Been There, Done That, Going Back! Day 14 Magic Kingdom

Day 14th Wednesday 27th May 2009 – Magic kingdom

Cast
Me (Nicky)-34 -The sensible one lol Magic Kingdom fan, love the water rides, doesn’t like the simulation rides.
Matt-37 Major Star Wars fan-loves DHS, likes simulation rides.
Luke-9 huge Star wars fan-Loves DHS and water rides


Well what can I say?
Today is our last full day!
The first few days of the holiday we seemed to do load. Now the last week, was just flying by. Had a lie in this morning, then breakfast at the Contempo Café
We headed back to our room to change so we could finally get to use the hotel pool.
The pool was great and it would be nice to see it again when it was finished.

We then went back to our room, Matt went to do the door while I waited outside the patio door. As I sat down the door opened and a lady from Mousekeeping said ‘Welcome home’ I thought it was a nice touch, she had just finished our room so left us too it. After changing I packed a lot more stuff, id already packed lots. It had been quite hard this trip as due to the rain we had a lot of wet clothes. We never really had much time to go to the laundry room to dry them. When we did have time there were many other families waiting to use the dryers so I gave up and hung them around the room.

We then headed to magic kingdom, one of the first things we did was look in the shops to see what things we wanted to buy later. On this holiday it took them a day to get items sent to the room so we knew what we got we had to carry. It was around lunchtime so we went to get some clam chowder and then Funnel cake (another DIS tip) it was very tasty.

We headed to the laughter floor, followed by Buzz. We then walked through Toontown and looked through Minnie and Mickey’s houses.

We looked in the nearby shop and then caught the train to Frontierland and did Splash Mountain

We decided that Big Thunder Mountain would be a great ride to end our holiday on, we mentioned this to the cast member while we were waiting for him to take us though the Disabled entrance. He told us we could ride it twice, what a great ride to finish on………….

However as we were walking back to the shop I remembered that Luke wanted to do Dumbo the other day, so he and matt went on that.

We then walked through the castle and then did all our shopping:
Glass etched frames
T-shirts
Big lollipops
Mickey bracelets
Star Wars cars
Tube of powder
Lots of fudge (Matt loves the stuff)
Large Minnie.

I’m sure we got a few other things but can’t remember them off the top of my head.
When you spent over $50 in the shops you could buy a Disney woven Tapestry for about $15 or some bags. We got a couple of the tapestry’s over our tip- a Star Wars one and one of the castle. We also got a travel bag for me, as a carry on bag for the aeroplane.

Now on our last holiday we did Magic Kingdom during the day, but in the evening we had a meal at California Grill. We had a rubbish experience there due to poor service and the dreadful waiting times. We also didn’t like watching ‘Wishes’ there. So this holiday we made sure we watched ‘Wishes’ by the castle.
I thought it was a nice touch to have a nice meal, so we opted for Crystal Palace.

When we got to Crystal palace they had someone checking people had ADR’s before you got to the window. She couldn’t find ours, so Matt waited in the queue and when he got to the window the woman there couldn’t find it. Not a good start, eventually she found it though. I thought it was amusing the woman came from Leicester- where we live. We were given our pager and knew it would be a while. Matt & Luke went to use the toilets in CP, however the cast members directed them to toilets some way away. Saying they were better, they were gone ages. In this time the pager went off, so obviously I couldn’t be seated, as you needed the whole party. I couldn’t get Matt, as I didn’t know where the cast members sent him. Anyway he finally turned up, not happy as he went sent to toilets that were just awful and he could only just get Luke’s wheelchair in. So it took him ages, as he couldn’t really move.
When we got in he complained to the cast members about them but they didn’t seem interested. Matt also checked the toilets in the CP, there was nothing wrong with them, and they’d have been very suitable.
Just wanted to mention what happened in case someone is in a similar situation.

Anyway I think due to the start Matt just really wasn’t going to enjoy this.
He went up but didn’t seem to find anything much he enjoyed. I knew a lot of the foods were spicier and different styles. I did warn him in advance. I didn’t quite realise how rubbish the kid’s selection would be though. Chicken Nuggets and Mac n cheese aren’t great kids food. A lot of the adult’s stuff was too spicy for Luke.
I’ve got to say I enjoyed the foods though, there was a great selection but again not very warm. The pudding selection was ok; Luke managed to eat a cookie.

I will say the character interaction wasn’t that good, they just posed for a picture. There were only the 4 and they took ages to come round, when they did it seemed all at once.

After dinner we had enough time to go back to the shop and pick up our crystal frames.

It was then time to watch our final ‘wishes’

I was right it was a great way to end our last day in Florida..........

Im def a Chef Mickeys Fan. Think they could make it better by adding a few more characters eg rabbit,lumpy,owl,roo,kanga. Its such a big place.
