do people find it's too much of a hurry to do an 8am character breakfast in a theme park and make RD

I always breakfast with Donald and always make rope drop with plenty of time for food and characters. And wow is the food good!

We're trying the 8:00 Donald's breakfast this trip.

We felt too rushed with an 8:00 CRT so we won't do that one again. The last seating works better for us there. We have done the 8:00 at Crystal Palace too and felt we had sufficient time to eat and get out by 9:00. Still, we prefer the 10:30 (latest) seating there too, as the character interaction was less rushed and we practically had them to ourselves.

We did Crystal Palace at 8:05 twice last trip and you can forget seeing all the characters here before 9:00. I don't think the rotation here is run nearly as well as at Tusker House or 1900 Park Fare breakfast. So, it depends on where your adr is scheduled.

We were able to see all the characters, eat and not be rushed. The issue we had at both Tusker House and CP is trying to get the ticket, add the tip, blah, blah. It took forever and we ended up walking out of the restaurant as the general public was just starting to walk by. This time, I already know what my tip will be for good service and have put it in an envelope. i will ask for my check when they bring the drinks- letting them know we will leave a cash tip. That way, we are free to leave as soon as we are done with characters and food.

I'm doing the same thing. On my last trip I made the tip envelopes up so that they were flexible... I put my maximum tip in each envelope and made sure there were some small bills so I could take out however much I wanted. If service was great they got it all, otherwise I could remove some and leave what I felt was sufficient.

We always book Crystal Palace for 8:05 am & have always been done in time for rope drop without rushing to do so. Same thing for Tusker House - 8:05 am adr & easily done in time for rope drop. We're able to eat as much as we want, see all characters, enjoy the parade around the restaurant & use the bathroom if necessary - all before rope drop & without any rushing.

I would love to do this, but we are a party of 6, thus automatic 18% gratuity. I'm not even sure how this works with the DDP. Can we still leave it in cash? Can we still settle the bill, including the auto. gratuity, when we first get there? We're planning on charging tips to our room so we can pay it off with our rewards card. We only have one early ADR (8:15 at TH), but I am worried since it's not right at 8 and I want to get out of there quickly.

Yes, if it's auto-gratuity you can settle at the beginning. And, if I were you I'd arrive at 8:00. Chances are very good that you'll be seated right away.

Thanks! And that's exactly what we're planning to do;)!
