Eating at a resort restaurant when staying off site

We have alway stayed on site but currently are off site and want to go eat at a resort restaurant...can you do that? I just know at the on site resorts they are gated, can we get in to eat there if we are not staying at a d
Disney Resort? The place I want to go is Port Orleans Riverside. Thanks!

I'm sure you can. Just let them know that you are eating at the restaurant and I'm sure they will tell you where to park. I think you have free parking for 3 hrs, so you will probably have time to look around the resort if you wanted.

Absolutely, I do it all the time. When you get to the gate shack at the resort they will ask for a photo ID (or they should) you show them and let them know you are coming to eat and they will let you right in.

Yes, you can do that. Parking at resorts is not restricted specifically to guests of that resort. At some resorts you may be given a parking time limit.

at the poly. Just told them we were having lunch there. You are allowed to park for a couple hours at the resort. POR also has boat ervice from DTD. If you're staying at a offsite hotel, go to DTD and just catch the boat. It docks right by the restaurant. (It stops at POFQ first).

When we ate at Park Fare, we were told that we had to leave our car with valet parking. I think it's $10/day. I don't know if this was an unusual thing or if they do it all the time, but just be prepared.

It's a good idea to have your ADR confirmation # handy. As a local, I often go to the resorts for meals, and if it happens to be busy for any reason, they will cross check your ADR confirmation against a list before letting you in. I would say that's happened to me at least a dozen times over the years.

Once, a few years ago, I had an ADR at the Concourse Steakhouse at CR, and I was turned away at the guard station and told to park at the TTC because of a huge in house convention. In all of my years of going on property just to dine, that has only happened to me one time.

The self parking for GF is across the road from the resort. The last time I was there, there was no gate access there - it was just open parking. Have they put up any barriers that would have required the previous poster to use valet instead of self parking? It's a long walk from the self parking, but I've done it (in cooler weather) without a problem.

This is Disney! You can basically do whatever the heck your darn heart desires!!!

Tell the guard at the gate you are going to eat and enjoy your meal!

Grand Floridian may have the worst self-parking lot on property. At a guess, it was either full or they want to make sure spaces are available for guests of the resort.

Just try parking there when you stay at the resort. We stayed at the GF for one night a few years ago and I made the mistake of carrying the luggage from the self park to the room in 99 degree, 99% humidity.

Your best bet is to just take the monorail from MK and then head back to the park when you are done if you are eating in any of the monorail resorts.
