"This Isn't Disneyworld. . .It's Rainworld!!" our trip to WDW May 16-23, 2009

Hi Becky! :wave2: This is Michelle from the DIS meet at the Poly. I'm so sorry about all the rain you guys had. We left on Monday night and were thinking of you guys all week. Sounds like you made the best of it though. Can't wait for the rest of your report! :goodvibes

Have been looking for your report! Glad to see it starting. The girl's customs look adorable! I just ordered one for my Emmie and can't wait to see it! Looking forward to hearing all about your family's trip. :)

Wow, Ms Becky you move fast!! 4 pages before I even noticed you had started! :goodvibes Great start so far - the pictures of the kids are darling - and what fun to have a Dis meet too! Good time!!

Looking forward to reading more! Take care!
Katie

Thank you Katie!! I'm so glad you found my TR and are joining in!!

Aw, your girls are adorable! :cutie:

How did you keep them busy on the plane ride?

Yay for getting a front row seat on the bus!

I love arriving at the Resort. The Poly is beautiful, isn't it?! That's so great you got the building you wanted!

So cool you had a DIS meet!

The girls look so precious sleeping!

Ally brought a backpack on the plane filled with activities. Color Wonder books/markers, coloring books/crayons, sticker books, etc. So the girls had plenty to keep them busy on the plane (you can see pics on my PTR). :cutie:

Yes, the Poly is absolutely beautiful!! I wish I was there right now!! So glad you're joining in!!

Stopping by to read about your trip. I live in TN as well. We live in middle TN, about an hour South of Nashville. popcorn::

Hi and welcome!!! You live fairly close to me!! :wave2:

You have a beautiful family. I love the hair ribbons...do you sell on ebay?? Also the outfits are so cute on the girls...does she sell on ebay? What travel agency do you go through? Sorry about all the questions...if you answered these aready I must have miss it somehow. The Poly looks wonderful...reminds me of Hawaii (another place I love to go to). Looking forward to more...

Thank you so much!! I do sell my bows but not on Ebay. I will PM you all of the info including info on my travel agent. I would not recommend the lady who made the girls outfits (you can read my PTR for all the drama behind that). Welcome and glad you're here!! princess:

Ok! caught up... great start! I love how excited Ally is...I love traveling through a youngster's eyes... Ashton was sooo fun to share with I can't wait until his next trip when he seems to understand even more...
the dance costumes are adorable...reminds me of when Gwendolyn was young...brings back the memories....
can't wait to hear more...I love the pics of the poly
if and when we go deluxe I wanted to go AKL but after seeing your pics I'll have to think about it (but, I think we are going moderate next time--so I really have time, but, you never know--LOL!)

Before we left on our trip I had someone on the Creative DIS board make the girls invitations for each of their character meals. I set the invitations out the night before so when the girls woke up, they were excited to see where they were going that day!! Here is the one for today (Hollywood Studios):

this is Ally's (Claire had one with her name that looks exactly the same)
AllyePlayDine.jpg

So we woke up early (every morning we set the alarm and had a wakeup call). We ate a quick poptart breakfast in the room and then took the bus to Hollywood Studios. We got there right when the park opened and headed straight for Star Tours. I did get a quick pic in front of the hat!
002.jpg

and a pic in front of the Snow White topiary
003.jpg

Brent is a HUGE Star Wars fan (it was the very first movie that his mom took him to see at the theater) so he was all about Star Tours. However, he refused to bring any of his shirts to wear!? Oh well--so we got to Star Tours and it was only a 5 minute wait (the park was still pretty empty at this point).
004.jpg

So I got a child swap pass and Brent and Ally headed in!! Claire and I hung out in Tatooine Traders and then I took her picture on this thing.
010.jpg

Brent and Ally came out about that time so I took their pics as well!
013.jpg

014.jpg

Then Ally and I headed in and pretty much walked right on the ride!! It was a lot of fun!! When we came out Brent and Claire were watching the Jedi Training Academy. Brent took some great pics with my zoom lens!

