Make A Wish September 5th - September 11th

Hoping this trip is everything your beautiful son hopes for and more!!

You all deserve it!!

Can't wait to read more!

Thank you!! We are so excited!! :yay:We just can not wait until we get our dates. We know it will be September or later because Lucas has his chemo until the end of July.

I noticed you are from Nashville. That is where Lucas goes for Treatment. He goes to the Children's Hospital In Nashville. It is about 1 hour 45 minutes from our home (depending on traffic). Lucas has fallen in love with Nashville.

I had to send some missing paperwork to MAW today. My husband always likes to wait until the last day possible to do anything so we had to send a copy of his new driver's license to MAW. While I was on the phone getting the address I was able to ask about our dates. One part of Lucas wish for Disney was to do the Behind the Scenes Magic of the Railroad tour (I believe that is what it is called), but you have to be 10 years old to go. But MAW has put in a special request to see if they would make an exception for him. He is only eight. But he sure loves trains and could tell them exactly how those steam engines work. So I was able to ask the question about our dates and she said that we should have an answer within the month. They are waiting on the doctor to sign off (our primary doc is out of town alot). We know that he will not have a problem with it, because we had already discussed it with him. She had shared that September is a great month to go. So that is what we are hoping for!

Also we have found out that Lucas' school is having a special program for him on the last day of school. They are going to have an assembly and they are asking everyone in school to wear Disney themed clothing and the 5th grade chorus is going to sing Disney songs. The school is going to have a penny war or a dollar war (they are not sure which yet) and make a donation in Lucas's honor for MAW. They are wanting to surprise him. The MAW volunteers are going to be with him that day accepting the donation.

I was just excited :banana:and I have felt like all of you have become friends:grouphug: and I wanted to share it with you. Thank you for listening!!!!

Hi There! Looking forward to hearing more!

If you have the opportunity, when you are in Nashville, stop by the Disney Store in Opry Mills...and ask if Lynn is there...I work mostly on weekends, but occasionally will work an evening or two during the week! Would love to say Hi! in person.

Good luck with everything!

We know exactly where the Disney Store is. We were just there on Monday looking for a Mickey Mouse shirt for Lucas. He is wanting to get ready for Disney. So I told him we will stop in there again before our trip. So will make sure that we stop in and say hello!

Lucas had a very exciting day at school. His school has been having penny wars between the classes but he did not realize that they were taking up the money to be donated to Make A Wish. They had an assembly today and his principal came in his Mouse Ears and Mouse gloves and another teacher:teacher::flower3: came in dressed up like Winnie the Pooh. They started sharing about Lucas and what he goes through each day and that his Wish had been approved and that we are waiting for dates for Disney. Then his principal had his Make a Wish Volunteer come up and then Lucas. He was so surprised! Then they donated the money in Lucas' name to Make A Wish!!!! It was such a special day. One of the most special moments of the day was when I went to Lucas' class to get him his teacher said that a second grader that did not know Lucas wanted to give him a chocolate rose that she won that day. :lovestruc I thought how sweet!! What a blessing!!! We have been very blessed that Lucas' school has supported him so well. Lucas had been working very hard collecting his pennies because he wanted his class to win. After it was over he said I did not know I was doing that for me.

I just feel very blessed and wanted to share!!!

Wow! That is amazing! Brings tears to my eyes reading about the good in the world! :grouphug: Grats on the MAW trip and I wish all the best to Lucas and your family! :cloud9:

Did he find a Mickey shirt that he liked? We have a red one, a blue one and a green one (not many of these left)...

We finally found one. A very nice lady went to back and found us one. There was not much left by the time we arrived Monday afternoon. He got the blue one (that is his favorite color) but thank you for asking.

Thank you so much!!!! We are excited.

Yes you are right about the good in the world. That has been the positive part of Lucas' disease. We have been blessed by so many special people and how the Lord has allowed them to be in our lives. We were eating at a restaurant right before Lucas was starting his chemo and a lady oveheard us talking about it and a total stranger put $60.00 in his pocket and said put this toward a Ninetendo DS he will need that during his chemo. It is amazing running across these special people. And also this board. It has been amazing getting to know people on these boards and just kind words that people share and they right just make your day.

So thanks for sharing!!

What a wonderful story about your ds's school and donation!!

It truly was a very special day. But the funny thing about the whole day was the entire school was so excited about collecting the money and so was Lucas. Little did he know that it was for him. He was very surprised at the assembly when they made the announcement. We are very blessed to be a part of such a great and caring school.

oh, that is so awesome! He got to be sponsored by his school! It doesn't get much better than that!

Lauren was able to be the chair for the MAW collections at her high school this year and it was a highlight for her to be able to give back.

How cool!

I am finally getting caught up on all of my trip and pre-trip reports!! :) I am enjoying reading yours! And I agree...illness can bring the best out in people. The Lord works in the hard stuff, too...and sometimes we see it more clearly in the hard stuff.

I LOVE that train shirt he is holding up!!!

We are so blessed to be such a part of a caring school. They have really got behind Lucas and our family and have supported us so much.

Lucas loved that you noticed his train shirt. It was wonderful surprise for Lucas when our MAW volunteer had brought it with her. She said MAW was going through Lucas' information and read how much he loved trains and they had some extra shirts and sent one down for Lucas and one for this brother. Needless to say he has wants to wear it about everyday.

I also noticed his blue Mickey shirt! (It is fun to see stuff from the store on people...of course we saw lots when we in WDW last OCT! :goodvibes.

Can't wait to hear when you get dates.

Yes that was the shirt that we got. It was so funny trying to explain to him why I was buying the shirt and why he was to wear it to school that day. It was Mickey so I did not have to say much. :thumbsup2

As someone was sharing in their PTR it is like waiting for Christmas. We can not wait until we hear from our dates.
