socks because of a rain-out. But...hope springs eternal....and once again Tinkershell and Woobie headed off to the castle to catch the show....with Pal Mickey swinging happily between them. DS Buddy and I stayed behind.....because we had a little matter to settle on Buzz Lightyear. The boy had been talking some smack.....and it was time to see if his mouth was writing checks his trigger finger couldn't cash.

Next up: Chpt 31 - Dinner at Tonys

So, hopefully you'll tell us whether or not Tinkershell and DD Woobie get to see the show and not just skip to dinner. . . .

I am glad psychic Mickey was more in tune this time. SM is so fun. Your trip report is great.

Thanks...I'm glad you like it.

Psychic Mickey is hit and miss at best....but he did help us out on SM.....of course he had a 50/50 shot at being right.

:love: LOVE LOVE LOVE your trip report!!! When I first started reading it, I thought "wait, Mark (my brother) no , can't be, nope, it's not. " Your humor is sooo much like my brothers it's creepy.

By the way , it's been 2 days since you've done an update and I'm beginning to get anxious , because, you know, .... you will finish won't you??:scared:
