Hi all,

Should I or shouldn't !? I've wanted to go on a Disney cruise since they came to to my hometowm of Southampton UK many years ago. Now given the great rates offered for the podcast 2010 cruise I really really wanna go on I have received my quote from Tracy for a Cat 6 stateroom. My dilemma is this we've been trying to conceive for a couple of years now and have today been told although could still happen for us we should seriously look into IVF.

So couple issues the obvious - money due to red tape and NHS moving the goalposts we no longer will be eligible for 1 funded cycle like most we are a normal workng couple and don't have an endless pot of money.

If I did get pregnant could we still take the cruise, obviously not in late stages of pregnancy but would it be feasible for a newborn. Don't worry don't have plans to head to the cruise straight from labour.

So many people say you need to relax and not put your life on hold. I think I'm right in thinking that if I pay the deposit it would be fully refundable so long as we cancel prior to balance being due which would be 27th Sep 2010.

My quote is valid until 4th.

Sorry if this sounds like i'm i'm pitching a baby against a cruise I'm not I'm just in a quandary.

I believe that the baby has to be at least 12 weeks old to go. Its on the DCL FAQs and I am sure Tracy can tell you. The entire amount for Cat 4-12 are refundable 75 days before sale date.

If you do go, I'd make 100% sure you get travel insurance. Just in case you have to cancel

Found this on internet:

In contrast, Disney Cruise Line has one of the most relaxed age policies for cruisers. Infants may cruise with Disney at 12 weeks of age or older and Flounder's Reef Nursery is available to help care for them. In addition, guests only need to be 18 years of age or older to book and cruise on their own.

Tracy (bless her) has confirmed the cancellation period with me so I think we will book Yaay!

I apologize in advance to anyone who is on our flight from UK just in case we do have a little extra person with big lungs with us. x

:grouphug: I wish you the best of luck with the IVF.

I'm glad you decided to book and we'll hopefully see all 3 of you in December 2010 if the timing works out :dance3:

Don't forget Julie has had first hand experience of cruising with her little bundle of joy :goodvibes

One thing I will mention here is that if there is a chance you will be bringing a baby on the cruise, you should add a TBA to your reservation. We are still a ways out but as we get closer to the cruise, you may not be able to add an infant if the space in Flounders is full. There is no deposit for the infant. You wouldn't want to have to cancel because there is no room for your baby.

Very good point, thank you. I'll send a mail through. I was thinking I would have a few automatic babysitters to hand. You know my crazy cyber friends.

I think it's great that you booked the cruise. After 5 rounds of IVF myself, trust me, you need something else to think about. And planning for the cruise will give you another focus when the whole IVF things gets to be too much. Good luck. I hope it all goes well for you and we get to meet you little one on the cruise.

Oh my word I have been dying to tell you guys............I'm pregnant!!!!! The good man above finally decided that we could be blessed with child and without the aid of medical intervention. Sooooo excited 12 weeks along now due Feb 2010. Fingers crossed we can still go on cruise but are going to have to work out the money side of things. How cool to have pictures of first Christmas season in Disney.

Congratulations to you both! We went on a cruise with our son, DIL and our granddaughter who turned a year old on the day we sailed. Although it wasn't a Disney cruise, we had a great time. Just know it's a different kind of vacation especially with a little one! And at that age, we weren't comfortable leaving her with anyone else to watch her.

Congratulations!! Be sure to send me an email when you are comfortable to add the baby so we make sure there is capacity for the baby on the sailing. There won't be an additional deposit.

Congratulations!

If you have any questions, we just traveled with our infant (and 2 other kids) last month on a Disney cruise.

Thanks you everyone for your lovely words. We are over the moon.

Tracy - I think you already added a little one to our booking as TBA (just in case) You mentioned spaces for flounders.

We probably did this. I haven't connected all the DISboard names with real names yet for 2.0. Sorry.