When that was over we planned out what we wanted to do the rest of the day. Our first stop was the show The Voyage of The Little Mermaid. Ariel is Ally's favorite princess so she was super-excited! When we got to the line the CM said to come get back in line in about 15 minutes (no one was in line yet for the show). So we headed to the shops next door. Ally was starting to get a blister from her MJ Crocs. I had some moleskin but didn't have any scissors to cut it. The nice CM in the store let me borrow some so I cut a bunch of pieces, put some on Ally's blister, and headed back to The Little Mermaid show. We got in line and they were letting people into the theater. And would you believe they cut the line off right before we walked through?! So we ended up having to wait longer which is difficult with Claire wanting to get down and run around. But we made the best of it and before we knew it we were headed into the holding area. We were first in line!! I asked the CM which side the stage was on so we would be sure to line up at the correct door to insure front row seats. We waited a little longer and then they let us in! Sure enough we had front row seats!! It was great! The show was wonderful--I think Ally wished it was a little longer. She thought it was really cool how they used the lighting to make it look like you were sitting under water!

Then we left and headed to our 12:00 lunch reservations at Hollywood & Vine. We checked in early and they seated us very quickly. The buffet was really good! We all enjoyed the food. Goliath was the first to come around. I had to explain to Ally why he couldn't sign her autograph book--I think she was still baffled after my explanation.

And then came June (Ally's favorite of those that were there--probably b/c she is a dancer just like Ally)
060.jpg

063.jpg

064.jpg

June is trying to get Claire to look at the camera by waving the pen--didn't work so well!
068.jpg

Then they took a minute to sing and dance. Ally got up and joined in. She had a lot of fun dancing!
070.jpg

Then we headed back to our seats and along came JoJo!!
078.jpg

Hey, don't bother me! I'm trying to eat here!!
081.jpg

continued in next post!

And then came Leo!! (I didn't really get a good pic of Claire--but as you'll see as the TR progresses, Claire's interaction with the characters improves immensely!)
088.jpg

Before we headed out I took a few pics in front of the entrance!
090.jpg

This child does NOT want to be held--can you tell?!
091.jpg

So we left Hollywood & Vine and headed to Beauty and the Beast--Live On Stage for the 2:00 show. They were already letting people into the theater so we quickly parked the stroller. We entered the theater on the left side and most of the middle section was already full. I noticed that there were seats in the left section all the way down on the front row so we took those seats. Not sure why they weren't taken already but we were excited!! There was about 15 minutes until the show started so Ally made friends with the girl sitting behind us! (she knows no stranger!) Then the show started and I had tears streaming down my face. (this happened a lot during our trip) The show was just soooo good! One of our favorites for sure! Our seats were great and even Claire sat very still during the show--she was in awe! (as were we) Brent took the pics this time around and used my zoom lens again. Here are a few shots (he took a TON!!):

Once we left the show we headed back to get a place to sit for the Block Party Bash at 3:00. On the way, I took Ally's pic in front of this car:

We got really good seats right behind the rope on Hollywood Boulevard. The parade was very entertaining! Claire was dancing in her stroller!

Becky do you have an Etsy store for your bows? If so, could you pm me or tell me how to find them?
Thanks!

Really enjoying your report/pics - kids are adorable - I think that has been written once or twice by others :goodvibes - love all the Ally ones with her white sunglasses. Looking forward to your updates. :tinker:

We loved this girl's ladybug outfit!!

After the parade we went down to the Pixar part of the park and got a snack. I had a Mickey ice cream and Brent & Ally had frozen lemonades. At this point I'm on the phone with some friends of ours. They go to church with us and their daughter Lexi is Ally's age. They were there the same day and we were deciding when and where we would meetup. We decided to meet for the 5:50 Playhouse Disney show (after their dinner reservations). So we discussed our plans and decided we had better make the 4:30 HSM show b/c we wouldn't get to see it if we didn't catch that show. Well guess what?! It started raining! Uggh!! So we hung out awhile under an awning. As we were waiting we put Claire on her Minnie Mouse harness. She was walking around passing the time and some guy said (very loudly), "I would NEVER put my child on a leash!" Oh buddy--that really made Brent mad! I wasn't too happy either! The guy obviously didn't have any children--I wasn't even sure he was married! I just couldn't believe how tacky he was! Who says things like that OUT LOUD?! What a jerk! His time will come and he will eat his words! Anyway, so the rain finally decided to stop and we made our way to the front of the hat to get our place for the HSM show. So we waited there for awhile and then they CANCELLED the show! We had a great spot, too!! They said that the ground was too wet for the HSM cast to perform safely. So they brought out the cast for a meet and greet instead. Ally was soooo disappointed! But we made the best of it and went and met some of the cast.

