Last July I convinced my husband to purchase DVC before he had ever set foot in Disney. Now the guy is worse than me with the "addonitis". So we cured that this evening by purchasing an add on at BLT! :cool1: Now we have two home resorts (AKL & BLT) and we get to go on a cruise. :thumbsup2 Very very excited! Thanks for letting me share.

Congratulations to you! I remember how excited we were when we first became members. Still have a few years left to pay off our loan however, I know an add in is in the very near future.

You didn't cure your addonitis, you just fed it. :rotfl: Trust me, it will be even stronger now. (Notice that we own at THREE homes...)

Congrats on your new home, in any case.

LOL! We took the DVC tour back on New Year's Eve, primarily to get some extra fast passes to use during our trip and because we had sworn off the choas of parks that day. DH and I were both very good at saying "no thanks" regardless of the times our guide tried to show us how we could maximize trips and save lots of money by going DVC.

Fast forward to late March/early April. DH is surfing the boards and sees the new incentives for BLT. "Well...maybe we should buy 160 pts", he says. I respond back with "why not 200?". We settle on 200 and call our guide. The documents arrive and there is a typo. No problem--fix the mistake, right? While we are waiting to hear back from our guide, we start talking. "300 sounds good, don't you think?" Our guide calls back and we up the contract to 300 and they send us a perfect copy of the contract.

A few weeks ago I start saying to DH, "What if they offer amazing incentives on the cruise?" DS and I are going on tomorrow. "Wouldn't it be great to stay at GCV when we're out in DL?" Guess what??? I haven't even gotten to Florida or the ship yet, and we've already got 125 pts. at GCV as of yesterday.

Talk about being in a buying frenzy! Five months ago we said we weren't interested in DVC. Now we own 425 pts. at BLT and GCV, sight unseen (other than that nice BLT mock-up at the DVC presentation).

I'm hopeful we've fed the beast enough and we can just enjoy the points we have for now.

Congrats!

However, I've found that purchasing an add-on only temporarily masks the symptoms of the "addonitis" disease, and then the symptoms just flare back up a little while later.

Some of us find annual maintenance bills to be quite the instant cure. Unfortunately, it has been found to be a less than a perfect cure for some.

Enjoy the cruise and the additional points!

In spite of how you now feel, there is no cure for addonitis. It's a constant battle, believe me, our contract has 16 parts.

:scared1: I thought we were bad with 9 parts to our contract!

See, I made you feel better!:goodvibes

Are you now in the 1000 point club?
We started with 200 a year ago, and 5 additions later, we now have 910. I keep telling my wife...only 90 more to go.
I don't know why 1000 seems to be the number for me to hit, because i know when i do get there, i'll probably have a new number in mind.
Oh well, Points and Disney pins... gotta collect something!:rotfl2:

Adding on points to cure addonitis is like drinking to cure a hangover. :rotfl2:

Congrats on the add on, and welcome home, BLT neighbor! :)

MF's whats that when your talking addonitus? LOL
But seriously that does help control ALOT of addons i'm sure.
I want to add on BWV but my very smart and beautifull and all KNOWLEDGABLE, loving dedicated faithfull best friend (is this enough butt kissing) wife:worship: will tell me when we can add on there. Shawnpirate:

No, we have 930. Most of our add ons have been 25 -40 points!
You are aquiring them faster than we are, we've been members since 2003.

Adding on points to cure addonitis is like drinking to cure a hangover. . . . .

There is always AA for those of us with addonitis (Addonitis Anonymous): the first 6 of the 12 steps result in buying more points at your home resort; the last 6 steps results in buying points at new home resorts. Good Luck!

. . . . .

And don't they go hand in hand: for every 1000 pins collected and put on a new pin board, we have to have an add on contract. Disney is the king of Marketing!

They should tell you about "addonitis" when you sign your first contract. We swore 160 would be more than enough a year ago and now with 285 we're looking at how that may not fit us one of these days. Geez! Really we just went in just for 50 points...;)

Congrats!

I am guessing a little while later for DVC Mike may be Hawaii??

You are my hero, whenever my husband asks how many are enough, I point to DVC Mike!! :worship::worship::worship:

Hi my name is XXXXX and I am a DVC addict. Isn't that how all support group sessions are suppose to begin. I have to add myself to this discussion to say to my knowledge there is no cure for Addonitis. You can surely tame the beast within you by buying a few now and then but then the next 'best offer' comes out and you are back with symptoms again.

We bought 11 years ago and we have had so many add ons that I am embarrased to share with everyone. Let's just say we started with 210 points back in 1998 and fast forward to 2009 we are at 1,200 and counting....:cool1:

I swore we bought enough with our initial 150 at BWV. Then a few months later I was sure we were done when we added 180 at VWL. Once AKV was for sale, we couldn't resist another 200 at AKV, our favorite resort, even though we really didn't need them. Now, once I looked at how many points it would really take for us to have the days we want each year in a one bedroom for the length of time we want to go during the season we want to be there, I knew we needed another 25 at BWV and 100 at AKV. This time I'm really sure we have enought point. Yup, no more points needed. ;)
