Cruising in December

Does anyone have any experience cruising DCL in December? When I told my wife about the cruise, her first remark was that she didn't want to be on a boat in December. Our last cruise she had some problems with nausea, and is worried about more of the same. I know you never know with mother nature, but is December typically calmer or rougher seas? I need help talking her into this...

We cruised in February this year and are going back in December as part of a bounceback deal from that cruise. In trying to determine the date for this upcoming cruise I asked around about the weather and rough seas. Most people I heard from loved cruising in December. A few people said it is their favorite time of year to cruise. Hurricane season is over so there are fewer stormy seas to avoid. The other added bonis is that the ship is decorated for the holidays.

Thanks Minie! We are all about the decorations...we were on the cruise mid-November and they were just starting to get things rolling on them. Just enough to make you really want to see the whole thing But I wasn't sure about the rough seas. The end of hurricane season makes sense, I just want to make sure the wifey is at ease before pushing too hard!

Our only cruise was 12/31/08-1/4/09- a couple of weeks later than the PCC will be. It was smooth sailing and very pleasant.

Of course that's no guarantee, but we also figured sailing after hurricane season would be smoother- and it was.

We cruised 12/5-9/2005. We have also cruised the 3rd week of April 2004. I am prone to motion sickness, Bonine typically takes care of it. The last night of our 2005 cruise, coming back accross the gulf stream was very scary for me. High (13') seas. Closet doors and tv shelves were banging as were toilets flushing in surrounding staterooms. BUT this will not stop me from getting back on in 2010. The small inconvience of being sick for a bit at the end is so worth all the other WONDERful things. If the seas will be like that again just because it is December, is anyone's guess, but it isn't stopping us. Good luck with your decision!

BTW, I understand the tv's in the staterooms have changed since 2005? No more sliding thing?
