Thanks! Considering joining AAA- any discounts around? Updated

Hi everyone,

I tried searching because I know there have been threads about AAA lately but couldn't find any. I'm considering joining before our upcoming trip to Va Beach and was wondering if there are discounts around or referral bonuses if someone refers us. Sometimes we get a flyer in the mail that has a discount or other deal but I haven't seen one lately.

Anyone know?

Not sure if this helps you or not but DH & I got a free membership through our bank. You can ask if there are accounts with perks such as this. We don't earn interest on our checking but we do get free checks & the AAA membership was nice as well. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Sometimes, you just have to ask at places you go.

I was recently visiting my sister in the St. Louis area and we decided to do the Busch Stadium tour. She asked about a military discount and it was $2 off the $10 ticket. The woman at the ticket booth asked if I was also military, but I said no, and the only think I had was AAA. Well, with AAA, tickets were buy 1, get 1 free. Obviously a much better deal and we had no idea.

I think it's hard to find a list of places where you'll get a AAA discount. It pays to just ask. I do know that the Reebok outlet store near us always gives you a discount - I think it's 20% off your purchase - just for showing your card. Some of the other outlets require the coupon book and the discount isn't that great, but Reebok doesn't need the book. They always give it.

I agree! Ask around! Payless shoes gives a 10% discount for AAA. I don't know where you are on the East Coast, I am in NJ and there is a AAA store right near my house. They sell travel supplies, do-dads and have booklets with a partial list of places that offer AAA discounts. I have had AAA since our road trip to WDW in 2005 and I have used it several times, having older used cars.

Not sure about referral bonuses for your friend though.

I love my AAA membership!! I currently don't have any vision insurance whatsoever, so I use my AAA membership to get my eyeglasses from LensCrafters with a 30% discount...among other things. I also use it for hotel discounts as well.

We saved ton of money when we went to Universal. Universal offers discounts on hotels,merchandise, and park and citywalk restaurants with the AAA card. I have also used it to get discounts on many other hotels including Disney. There is a list of retail stores where you can discounts on their website. If can save more than 50.00 on your vacation with AAA card then it worth the cost membership.

I LOVE AAA!!! I have been a member for years. There are so many available discounts. I more than pay for the membership with the discounts I get. I purchase discounted movie tickets and frequently use the card when dining. As another poster suggested, you can sign on and put in your zip code to see what discount is available to you. Last year we purchased our park tickets there and received the parking pass. It is not for free parking but for free parking, right up front near the handicapped parking spaces. We never had to take the tram which is great after a long day at the park with a sleeping baby. I highly recommend this.

Have you checked AAA.com? My club is having a summer sale...$10 off a primary membership and 1/2 off associate memberships. I would also suggest calling your local office. You might get lucky.

As AAA is broken-down into multiple regions, you may want to do one of two things...

• Go to aaa.com and enter your zip code for your local website and browse-around for possible deals
• Tell everyone here what part of the country you call home (if it's a state with a large population base, you may have to "localize" it bit further)

Thanks everyone. I'm from CT. I checked out the local site and don't see any deals for joining. I know the membership will pay for itself I just like to check for discounts before I do anything. I'm going to visit the office tomorrow and sign-up.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I went to the local office yesterday and joined. I asked if they had any deals/offers going on now. The man said no but he would see what he could do. He ended up adding my husband for free We got the membership that includes 100 miles of towing for both of us for $102. I also got maps and books for our trip to Virginia Beach.
