Budget stroller for 5 year old

I am coming to the reality that our 5 year old will need a stroller to get through our 2 week long trip to Disney this August. We currently have a Maclaren but it is getting old and hard to push. I would love something super lite and easy to fold. Don't want to break the bank. She is just under 40 pounds. I have checked into the swaps but they are all full at this point and renting is a fortune. All ideas are welcome.:goodvibes P.S. We will probably never use it again so I am not looking for Volo or something in that price range. Hoping to keep it around $50.

Do they even make strollers that will hold a 5 year old??? My daughter was tiny at 5 years old but there was still no way she would have fit into a stroller of any kind. (besides that, I think 5 is old enough to walk around a theme park!)

These are all under $100.00 some are in the $50.00 range.

The condo we rented had the same stroller, or one very similar to the "Jeep Neptune." My 5 year old used it & it worked out great for us. At 5 she was old enough to walk through most of the day, but the stroller came in very handy when she got tired, and was great for all of our stuff.

It was also chilly when we were there, and at the MNSSHP in particular, my DD curled up in the stroller with a jacket as a blanket & didn't come back out!

I'd spend the $70 and get a Volo before I'd get a 40lbs stroller. At her age you'll get ALOT more use (= better value) spending that extra $20. If you can swing it I'd do it. You can get a new in box Volo on ebay, including shipping for $70.

I thought the Volos were in the $130 range. I will check out Ebay. Thanks.:goodvibes

I know she can walk. That is why I did not sign up for a swap way back but I know DH and I will be carrying her before the day is over if we don't have something. Thanks for doing the search. I would love to spend $40 because I know it is going in the trash before we even checkout of the hotel. I will check out the Volo though.

When my kids were 5, we just used umbrella strollers for them (very similar to the ones sold at Disney).

Why throw it away? If that's the plan, put up a post here...I'm sure there's a diser needing a stroller after you who would be happy to take it off your hands. :)

I am afraid of it not holding up but I hit Walmart tonight to check them out. The wheels were not attached so she could not sit in it. I really just want to take the stress out of being at one end of the park and her wanted to be carried to the buses. I am happy to hear of someone else getting away with an umbrella for an older child.

We got two Volo's last year and will be using them this trip too. I don't see us using them again after that, but they were well worth every penny.

I got a nice one off craigslist for DS when we went.

Check garage sales too. You may find one there too!

The Evenflo XSport Convenience Stroller holds up to 40lbs and is only about $40 at Walmart.

My niece was a week shy of her 5th birthday when I took her last fall and weighed just under 40 lbs. I used a cheap umbrella stroller for her and it worked great! I gave it to a family with young children as I was leaving as I didn't want to cart it home.

Thank You!!!!