So now we had some time to kill so we decided to check out some other parts of the park!

So we made the loop and headed back towards the Playhouse Disney area. Ally wanted her pic in front of the Little Mermaid.

And back to Playhouse Disney
301.jpg

Claire is out at this point (thank goodness)!
302.jpg

We had time to meet some characters so we jumped in line to meet Handy Manny!!
311.jpg

And then Quincy! (Ally was hoping for Annie--we never ended up seeing her)
316.jpg

By that time it was getting close to the time that we were to meetup with our friends. So we stood in front of the Playhouse Disney theater to wait for them. I was getting a little antsy as the line for the show was starting to grow and there was no sign of our friends. So I called them and they said they were finishing up and leaving the restaurant--that they would be there shortly. Brent could tell I was stressing so he asked me if I wanted to get in line. I told him no, that that would be rude. We would continue to wait until they got there. Well, the CM from the show overheard us talking and told us that she thought she could help us out! She asked us how we would like to be the special "Family of the Show" for the Playhouse Disney Show! She told us to come stand with her by the front door and that she would escort us into the theater first and that we would get front row seats!! How exciting!! Our friends would get to be the "Family of the Show" as well!! She also gave us this special certificate!
320.jpg

And just then our friends showed up!! They were very excited when they heard the news!! Here is Ally and her friend Lexi!

We all loved the show! Claire sang and danced the whole time. It was sooo cute!! (Minnie & Mickey are her favorites)

After the show we headed outside and it was raining again!! So we walked around for while and then we headed over to the ABC Commissary so we could get a bite to eat. I had the Bleu Cheese chicken sandwich and some chocolate mousse! It was WONDERFUL--sooo good!! We relaxed for awhile to stay out of the rain. Lexi and Ally serenaded the people around us with their church choir songs (they were missing their choir program at church that night so they decided to have their own concert right there at HS!!). After dinner we decided to see if Fantasmic was still going to happen that night. The show was scheduled for 9:00 and 10:30. We decided on the 9:00 show--10:30 was just going to be too late for us! No one could tell us if it was cancelled or not so we headed to the amphitheater and got in line. By this time it was POURING rain and lightning pretty badly. There was still about an hour until the show but they wouldn't let us be seated due to the lightning. So we stood in this long line and waited and waited and waited some more. We found out that they would not call the show until right up until it was to start. We were hoping for the best but when 9:00 rolled around they told everyone that the show was cancelled. Uggh! They invited everyone to hang around for the 10:30 show. Yeah--no. So we all turned around (along with everyone else in line) and slowly made our way out. The rain was not letting up so we decided to call it a night and head back to our resorts. The girls said their goodbyes and we made plans to meetup at Magic Kingdom the next day.

Coming up--Day 3 @ Magic Kingdom and breakfast at CRT!! (oh--and more rain!)

What a long fun filled day at DHS! I am super impressed you lasted all day without a break, especially in the rain.

The girls are once again darling!

I was also anti-leash before children. Now, I think they are great. My daughter loves wearing a monkey on her back. Where did you find the Minnie one?

Great update! I love the Tink dresses and am amazed at how well your daughters did all day in the park.:)

Great update! The girls look adorable. How cool that you guys were the special family at Playhouse Disney. Can't wait for more!

I couldn't help but notice you had a sit and stand stroller... Did that work well with your girls? we are going at the end of September with a 4 year old and a 1 year old and can't decide what kind of stroller to bring.
